I love this place!!! It has a super great location and is like the one place I can find without getting lost downtown. Just tried out Drink, and we'll be going back. An upscale, modern, low-key lounge/bar. Really nice set-up with good mix of bar space and three or four separate lounge/seating areas with leather couches and small tables. There's actually also an outdoor side lounge area with a nice water fountain, but it wasn't set up for seating last night (I'm guessing due to the weather). There are 3 or 4 HDTVs and actually a couple of projectors on the wall as well. Great place to watch a game if you're looking for a more upscale environment than a sports bar. Prices were average and bartenders were great. Crowd was good mix all over the spectrum from 20s-40s. It was fairly empty until from 9-10 and then picked up considerably as the night got going. Music was great level for lounge. All in all, a great example of a lounge done right. read more

A pretty posh place considering it's a bar lounge. My kind of place! Looks very classy, with the nice contemporary furniture and all. But doesn't seem to have a dress code. It is in fact in Downtown SA, so it must cater to the tourists around. Not to sound like a snob, but they pretty much let anyone in that wants their business. It doesn't get any better than this joint. Not only are the drinks cheap but they are also delicious. The mixologists only use fresh juices when making drinks and are always coming up with cool new drinks everyday. Its by far one of my favorite places downtown. After a less-than-ideal experience here in March, the owner of Drink sent me a message via Yelp, saying that they had reworked the concept of the bar and had changed a number of things around. I decided to give Drink a second chance, and I'm glad I did. I had a wonderful time! The bartender in particular was excellent. She was friendly, knew her booze, and made some great conversation. She mixed me some awesome drinks, and I enjoyed myself so much that I plan on making a second stop at Drink before I go back to Austin. The few criticisms I have are pretty superficial. The top-40 pop music they play is a little grating, and the ESPN on TV doesn't quite mesh with the rest of the aesthetic. But these things are pretty minor in the long run. What matters is great drinks and a great staff, both of which Drink has been able to achieve since I first visited. read more

I've recently discovered Drink as a wonderful place to start or end a night of drinking. I hesitate to share this secret with all you guys, because the service is so quick and there's hardly ever a line at the bar, but I'm with Anthony M, I'd be okay if Drink was packed every now and then. They'll mix you anything your booze-loving heart desires and they'll do it swiftly. Last time I was there, I had a fruity mixed drink that was extremely strong, in a good way. Also, a few friends of mine swear by "The Grateful Dead" a grape-y drink of sorts. What I love about Drink is it's location presents the option for walkability among a number of downtown spots. The last time I visited Drink, we also stopped at Zocca, Contessa, On The Halfshell and Zinc (no driving necessary). Well, for NYE the DTLBF and I had dinner at Zinc and as I was on their back patio I found Drink (Sober)! After dinner we mosied on in for some drinks. The bartender was great. The music was great. This is gonna have to be my final bar review for San Antonio. I consumed a lot of alcohol in a 36 hour period and the longer I skip over reviewing this place, the more foggy my memories become. However, I do remember a few things...emphasis on a "few." The bar itself is legit. It's not very big, but has high ceilings that make it feel bigger than it is. If anyone remembers Maker's in downtown Oklahoma City from a coupla years ago...it kinda has that vibe to it, but without the cigars and dim lighting. The bartender was an absolute peach. She knew her drinks and was quick to refill a glass and/or ask if we needed anything else. The crowd was...ummm...different. Not in a bad way, just different. There were people like me in there...and then there were people like...maybe they were accountants? And I know some of them had to be secretaries. I could tell that someone with my appearance wasn't someone that those people saw very often...let alone share a bar top with. It was actually quite funny. One last thing I'd like to point out is that this place...for being in downtown San Antonio...has dirt cheap drinks. They have an insane happy hour that goes from 2-9, I believe. During that time, they're tossin' out beers for under $3 and well drinks that go for under $5. Once again, my mind was a little hazy my entire San Antonio trip, but I do remember that the drinks were some of the cheapest I've seen around. Overall, this place is pretty sweet. i think we didn't ask the right questions for HH? I was lured into Drink by the reviews, and we felt lucky to get a table at 3:30pm on an NFL Sunday but it was pretty empty. The one bartender there came up to us right away, so props for that as well. HOWEVER. I ordered a Moscow mule with well liquor and hubby ordered a draft beer. We giggled as we drank expecting the well advertised HH prices but were surprised with a $12 bill for the two drinks. Now. Should I have said something? Yes. However, we both didn't feel great due to various reasons and just wanted to get back to our hotel. So, maybe we ordered off HH. So fine, we ordered off HH, would I hang out here otherwise? Nope. It looks like someone's basement. Dark, chipped paint on the walls, not inviting. Fine if you're getting $2 drinks, but if you're not.. skip. read more

Best bar for minors in SA, just say you forgot your ID! When it came time to close our tab, they tacked on $40 to what should have been a $30 tab, and when my friend confronted the owner he said "sorry, we've already refunded too many drinks today" then proceeded to say "it's a business, get out and don't come back" (on his birthday too) The poor bartender knew that he didn't order those drinks but couldn't do anything about it because the owner wouldn't approve the refund. I think I came to Drink during a transitional phase for the bar. My brothers and I wanted to try a new spot downtown and Yelp'd Drink. I asked the owner of the place we were at about it and he said it wasn't too bad, given they changed their format from a snooty martini bar to a regular downtown spot. They had Texas craft beer on tap so I was down to check it out. So we get there and it was super dead for 1030PM on a Friday night. Never really a good sign. I do like that they have the beer taps right at the counter and have some pretty nice selections. Given this place isn't a growler fill station or tap room. So I got a local San Antonio beer and paid $7.05/pint, which was about $2 more than I paid for the exact same beer 1 mile up the road. It's down town, so I kind of get it. The bartender was nice but there was not extended interaction. She wasn't friendly or mean. Beer was cold, in a clean glass, served with little head and the flavor reflected that the lines were clean. Nice!! So they have high-top tables, bar seats and 3 leather couches by the entrance. Honestly it's a pretty comfortable setting for a dead night, because I was with 6 people and we took over a corner with the couches. Only reason we left was because they had a bf/gf team singing acoustically. In my opinion they were a tad loud for the space. If this were a review for only them I'd say the guy should go solo. Just saying. The décor is very random. You can definitely tell there's signs of what it once was and what it's trying to be. It has a semi-posh, dive, pub feel to it. I think if they completely dropped the old style and embraced the new path it would be pretty cool. Having Pier 1 plant décor next to a lighted beer sign don't really go together. The place doesn't smell of smoke and seems clean. The guy's bathroom was a dump though. There's no top to the toilet bowl or hand soap. They did have toilet paper though and the door locked. I washed my hands in the female bathroom because it's a single stall and the door was open. Parking can suck for this location. Not Drink's fault at all. Just giving a warning. There's a lot right across the street but 2 hours of parking equals about $12-$14. Not sure I'd be back to this place unless the people I'm hanging with suggest it. Although it would be cool to see how it changes in the next 6mos-1yr. read more

I absolutely loved this place!!! even though it looks very expensive it is SO down to earth and the staff is amazing. I love the atmosphere and all the loungy furniture. It is very comfortable and never felt out of place. The prices are quite reasonable and actually I was surprised at how cheap everything was. Wow. Breathtakingly horrible. Don't go. I went there at 3:45 on a Thursday looking to have a beer or two. No happy hour because of some random reason I didn't understand. No big problem, I figured. But then they keep turning up the volume on the music until no one can hear or talk. Remember, it's 4 pm, not midnight. Also I had to go to the bar to get a drink even though the place was pretty empty. So, literally no service. Then the check! Almost $20 for two tap beers! Jesus. We stumbled across this place due to being downtown and not knowing where to go (new to SA). We saw they had daily happy hour daily form 4-9pm with $4 crowns, $2.50 wells, and $2.50 beers!!!! You cannot beat these deals! The atmosphere was cozy its a small place with tables, couch area and 3 TV's. the bartenders were AWESOME, super fast and attentive. We got a groupon and decided to try it out. We sat at the bar and bartender walked by twice didnt say a word. Only 8 people in the place but she was busy talking to guys at opposite end of the bar. We arrived to San Antonio from Houston and found this little bar near our hotel. We got to the bar around 12 and stayed there for about an hour. There was a dj playing decent music, there were tvs, there was a dart board and an area with sofas. Overall I think this bar was ok. The bartender was very nice and made OK drinks. Nothing special about this bar but if you're close by definitely worth the stop. read more

Walk into this place as a tourist with a couple of co-workers. As soon as we sat down a young lady came and sat down with us and stated that she was sitting with us and asked if we would mind.
