A friend recommended Cliff Dwellers and it did not disappoint!! Amazing honest burger. No frills just good food.

If you read my reviews you know I am always kind when it comes to reviews. However this one requires a low star experience. It's my birthday and hubby wanted an experience for me. It was an experience for sure! Just not the best. The menu on the website lists a number of steak options. None of these were on the menu we were presented. When we asked about the lack of steak we were told that the restaurant no longer has a head cook who can handle steak. The place is divey with a fly issue. The food was Denny style so and passable at best. . Our bill was almost $50 with tip for pulled pork sandwich which was on the chunky side and not shredded. I had the patty melt with sweet potato fries. Ok can't mess that up. Once served the cook in the back had a huge coughing fit which was turning my stomach, Boxed up my leftovers which is undetermined whether I will eat. Got the heck out of dodge. I'm sure at one point this place was popular. I would love to see them return to their glory days, but perhaps not anytime soon. Sad! I might add we drove from Page, AZ so almost an hour drive. Very hungry and not many choices we chose to give it a shot. read more

Cliff Dwellers restaurant is attached to the lodge of the same name - and although you're a bit of a captive audience in this remote desert area, the food is fantastic, portions generous, and prices surprisingly decent! I ate several dinners and a breakfast when I stayed and loved everything I had. I tried the River Raft'n Tacos with grilled fish one night - it comes with 3 tacos full of supple chunks of perfectly grilled fish and chips and salsa on the side. The tacos were just a tad bland but still delicious and the side of salsa added the extra flavor I needed. My other dinner was one of their specials - the Southwest burger with a side of onion rings and veggie soup. This was fantastic!! The burger was flawless and tasty (not too spicy) and the onion rings were positively massive and delicious as well. The veggie soup was a bit spicy but still flavorful and hit the spot. For my breakfast I had the Horseshoe Breakfast which comes with two eggs, toast, home fries or fruit, and I chose ham for my meat. It was a great start to the day and their in-house coffee is really nice. Their unique dessert offering - the Avocado Pie - is a must when you visit!! It's light, creamy, and not overly sweet with a hint of citrus. It's like a mild key lime pie sort of and I loved it - would definitely get again. They have some traditional indoor seating as well as a patio that has garage style doors that they can open for an al fresco dining option. Decor gives off 70s diner vibes and they have really cool Grand Canyon/Colorado River paintings on the walls. Stopped here on our way back to Utah. Did not expect much since it is in the middle of no where but what a gem of a place. I had the pulled pork sandwich and my wife had the fish tacos. Both dishes were amazing. The pulled pork was moist and flavorful and the fish tacos had every flavor you would be looking for in a taco made on the playas. The restaurant itself is a small quaint place and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Driving through this area? Stop and try it out. read more

We've driven past this place a half dozen times and decided to stop because we couldn't get a dinner reservation at the North Rim Lodge restaurant. We we're quite pleasantly surprised too... Good stuff: - Unique location, with views, and cool vibe - Food was tasty and the menu variety was decent, but not great Less good stuff: - Our server made us feel like we we're a nuisance but maybe he was having a bad day. - there's not a lot of healthy options but we weren't expecting that either - Drinks we're just ok so I'd get beer next time. We stopped by Cliff Dwellers on our way from the Grand Crayon to Zion. Knowing there likely wouldn't be much on the way, we looked for places that were on the way and planned in advance to come because of all the positive reviews. FOOD: My boyfriend and I shared the Southwest Salad and one of the day's specials: ribeye steak with red wine mushroom gravy and rosemary garlic mashed potatoes. Both were good - ribeye steak especially so. We got it medium rare and it wasn't overcooked. Good flavor, fresh rosemary. Really enjoyed it! DESSERT: Had to get the avocado pie, of course! Honestly, I was disappointed in this place after all the reviews. It hardly tasted like avocado! It did have a nice smooth texture, but I was expecting more. SERVICE: Excellent. No complaints. Yes, you are in the middle of nowhere and let's face it, you nor I aren't expecting good food. But then it arrives and you are so pleasantly surprised that you sit down and write a review. Everything everyone had was wonderful and while the River does stir up a strong appetite, this place is truly good and beyond your expectations. I had the Ruben and the quesadilla app and it was more than I could eat (and I was man-hungry). Burgers were amazing and food came pretty damn fast with the burger temp nailed to a perfect MR. That's almost shocking anywhere these days or am I getting old and grumpy? Prices were great and you can eat outside which is sheltered from the wind or inside. Thx Cliff Dwellers for fueling us up for a long trek home and the perfect lunch. Note to Yelpers that they open for lunch at 11am so if they serve breakfast, they close between services. read more

We checked this place out due to all the raving reviews we've heard after a day of paddling down the Colorado River (literally so cool). We got here around 3:30 on a Wednesday afternoon and the place was dead, maybe one or two other families there. We sat wherever we wanted and the service was really quick. I ordered the avocado pie, which was really delicious (kind of like a key lime tart with a twist). My dad ordered the Rueben sandwich, which he said was very good. My mom ordered a burger with the regular toppings on it; I had a few bites and it was really good and juicy. My brother ordered the buffalo wings and he said they were really good just very spicy, to be expected. The prices are well-justified because you get a lot of food (my brother guessed he probably got around 16 wings). Good food, good service, 10/10 experience. read more

We had scoped this place out online for choices to have lunch when visiting the vermillion cliffs area. It ended up being very close and it was not at all crowded on this early October Thursday. We were immediately seated on the covered deck area, and it had so much charm.... It was so cute and the temperature was perfect so being outside was a delight. We both ordered a version of a burger, I got a impossible burger and my sister a regular one. The server was so kind and efficient. The burgers were super, well grilled with lots of toppings you could add. So many pickle slices!! I love that. I had a nice light side salad with a yummy spicy Caesar dressing and my sister had the sweet potato fries, that I sampled a few of. The food was just so good. It was a perfect combination of a relaxed afternoon and great food. HIGHLY recommend. And there was a doggo accompanying a patron outside, and they supply a water bowl for the pups. We were excited to plan on Cliff Dwellers being our stop for a late lunch/early dinner on our long drive from the South Rim to the North Rim. It had very high Yelp reviews, was located at the perfect stopping point in our drive around the canyon, and had avocado cream pie....never heard of that one. We should have questioned our choice when the young lady asked us when we walked in the door, "inside or out". It was 93 degrees when we stopped, so out was not an option. We chose to eat indoors....by the A/C unit. My wife ordered fish tacos, and I did a cheese quesadilla, and a bowl of Hatch green chile mac-n-cheese, with chicken. I had eaten this type of mac-n-cheese a previous night, and have become a big fan. My wife's tacos were okay, but she only ate 2 of the 3, and I wasn't interested in the third one. My quesadilla was very basic, and neither the salsa or the sour cream helped much. Now, the mac-n-cheese was very good. But the chicken strips they put on it were so dried out, I tried one, then pushed them to the side and didn't eat them. We did order a piece of the avocado pie and split it. It is a little different, and pretty good. Our server was nice enough, and did a decent job. Just didn't expect to have to wait for refills when there were only 2 tables occupied in the place. And the restrooms? Both men and women's had signs on the doors about problems within (sink can't be used, doors not locking). Unless you want to eat at a gas station, there is nothing else around for miles and miles either way, so your choices are very limited. But plan a light meal and a cold drink here, and get dinner closer to the North Rim. read more

In the middle of nowhere you'll find a small western themed restaurant, motel, and gas station (even has tesla chargers) next to some wonderful scenery. Great spot in the middle of a long drive through Northern Arizona/Southern Utah, and while Cliff Dwellers didn't have the most mind-blowing food you'll find, it does have excellent American food options and a cool experience being underneath some red cliffs while dining. I ordered this patty melt and fries for a quick dinner. The service was very enthusiastic and the bread was crispy and the medium rare beef was tender and delicious. They have a ton more options on the menu but was only able to try this one. Their selection of IPAs were decent too, and works for any traveller. I definitely preferred their outdoor seating over their indoor seating due to the atmosphere outside. Overall, cool little spot where you can fill up and stop if you're happened to be passing through. read more

The best wings I've ever had. I stop by on every northern AZ road-trip, usually a few times a month. It is a gift to have this restaurant in such a food desert. The views are top notch. The kitchen never fails to deliver on special requests. Lots of menu options. I would caution the fries are not very good and are very soggy and flavorless. The grilled chicken sandwich tossed in Buffalo sauce was really over cooked to the point it was tough to eat. The rest of the ingredients in the sandwich were excellent and the onion rings were perfectly deep fried. The shrimp tacos were bland and the tortilla chips were stale. The salsa was not good either. There is a cute shop with a lot of Lee's ferry branded clothing and fishing gear. You can get beer, wine and snacks there as well. This is a must stop when headed to Page, Lee's ferry or the Grand Canyon north rim. There are some cool boulders outside to climb and take pictures on as well. The restaurant has really convenient hours and starts serving the lunch menu as early as 10:30 am which is very nice on road trips. The outside seating attracts a lot of flies by the way. WHAT A GEM!!! Got hungry during a roadtrip and was especially craving a burger in the middle of the desert. Not a ton of other stops going from AZ to UT and this 4.5 star (Yelp, July 2021) pops up on our radar with too many good reviews to pass up. The restaurant switches from breakfast to lunch menu at 11am. Waitress was super nice and welcoming to all guests. Don't think you're gonna find cliff dwellings here, but the Navajo Bridge is really amazing and Lee's Ferry even has an a historical Navajo peach orchard you can pick fruit at!! Plus, if you haven't noticed there are gigantic balancing rocks, a la the Road Runner cartoon, all over the place. The only downside was a salad we ordered had old greens on it. What an awesome find! This is a very small restaurant I'm the middle of nowhere really, but tucked away in the Vermillion Cliffs on Navajo land. We came here after seeing a Facebook video saying it's a hideaway must go to. They have also been highly rated on Yelp! I highly suggest staying here or one of the other small inns along this road instead of Page. It's a much cuter and more unique experience and we wish we had! The inn looked super cute. We came here for breakfast after coming the day before. Their hours aren't updated on the website so make sure you call and ask if they're open. Their fall hours are 0630-1000 and 1700-2000 but they close early if they don't have business. I was unfortunately a little disappointed about my stuffed biscuits and gravy. The gravy just wasn't as good as I'd like but still delicious, just not the best I've had - hence the 4 stars. I had a full order with 4 biscuits and gravy which have eggs however you want, 2 whole sausage patties, including sausage in the gravy, with cheddar cheese. Still super yummy. I also got a side of bacon - a little too crispy. My friend had the breakfast burrito. Omg it was so good!!! The salsa on top was a good medium and it had sausage, the best country potatoes I've ever had, the consistency and crispyness was amazing, and it also had some veggies like onions and peppers. The breakfast burrito won for me! Almost wish we came for dinner because the food looks amazing. They do have indoor and outdoor seating. Love a unique find! Friendly staff. Nice patio with views. They do close pretty early at nine, so keep that in mind. There is no wifi at restaurant or hotel rooms but there is at the tavern up the street if needed. We found this little gem on our recent trip to nearby Page. It had all of the charm of a roadside cafe, with all of the flavors of your favorite in-town bistro. This little restaurant is such a cute an quaint spot. Come for a sunset and the views are impeccable. There's plenty of parking outside, a deck, and a separate out door patio. They serve hearty american food. Went with the steak (medium rare) and fries, my friend got the ribs, and we both got beers. The steak came out medium well and was pretty tough, so I unfortunately sent it back. It came out rare the second time around, and it was much much better! The ribs were pretty good, but were not the most tender I've had. Overall a good experience with good food! read more

What a find in the middle of nowhere! I ordered a Ruben sandwich with a salad. My husband got a Patty melt. Both sandwiches came with swirl rye with ample meats, so tasty. The salad was super fresh with mixed greens, chopped carrot, cucumber & tomatoes. Our server, Sarah, was fabulous, fast & friendly. Best yet, they are DOG FRIENDLY! They have an open outdoors seating area as well as a roofed, 3 sided outdoor space where we sat with our rambunctious 1 yo puppy. So nice & easy! read more
