We've driven past this place a half dozen times and decided to stop because we couldn't get a dinner reservation at the North Rim Lodge restaurant. We we're quite pleasantly surprised too... Good stuff: - Unique location, with views, and cool vibe - Food was tasty and the menu variety was decent, but not great Less good stuff: - Our server made us feel like we we're a nuisance but maybe he was having a bad day. - there's not a lot of healthy options but we weren't expecting that either - Drinks we're just ok so I'd get beer next time. Definitely, gonna stop next time and we'll try some other menu items.

We stopped by Cliff Dwellers on our way from the Grand Crayon to Zion. Knowing there likely wouldn't be much on the way, we looked for places that were on the way and planned in advance to come because of all the positive reviews. FOOD: My boyfriend and I shared the Southwest Salad and one of the day's specials: ribeye steak with red wine mushroom gravy and rosemary garlic mashed potatoes. Both were good - ribeye steak especially so. We got it medium rare and it wasn't overcooked. Good flavor, fresh rosemary. Really enjoyed it! DESSERT: Had to get the avocado pie, of course! Honestly, I was disappointed in this place after all the reviews. It hardly tasted like avocado! It did have a nice smooth texture, but I was expecting more. SERVICE: Excellent. No complaints. AMBIANCE: Modest, but warm. Honestly nice for the middle of nowhere. OVERALL: A gem in the middle of nowhere! Would come back.

We checked this place out due to all the raving reviews we've heard after a day of paddling down the Colorado River (literally so cool). We got here around 3:30 on a Wednesday afternoon and the place was dead, maybe one or two other families there. We sat wherever we wanted and the service was really quick. I ordered the avocado pie, which was really delicious (kind of like a key lime tart with a twist). My dad ordered the Rueben sandwich, which he said was very good. My mom ordered a burger with the regular toppings on it; I had a few bites and it was really good and juicy. My brother ordered the buffalo wings and he said they were really good just very spicy, to be expected. The prices are well-justified because you get a lot of food (my brother guessed he probably got around 16 wings). Good food, good service, 10/10 experience.

We had scoped this place out online for choices to have lunch when visiting the vermillion cliffs area. It ended up being very close and it was not at all crowded on this early October Thursday. We were immediately seated on the covered deck area, and it had so much charm.... It was so cute and the temperature was perfect so being outside was a delight. We both ordered a version of a burger, I got a impossible burger and my sister a regular one. The server was so kind and efficient. The burgers were super, well grilled with lots of toppings you could add. So many pickle slices!! I love that. I had a nice light side salad with a yummy spicy Caesar dressing and my sister had the sweet potato fries, that I sampled a few of. The food was just so good. It was a perfect combination of a relaxed afternoon and great food. HIGHLY recommend. And there was a doggo accompanying a patron outside, and they supply a water bowl for the pups. Can it get any better??

In the middle of nowhere you'll find a small western themed restaurant, motel, and gas station (even has tesla chargers) next to some wonderful scenery. Great spot in the middle of a long drive through Northern Arizona/Southern Utah, and while Cliff Dwellers didn't have the most mind-blowing food you'll find, it does have excellent American food options and a cool experience being underneath some red cliffs while dining. I ordered this patty melt and fries for a quick dinner. The service was very enthusiastic and the bread was crispy and the medium rare beef was tender and delicious. They have a ton more options on the menu but was only able to try this one. Their selection of IPAs were decent too, and works for any traveller. I definitely preferred their outdoor seating over their indoor seating due to the atmosphere outside. Overall, cool little spot where you can fill up and stop if you're happened to be passing through.

Buffalo wings extra saucy with blue cheese

The best wings I've ever had. I stop by on every northern AZ road-trip, usually a few times a month. It is a gift to have this restaurant in such a food desert. The views are top notch. The kitchen never fails to deliver on special requests. Lots of menu options. I would caution the fries are not very good and are very soggy and flavorless. The grilled chicken sandwich tossed in Buffalo sauce was really over cooked to the point it was tough to eat. The rest of the ingredients in the sandwich were excellent and the onion rings were perfectly deep fried. The shrimp tacos were bland and the tortilla chips were stale. The salsa was not good either. There is a cute shop with a lot of Lee's ferry branded clothing and fishing gear. You can get beer, wine and snacks there as well. This is a must stop when headed to Page, Lee's ferry or the Grand Canyon north rim. There are some cool boulders outside to climb and take pictures on as well. The restaurant has really convenient hours and starts serving the lunch menu as early as 10:30 am which is very nice on road trips. The outside seating attracts a lot of flies by the way. And they will die in your drinks.

WHAT A GEM!!! Got hungry during a roadtrip and was especially craving a burger in the middle of the desert. Not a ton of other stops going from AZ to UT and this 4.5 star (Yelp, July 2021) pops up on our radar with too many good reviews to pass up. The restaurant switches from breakfast to lunch menu at 11am. Waitress was super nice and welcoming to all guests. Food was amazing - I'd stop here regularly even if they stamped it in the middle of Austin!

When you're out in the middle of nowhere you might need to roll the dice occasionally when you get your lunch or dinner. This roll came up 7s! Great service, good food, excellent location. Don't think you're gonna find cliff dwellings here, but the Navajo Bridge is really amazing and Lee's Ferry even has an a historical Navajo peach orchard you can pick fruit at!! Plus, if you haven't noticed there are gigantic balancing rocks, a la the Road Runner cartoon, all over the place. The only downside was a salad we ordered had old greens on it. We pointed it out and the waitress was nice and gave us a discount, plus drinks to go.

Walking into Birdhouse, a converted drive-through restaurant, at 6PM, we were greeted with a short…read moreline wrapping around the order counter. It moves pretty quickly since the menu, full of fried chicken and staple sides, isn't too complicated. Birdhouse is a counter service establishment so the food doesn't take very long at all to cook and assemble. In our case it took only about 10 minutes. Thigh + Leg, Original ($11) - Instead of the advertised thigh and leg, the meal came with 3 pieces of chicken - one leg and 2 thighs! It wasn't just us; I saw other customers also getting three pieces. Finally a restaurant that underpromises and overdelivers! The breading on the chicken is a really dark golden brown, initially making me assume it was overfried. Biting into the breading, a really strong crunch shatters on the teeth. It's a hard crunch vs. the crisp that a normal fried chicken skin exhibits. Perhaps they enhance the mixture with rice flour and evercrisp? It's really quite amazing especially with how thin the breading looks. Even with the dark color, the interior remains moist and juicy; in fact, upon my first bite, a stream of chicken juice shot up onto my glasses! The meat has clearly been brined as it's super flavorful, and there's plenty of salt and pepper mixed into the breading to add even more oomph. The fat is rendered nicely and everything is served piping hot. They really know what they are doing with their chicken! A meal comes with one side of which we went with the Seasoned Fries. These are crinkle cut fries sprinkled with seasoning salt. The fry level isn't the most even, with some pieces being a little more dried out, but most still having tender interiors. I'd probably go with a different side in the future. (5/5) Thigh + Leg, Honey Butter ($11) - I believe this is literally the same fried chicken but with honey butter melted over the top. It adds some richness and sweetness, but is otherwise the same excellent fried chicken. For the side with this meal, we went with the Broccoli Salad w/ Bacon. It's pieces of crunchy raw broccoli mixed with tiny pieces of bacon in a light creamy dressing with a bit of sweetness. (5/5) Birdhouse makes their sauces in house which they supply for most orders. The first is their special honey mustard which, as the name implies, is sweet and mustardy. The second is a buttermilk ranch, creamy and tangy. It's very fresh and seems to have fresh herbs mixed in. After several days eating bland (but very fresh!) food in the Navajo Nation, we finally had a meal with actual seasoning! We were impressed enough that we went back the next day to try the final chicken flavor. This time it was earlier at 5PM and for some reason the line was even longer! Yet it took less than 5 minutes for the food to arrive. Thigh + Leg, Spicy ($11) - The base chicken is the same texture and flavor as above. The only difference is a liberal dusting of cayenne pepper spice mixture on top. They don't use any hot oil, so it's only dry spice on the outside, applied right after frying so it all sticks on. The powder is spicy enough to heat up the mouth and lips, but isn't enough to get me sweating at all. I'd compare to something between mild and medium at a hot chicken shop. There's just a hint of sweetness in the mixture - I actually wished it was boosted up a bit more. Still great fried chicken though! (5/5) Birdhouse really serves some great fried chicken. Reasonably priced, delicious food, great portions, there's not much more I could ask for. It was so good that we ended up eating here both nights we stayed in Page! Bathrooms - Single unisex room outside on the back side of the restaurant.

I went here based on a recommendation and took my mom and sister thinking we were getting authentic Mexican food (we're from Virginia). Overall the service was mediocre, nothing to cry or gleam about. The quality of the food was meh, but for the price it was horrendous, especially the meal for 2 which was around 54 dollars. Tacos were greasy and just met the edible level. The reason for the one star is due to the tip issue found in the pictures. They automatically included the tip in the total price and then expected us to tip based on that, essentially meaning you could leave a tip of around 40%!!! The quality and service is maybe 3 stars, but this shady tactic to target tourist is unacceptable. Really shameful on a business aspect.

Pistachio Chicken: The chicken breast was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a thin, crispy crust that was especially impressive. The sauce blended the mild aroma of Poblano chili, the creamy richness of butter, and the unique fragrance of herbs. Most precious was the pistachio aroma, both vibrant and subtle, without overpowering or masking the other flavors, creating a delicate balance. Even the saltiness was just right, subtle and delicate. The surface was garnished with pico de gallo, fresh, sweet, tangy, and spicy, balancing the potential heaviness of the sauce. The asparaguses were also very fresh, with a natural fragrance, but perhaps a little too mild with the sauce. Kanab Cowboy Ribs: The pork ribs were slow-cooked and roasted until they were so tender that they easily fell off the bone, offering no resistance when cutting into them. The homemade barbecue sauce coated it thickly, rich and sweet, with an authentic American barbecue flavor. It might be a bit too sweet for most Chinese palates, but I thought it was quite good. The agave mustard vinaigrette seemed more decorative; I nearly couldn't really taste it. Lemon Sorbet: Homemade sorbet, offering the most soulful finish. It was breathtakingly beautiful at first glance; the simple white porcelain plate and glass were limpid and elegant, perfectly matching the sorbet's style. Unlike typical sorbets that emphasize extreme acidity, this restaurant took a different approach, with a gentle, even subtle, acidity that brings out the natural, lively fragrance of lemon, like Lolita's touch through pale silk. The texture was also delicate and smooth, without any ice crystals. Everyone was captivated; some even ordered an extra to take away. The restaurant claims that ingredients come from its organic garden. This might be a pointless gimmick, but the cooking and presentation of the dishes conveyed a consistent level of refinement and care, making it all the more valuable.
