During orientation, they said they will bathe patient twice a week but in real life only do it unless you asked on thursday and sunday. Then, on one thursday, they bathed my dad twice by mistake after he told them he as already had one earlier! Then one evening, when my dad was in a middle of eating his dinner, this huge Nigeria nurse ran in, demanded to take the TV? Waving a piece of paper in front of his face, take the TV or you have to leave....? It turned out after several tries, he meant to tell us that my dad needs a TB test otherwise he has to leave the facility because it is a community living. My dad had a catheter inserted after his surgery. The physical therapist suggests he gets up and move around as to help the healing. He wore sweat pants but the rube was long and visible on his ankle. One nurse stop him from leaving the room and said it is illegal to expose himself . Overall, there are a few nurses, physical, and vocational therapists that are smart...on points and lucid. The rest of them are idiots. They set up road blocks and have excuses for everything that they dont want to do. Worse of all, there are new rules ever shift change. The woman that is the director is not a MD Doctor.

No one could explain why, and even after my initial discussion with Estrella, she was never automatically set up to get lunch. Trying to communicate with patient care staff can be very difficult, but management assured me that this has been corrected. Mom has tried several times to get out. Keypads are used to enter and exit. I got there one day and the front door was propped open. I moved Mom as soon as possible after the last item occurred.

Her CNA was down the adjoining hallway, I rushed to him and told him what she was going through. The CNA told me she already had her medication. Meanwhile, her Dr. had left instructions to give her medication immediately should she need it for acute pain. I tried to explain that she was in acute pain and needed it now not hours from now. He did nothing. I literally had to leave my mother in the room by herself because I couldn't handle watching and hearing her in such agony. I was crying at this time and other residents were in the hallway watching all this unfold. Once the CNA finished with that hallway he finally came to my mom's hallway and since my mom's room was the second room down and not too far out of his way, he decided he would go check on her. It was at that time when he gave her the extra medicine that her Dr. said she was supposed to have when her pain was not relieved by what she was already getting. I started yelling at the CNA and the head nurse made me leave the premises. I couldn't go back to see my mom until I was cleared by the head administrator of St. Gabriel's. While I was there with my mom she told me that the nurses were a lot nicer to her when I was there with her. There was one CNA that I actually had removed from working down my mom's hallway. She didn't get fired, just moved sent on to another patient that she could be rough with when changing sheets and bathing and feeding. Most of the CNA's don't respect the families concerns and definitely take advantage of the power they have over the patients.

Our loved one suffered excruciating pain needlessly. Hospice is supposed to mean comfort care. The patient has had all other meds stopped and are given pain meds so that they can pass peacefully. Pain management is CRITICALLY IMPORTANT. If pain meds are not given according to the Hospice schedule by facility nurses, the patient suffers needlessly before they die. Shame on you for not treating imminently dying patients with more urgency and care. Don't send your loved one onto Hospice here.

The procedure was cancelled by Dr English's office but the hospital did not get it cancelled and was holding my co pay. Had to call the billing and hospital several times and maybe after 3 months a refund is pending. No one is billing or the hospital could was able to process my request and Dr English had to cancel the procedure again 2 months later.

The entire staff are professional, knowledgable, and caring to their patient. We have used this hospital twice and we recommend it. Large mega hospitals are not always better! St. David's is truly a community hospital.

They knowingly left him soiled in bed for hours; mismanaged his medication (dangerous!); food inedible (therefore, lack of nutrition); given utensils w/ stuck-on food; nonattentive staff. The only times some changes were made was because I called the managers and complained. Things would go back to terrible w/in a few days. As soon as his insurance allowed it (took 3 appeals), I had him moved to Encompass rehab facility in Round Rock (which is fantastic). One lady down the hall would cry out for assistance for well over an hour to use the restroom. Other visitors would tell the staff (who could easily hear her calls for help) but they couldn't have cared less. My dad's roommate left as soon as he could, and another person I met took their parent out as soon as possible, too, even though for both of them it was earlier than suggested. They all went to other in-patient rehab facilities to complete their recovery. I looked at other patients, short-term and long-term patients, and none of them had smiles on their faces. To me, that's telling. Stay away from this place!

Zero Stars! My…read morefather was a patient at Cornerstone Rehabilitation Center and our experience was devastating. I would never recommend this facility to anyone with a critically ill loved one. Throughout his stay, it was extremely difficult to find nurses when we needed them. Alarms on my father's machines would go off for extended periods, and family members often had to leave his room to search for staff. I witnessed the same thing happening with other patients, whose alarms would continue sounding while no one responded. My father was heavily sedated during much of his stay, and I was concerned about the level of attention he was receiving. On his last day there, I repeatedly informed his daytime nurse that he had started bleeding again and asked that a physician be notified immediately. Despite raising my concerns throughout the day, hours passed before I was able to speak with a doctor. After the doctor ordered testing, we received no updates, and my father continued bleeding. When the night nurse came on duty, she mistakenly told me my father had been bleeding every day and had already received blood transfusions. I had to correct her because I had been at the facility every day and knew that information was incorrect. She later realized she had confused my father with another patient. That mistake was extremely concerning because it showed a lack of familiarity with the patients under their care. As my father's condition continued to worsen, I repeatedly asked that he receive additional treatment or be transferred to a hospital. His vital signs were declining while he continued bleeding. He was not transferred until close to midnight. We were told he was being taken to the hospital behind the facility (Ascension), but when we arrived, they had no record of him. After calling Cornerstone, we learned he had instead been taken to St. David's North without anyone informing our family. When we arrived there, we were told he was in critical condition, and his platelet count was only 12,000. My father passed away a few weeks later. While I cannot say with certainty what caused his death, my family believes the care he received during this stay, including our concerns about whether he consistently received important medications such as Promacta, contributed to his decline. At the very least, we left feeling unheard, unsupported, and deeply disappointed by the care he received. There were many other incidents during his short stay that I cannot fit into one review. My family trusted this facility with someone we loved, and we deeply regret that decision. If you are considering Cornerstone Rehabilitation Center for a loved one who requires close medical attention, I encourage you to do thorough research and carefully consider all of your options before making that choice. Please do not fall for the previous reviews!!!
