Drip is an American Restaurant located on Main St. in Hellertown. They specialize in burgers, chicken sandwiches, and milkshakes. "Grab one, have a seat, fill it out, hand it in." That's how they do things at Drip. Instead of a server taking your order verbally, you fill out a paper menu. My buddies and I started off sharing three appetizers; Bavarian pretzels, fried cheese, and Nicky's Chicky wings. The pretzels were buttered, salted, and served with cheese sauce. The fried cheese was lightly breaded and served with a delicious garlic aioli. The cheese pull on these bad boys was insane! The wings were tender, but not crispy. The Nicky's Chicky sauce tasted like a normal BBQ sauce. After sampling all of the appetizers, I moved on to the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with fries and mac n' cheese. I didn't love the seasoning on the chicken sandwich, but the chicken itself was great quality and cooked to perfection. The fries were seasoned very well, but served lukewarm. The mac n' cheese was creamy, cheesy, and the noodles weren't overcooked like most places. Our server was welcoming, attentive, and happy to answer any questions we had about the menu. The one thing I didn't like about this place was "extras are extra." I can understand an upcharge for extra cheese or bacon, but an upcharge for LTO and mayo is a bit ridiculous. My girlfriend is a bit of a burger connoisseur, and felt her homemade burger was better than the one here at this place, but she loved the fries and was sad when she ate The Last Fry. I liked my burger, though it was a bit more mustard than I'd have chosen . On reflection, I'm not keen on the pricing model. The base price doesn't include things like lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion. I'm used to paying more for an Impossible patty substitution, but usually burgers in this price range include such accoutrements as onion, lettuce, pickles, and tomato. Both extremely nice and the owner starts a friendly conversation with us. After we ordered I asked if they sell pint glasses with the logo on it since it was also a brewery. He says to me not really but for you sure and sold me one and even told me to name the price. Food is good, service also good. I have been there 3 or more times and last time I went there I used my email and phone number and they said they had nothing on me. I have proof from my transactions and I had to sign up once again. I was also charged for two fountain drinks and I was the only one who got one. My two grandchildren ordered a peanut butter milkshake and my granddaughter had a cup of water which I saw from my receipt after the fact that I was charged. I don't mind paying but I only want to pay for what we received not another fountain drink. I will show my receipts if you want. Sooo....I've driven by several times and didn't even know it was a burger spot (also sells IPA Beers). Was looking for something different to eat and was browsing Yelp for local spots. It was late (late for us 830pm, they close at 9pm) on a Saturday so we decided we would just grab and bring home. There's good and bad news.... First the BAD news is that you get charged a take out up charge to cover costs of storage containers. I've never seen this and was surprised when I saw it after paying. So next time I come in can I bring them back and reuse them or bring my own? Especially since cost of meals are already higher then typical "fast food" spots (5 guys/smash burger). It caught us off guard. Good news it's good quality food and we enjoyed our meal. Husband got the smoked out and enjoyed it. It's served with a coleslaw and typically he's not a coleslaw fan but this was good. I even had a little taste and love coleslaw and can say it definitely was good. Our daughter got the Big Mick and said it was good and very filling. Both loved the fresh cut fries and pickles, but was a tiny serving. I had the Big Salad with chicken and other then it being kinda small for $13 it was as good. The homemade ranch was very delicious as well. We've been here alot the last month since we've discovered it. The burgers are great, fresh ingredients, and most importantly, a good structured brioche bun that can support the burger. Fries that are crispy, house made pickles that are delicious and beers/ciders for every palate. The service is friendly, owner, chef, bartender are all super nice. I stumbled upon Drip in a weird way, I was getting a hair cut and while I was waiting another customer was talking to the receptionist about how great this place was. I was thinking to myself, I like burgers and chicken sandwiches so I decided to give it a try. After trying Drip, I am glad I overheard that conversation. Drip likes to keep it simple. They do burgers, chicken sandwiches, shakes, and craft beers and ciders. It is more on the side of ice cream shop that has beer, than bar that has ice cream if that helps. While the menu may be small, what they do make is great. We had the Nashville hot chicken and the Smoked Out Burger. Both were great. The Nashville hot chicken is the best one I have ever had. A special note should also be made for the pickles, they are hand made there and also amazing. If you find the pickles amazing, they sell just the pickles to go. Judging by what I saw while I was there, this is a great takeout spot, I saw numerous delivery drivers coming in to pick up orders. The service was fine, she was quick and attentive. Did I miss something here? My wife and I came in a few weeks ago, took a paper menu and a pencil (?), and sat ourselves at a tippy high-top near the window. We took a look at the beer menu first--a few semi-local options and then a bunch of Drip beers, many of which middled out on Untapped. And then they also had Drip hard seltzers and ciders and cocktails from Social Still because why not. The food menu, however, looked promising--fried chicken sandwiches, pierogies, pickles, and a lineup of burgers that all were come-hithering. Like even the vegan one. My wife went Hamlet and I did the Big Mick, a clear play on my favorite fast food burger of all time, the Big Mac, which I get gripping and unending cravings for twice a year. The server came to take our order, which was us handing her the sheet with our pencil marks. My $9 non-Drip IPA soon came and was fine. Then the burgers arrived--and they looked amazing. Big ol' brioche buns, burger toppings bursting out everywhere, vying for space with a haystack of fries. My brain was all LET'S FUGGIN DO THIS. And then the first bite of the burger was like "Ah maaaaaaaan." The amount of secret sauce (the obvious best part of a Big Mac) was paltry. The burger patty itself was thin--and not even in that crispy-savory smash-burger way--and totally under-seasoned. Plus, it didn't fit the diameter of the bun, a cardinal burger-making mistake, which made the whole experience sort of unbalanced (a phrase which my wife has also used to describe me, by the way.) To cap off the whole burger bummer, the side of pickles (a feeble stack of maybe six slices) tasted completely un-pickle-y. I paid the bill at the counter and watched my tab pop up: $67 for two beers and two burgers. Unlike my burger, I was salty. As we drove home, we passed The Crossroads and a pang of remorse hit me: "Dammit, we should have gone there." I've never had a Crossroads burger, but I know I could have gotten a great cheesesteak and a lager for a third of what Drip cost me with at least 82 percent more satisfaction. Give me the time-tested over the flashy new any day. read more
