Disorganized and expensive. Did not feel cared for and nothing came out of this program. Beth therapist in particular was more about power plays and didn't care about the clients. I didn't get my lab work TILL AFTER I LEFT! I didn't get to see a doctor at all while there. I didn't like my therapist.i felt like I was constantly in a power play mode fighting and advocating for the smallest common sense things. I have been trying to communicate with my son who is a patient. I totally understand their stance regarding confidentiality- however- my son told me he was going to be released- but they would not charge his phone for him To Uber to Austin. Instead- they have tried to convince him to stay for another 2 weeks ( which he does not need- but would result in substantial financial gain for them). They will not allow him to charge his phone to Uber to Austin- instead they want me to come down there and try to convince me and him that he need to stay another 2 weeks.. read more

Honest and sincere review here with no agenda. Until the age of 50, life had been great in all aspects. I was a divorced mother of two teenage daughters. Their father and I managed the divorce as healthy as we could. I remarried at 52, divorced two years later and became an empty nester. While I cannot be sure, the trauma of the second marriage coupled with empty nest seemed to do a number on me. I fell into addiction. I became a shell. I lost myself. My drug addiction was obvious to all. I was embarrassed and ashamed. I entered treatment in 09/17 and have been sober since then. Driftwood is a personalized program, tailored to each client. They meet you where you are. You are not pushed thru a standard addiction protocol. This is key, addiction is a very complicated thing. The staff, clinical team, mental health support, addiction recovery education, everything is excellent. No stone is left unturned. I left Driftwood with a sense a purpose/self, a recovery network, family relations healing, and direction. I can tell you all about their program, but their website can explain that better. I will forever be grateful to Driftwood. I remain in their alumni program, speak at Family Weekend on occasion, get together with fellow alumni who are now friends. I cannot say enough about Driftwood. Thank you! PS. The facility is beautiful, food is excellent, self care options excellent. I went for mental health. I had problems with my assigned therapist for multiple reasons and asked to switch but that never happened. On my last day I emailed the owner about my experience with him and got no response. Some of the staff I did like they were kind and helpful and made it more enjoyable, but few. I enjoyed the other patients I met there. I asked to talk to the eating disorder consultant the first day and was adamant about it and didn't get a call with him until the last couple days I was there. In my experience, the therapist Jacob gaslit me and I did not feel comfortable talking to him. I am aware that other people have had similar experiences. Upon arrival, I was promised I was going to get time with my computer and time to work but it didn't happen until about 2 weeks in. There also is a superiority aspect. The older people who paid for treatment themselves easily got more things than the younger patients. For example, they could use their phone to "work" or "call family" everyday which wasn't the case always; but the rest of us had to constantly advocate for things that were just as important to use our personal devices for and it never happened. I also was forced to stop taking my ADHD medication there which resulted in tremendous weight gain and the medical staff allegedly had no clue why. After I left I found out it was because they took me off my meds from someone who works in the mental health and medical field. They knew immediately. I also got some labs done there for my doctor outside of it and the team at Driftwood saw my labs but didn't mention to me that I had low blood sugar. I also heard word of the admissions team talking badly about patients before they came. It's on a sewage system so it smells disgusting there. Driftwood does not care about COVID one bit. They didn't test me when I came in and have people come in from the outside without a mask everyday. I did not feel safe there and brought this up MANY times but nothing was done except "I'm sorry you feel this way". They also get mad at you if you don't want to play put-put and work on work/ school during that time. Keep in mind, where we would possibly be exposed to COVID. If you were there for mental health they would put some form of addiction or substance use in your file. There is a power-play aspect between staff and patients, especially Jacob who has to approve everything you do and will use it to his advantage. For example, I called him out for gaslighting me and lying to me and did nothing to raise any suspicion that I was going to hurt myself but he put me on check up every 15 minutes to make his mark; because he was upset I called him out. I feel like he should be fired as he has used tactics like this on other clients, but that's just my opinion. I also came to get a psychiatric evaluation. I'm under the impression that they were trying to get more money out of my treatment. From my understanding, you are supposed to get an evaluation the first week, as I had seen with other people. I asked if I had one near the end and Jacob told me I had been, which was confusing because it was not at all comprehensive. Just before my 30 days were up, they told me I had to stay for another 5-7 days to get the evaluation. So I left without one. My experience was very disempowering as a young woman. I would not recommend this place unless you were older and had a lot of money because then they treat you somewhat fairly. Thank you to the few staff that made my experience better, you know who you are. But Driftwood is a horrible place. read more

My brother went to Driftwood Recovery for 30 days in October for PTSD and pain stabilization. We were quoted $47,500 by Paul, the Admissions Director, less $15,000 for insurance or $32,500 for 35 days. In addition, our counselor (who recommended Driftwood) let us know that they had agreed to an additional $2,000 for insurance. These prices were quoted PRIOR to treatment. Just before my brother entered Driftwood a contract was sent for $40,000 not $30,500. As time was short, we paid the $40,000 expecting to be reimbursed to the proper amount. Not so!! Paul and the CEO Peter both refused reimbursement, ignoring the written quote from our counselor and the telephone notes my sister had taken during her phone call with Paul. In addition, no information on the insurance was given despite promises to reimburse if insurance covers any part of the program. Treatment began with recommendations to extend the stay. These recommendations continued throughout his stay. The accommodations are OK, but expect 4 to a room with 1 bathroom. I would recommend you stay away, but if you do go with them, get everything in writing. Do not trust the staff or verbal quotations. They will not be honored. Expect pressure sales tactics to extend the stay and no communication or returned calls while staying there. Patient care is secondary to revenue considerations. Beware!! read more

My Experience with Driftwood was amazing I was guided through the whole process and helped along the way at a solid pace that was good for me. The amenities and food are top notch. I firmly believe any individual will get out of this place what they put into it. If you need the extra help as I did this is the place to get it. I came straight out of detox with severe withdrawals and was scared. Throughout the whole process I was helped in every area in which I was struggling. Once completing my time at Driftwood I was put into a situation where I needed to find a sober living. I was very uncomfortable with where I was going to sober living but was extremely comforted with the fact that the Driftwood team had put together a trip to the Big Bend with every member From the Heartwood sober living house in which I was going. Without this extra effort from Nick Borgeous & the Driftwood team my transition would never have been as smooth as it was. I hit my 9 month sobriety 6 days ago and to this day I am still affiliated with Driftwood weekly meetings, panels and many more extra free benefits. I could not have what I have today without the initial help from driftwood and their staff. And quiet honestly a review does them no justice but I feel obligated to share my personal amazing experience during a hard time of my life. read more

Driftwood is truly unique and I would send anyone there in a heartbeat. I have met all the staff and been on-site. I love it and I love all of them for pain and addiction treatment plus more in residential. They have a great step down in Austin too. Their doctors and clinicians are truly compassionate and highly skilled. It's small enough to get all the attention each client really needs which is important beyond measure. I actually refer clients there when I can but the cost is high which makes sense as it must cost money to get this kind of treatment in this setting!!! It's gorgeous and the food is also amazing as the chef is the best. The staff is all hand picked down to each and every one. Some rooms are not all 4 people as well and have less. It's a small amount of time to be worried about sharing a room and focusing on what you're there to do which is get exceptional clinical care folks. If I needed treatment ever again in my life as I'm over ten years in recovery, I would head for Driftwood in a heartbeat along w their aftercare. I love all of them. Admissions people are not all bad and these guys are good to the core not just punching a clock trying to admit people as they're trying to transform lives and this goes way behind a job for them. They are all in this doing good things here so trust that they have the best of the best people all of them as I have spent time w them all and love them. Best of the best! They're the real deal and I only refer to a very small handful of facilities in total, then being one. Its well worth the investment in your life to go get the best care and take care of what you need to for your recovery path. Life is a journey so go take the best journey you can at Driftwood seriously. All good centers cost significant money for the most part and not many deliver like Driftwood. I recently spent time at Driftwood Recovery for alcohol addiction. This was my first experience with a treatment facility and I willingly checked myself in after trying to quit drinking several times on my own. I can't say enough about how thankful I am to have chosen Driftwood. From day 1 I felt the entire staff - from top to bottom - truly cared about my well being and wanted me to succeed. The Management / Ownership team are engaged. The therapists were all top notch and experienced. I was impressed with their efforts to include my wife and family as an integral part of the treatment plan they set up for me. A well thought out and strategic approach overall. I continue to get calls and txt messages from numerous staff members asking how I'm doing - I was discharged over 2 weeks ago. I learned a great deal about how addiction works, how to deal with the physical and mental aspects as well as how my addiction impacted those around me. Anyone can stop drinking or abusing other drugs for a period of time in a treatment center or controlled environment. I feel I walked out of Driftwood with the skills and mindset to be successful and to not fall back on my destructive habits and behavior. AA has also been a significant part of my recovery. I'm fortunate to have gotten a second chance and that I now have control of my life. You can't put a price on this. I developed many new friendships with other patients and their families and I saw first hand how things changed in a positive way for many of them. I would highly recommend Driftwood if you or anyone you know could use this type of help. For anyone who really wants to get sober and is willing to put in the work and effort I can't imagine a better place. Like anything else worthwhile in life - what you get out of it correlates with what you put into it.
