'm posting this to warn anyone considering DriveTime on Havana. The car they sold me had major, undisclosed damage that showed up almost immediately after purchase. By the time I realized something was seriously wrong, their 3‑day return policy had already passed, and I was stuck dealing with SilverRock, their warranty company. From the start, the car vibrated violently at highway speeds over 60 mph. I replaced the passenger wheel‑well track, then had a mechanic replace the drive shaft and rear axle. None of it fixed the problem. I was eventually told the car needed a new transmission -- and even after replacing that, the vibration continued. Two different mechanics told me the same thing: the car showed signs of being in a major accident, even though the CarFax report showed nothing. Later, during a simple tire repair, I learned that three of the rims were severely bent. I barely drove this car, yet the amount of hidden damage was unbelievable. I rely on my vehicle for work, and the constant repairs put me into debt. Neither DriveTime nor Bridgecrest offered any real support, and now I'm facing repossession because they sold me a lemon. My advice: be extremely cautious. Take any car from this location to a trusted mechanic before you buy, and make sure you test drive it at highway speeds. I bought a 2018 Kia optima and was in the shop three times within the first six days and then the third time it stayed in the shop. The warranty did not cover it and I had to pay to pick it up the second time the third time the Kia dealership found a warranty under them to fix it and they put new engine in the vehicle. I had no car and spent my whole check on a down payment that was only supposed to be 695 instead was 2200. They took no accountability. They did not try and get a rental I asked him if I could exchange it and they said there's nothing they could do. Thank goodness for the Kia dealership because they were the ones who fixed it under a warranty that they found, it needed a whole new engine!! I do not recommend Drive Time! read more

I purchased a 2015 Hyundai Sonata from DriveTime on August 15th. Less than a month later, the car already had major issues. I first brought it to Firestone (one of their approved warranty shops), but they couldn't even provide a proper diagnostic. I then had to move it to the Hyundai dealership, where costs piled up fast. Between deposits, diagnostics, and repairs, I've already spent over $1,700 out of pocket, all within the first month of ownership. The warranty they sell you on is very misleading. It excludes basic but critical parts like spark plugs, ignition coils, and belts. These are exactly the kinds of things that fail and cause drivability problems, yet none of them are covered. That leaves the customer paying for expensive repairs right away despite having "coverage." To make matters worse, DriveTime's customer relations department has been completely useless. No alternative transportation, no meaningful help, and no accountability for selling a car that broke down so quickly. For clarity, Wesley (the salesperson) was professional and helpful at the time of purchase, so this is not directed at him personally. The problem is with DriveTime as a company, the poor quality of the vehicles they sell, and the false peace of mind they advertise with their warranty. I feel misled and taken advantage of. I was sold a junk car. I received inspection and maintenance reports that were positive. Two months later I had an engine full of metal debris going into my exhaust system from poor maintenance that needs a full replacement which is more than the cost of the car. DriveTime has been unwilling to assist because I didn't buy the extended warranty and says I failed to maintain the car even with proof of an oil change within my two months of ownership. Any decent mechanic (or anyone who can do a web search) knows an engine doesn't build up debris and get shot within 2 months/3000 miles - that takes years. For anyone that did not know Drivetime is owned by Ernest Garcia of Carvana. They also own Bridgecrest and Silverrock. Get your own financing as it will be cheaper to do so. They target low income and minority individuals and expect you to not keep up with their marked up interest rates. They are also not a licensed lender in CO. Never have been. Do NOT leave the lot without GAP Coverage and GAP insurance. This coverage will save you time, headache and money in the long run, get it inspected even if it cost you money to do so at the CARS Manufactured dealerships. They lose money so they may not offer it in CO they are legally required to offer GAP. They definitely don't offer it on their Carvana sites. These cars are absolute junk. DriveTime hates veterans. I got "pre approved" online (a complete lie to get you in the door) and went through the whole process. I submitted my proof of income which includes a monthly living stipend that I receive from a Veteran's Affairs education benefit. They denied the loan, claiming that the benefit is specifically for school. Not only is that entirely wrong, the paperwork I submitted clearly states the allowance is for living expenses, there was even a specific section to submit VA educational awards as income. I was told it was "lender preference" that they can't accept my income. Their refusal to work with veterans in education tells me they clearly don't want the business of people who served in the military. 0/5 stars read more

I bought a used car from this dealership & loveloved my car... However, after just making my second car payment & putting just over 500 miles on it, the car is falling apart! The check engine light came on & after taking it it I found out that its the fuel injection system. Next the breaks are squealing! Then the driver's side window stopped working & got stuck "down", it's taped up & looks ghetto! I am a disabled, older female, when I bought the car, I was repeatedly assured that that this was a solid car that was in good shape & properly maintained. I do understand that things happen, but at the very least, I shouldn't be looking at putting on new brakes! That should have been done! When I called the dealership to let them know about the issue, the lady that answered refused to give me her name twice when I asked her for it directly. I finally asked for a supervisor. I told him (John) of my problems & he was very kind, but explained that I had not purchased the extended warrantywarranty, therefore, there was nothing that could be done. I explained that because I had only had the car for a short while & it was falling apart, I thought they should do better. Especially with the brakes issue!!! It should have been done before I bought it! He agreed but said the dealership couldn't do anything and advised me to call their Customer Relations division. To say the leastleast, I'm frustrated. I wish you could rate the employees separately from the business. Shay was a delight to interact with. She was knowledgeable, efficient, had a positive attitude, and had a little spice all in 1. She is very attentive and does everything in her power to get you into a vehicle with not a lot of hassle. Thank you, Shay, for your dedication and hard work... That being said The first car we liked was a Kia Sportage. The battery needed replaced, so we couldn't test drive until the next day, when it was going to be brought up to the front the key fob battery needed replaced then when we got into the vehicle and drove for 5 min it had no AC. 3 strikes your out! We finally decided on a Kia Sorento LX, signed the documents, and took the car home. As I am driving, I notice the radio keeps getting loud and fading out, and then every couple of minutes, there is an error msg. on the dash cam saying my battery is losing power faster than it's charging..wth is happening with all batteries on cars and remotes? I highly recommend getting a mechanic to inspect your vehicle in those 5 days, so you can make a decision before that time dissappears and you are stuck. Needless to say, we returned the vehicle and won't be buying from DriveTime. Too bad their employees are great, their cars...not so much! read more

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. Last year I purchased a '13 Nissan Sentra. One day I'm driving to work and the car stops working on the freeway, ON THE FREEWAY, I could have DIED (i live in LA). Luckily I get it to a mechanic and he says that the car needs an entire brake system, a brand new transmission and a new battery. Quoted me at $4500. My soul left my body. And then it returned to my body and I was LIVID. DriveTime would not take responsibility for any of it. They said that it is normal wear and tear.... I hadn't even had my car for a full year at this point. This was last December and now my check engine light comes on again. I took it to the mechanic and he says $450 for a new mass air flow meter. This company is full of dishonest and unsympathetic people that are out to make a dime. They will lie to your face, scam you, and sell you a lemon of a car and won't help you out when the entire car is falling apart and you can't afford to make your car payments and pay almost 5K for repairs. This company priced their cars at an 'excellent' condition Kelley Blue Book price but the car is a piece of shiet. This is my first financed car purchase and it is the worst and MOST EXPENSIVE MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. The car buying process was very transparent, and besides taking on a substantial amount of debt (car payments), the process working with Takkie & Chris G. was quick and painless. I didn't have to spend endless hours finding out the loan terms and down payment. The vehicle I bought was priced higher than it should have been, but that's what you expect when buying from this type of dealership. The car I bought was a lease return, and was in pretty awesome shape..With the exception of the driver side heated seat not working, I am Pretty darn happy. To those buying a used car ANYWHERE- Unless you are very familiar with the car you're buying and have some mechanical knowledge ALWAYS get a pre purchase inspection somewhere oTher than the place you're buying the car from. Additionally, make sure you can afford the vehicle payments, maintenance, plates and insurance. If 6 months goes by and the car has a major failure, why is that the dealerships fault? When I googled the address to see how far the drive would be, it said the location was permanently closed. Confused, I called the phone number listed on the advertisement and was told DriveTime did not have a location in St. Charles. Apparently they only have a location in South County. To Top it off, the vehicle advertised isn't even in the St. Louis, MSA. I feel completely mislead, talk about false advertising! DriveTime's salesperson was great. Problem is, I have put only 6000 miles on it and my 2017 vehicle already has a bad engine. Stopped in the middle of the highway. Now two and a half weeks later the warranty company they use, Silver Rock, is still dragging their feet while I spend either thousands on rental cars to get to work, of which I get reimbursed a whole $300, or I spend 3+ hours each way getting to work, and I still don't have an answer from them. Went here and they pretty much approve anyone with a job. Not a bad thing because my credit is super low. I even could have managed the $1000 down b/c I knew my chances other dealers would have done much worse (even up to $4000 down). So I decided to give this place a chance. I was in a real bind to get a better working and newer car b/c my whole family lives in Colo Spgs and that is an hour drive from me and I was having a family emergency. The cars on the lot are generally newer vehicles and that is nice compared to other used car dealers who don't carry such an updated inventory. HOWEVER, the cars they have are not in very good condition (multiple scratches, tears, discoloration inside and outside the vehicles, high mileage) and as USED cars are being sold for prices way above their current market value. I did my research and found most of the vehicles are being sold anywhere from $3,000 to $10,000 over the KBB value or for what other dealers are offering. Aside from this; I setup an appointment, got their useless online approval, went there early with one car in mind, after WAITING AN HOUR spoke with an agent who was more concerned about getting my info before letting me see the car. After they wacked me upside the head with the $1000 down, I went out for a test drive and couldn't because after trying to turn the key in the ignition found that the battery was totally dead! Haha. I think this dealer is a joke. I eventually found the car I was looking for at a market branded dealer for $4,000 less than what they wanted and 30,000 less miles and they helped me with my really bad credit. Overall, I'd say if you have no choice and have been denied by literally every other dealer for the car you want, go here. The good thing is they will work with super bad credit and even the down payment and will do what they need too to get you in a car fast, but don't expect much from the vehicles or staff. They are a bit pricey, but overall I got a decent vehicle with a not so good credit rating. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they disclosed everything and are honest. I would do business with them again. I wanted to post a good review, but when I tried to post my comment, it said error, try again later. I am downgrading my review from 3 to 2. I wanted to make a negative comment that car had issues; but their website must have a thing that catches certain words or phrases. I just took it in and found out: *My throw-out bearing is ruined in my clutch *My shifter cable went bad *My right front motor mount was cracked and leaking fluid *The power steering pump was leaking THE ONLY THING THEY ARE COVERING IS THE POWER STEERING PUMP...So now it's $1900 out of my pocket to get my car back!!! Your representative Damaris, was excellent at getting back to me, even reaching out to me when new vehicles arrived. My review is focused on your current corporate policy... I passed all of your pre-qualifications in order for me to be behind the wheel of the Lexus that I wanted. Credit passable? Check. Income eligible? Check. $1000 down? Check. So I come in, with the down payment & necessary paperwork, ready to make a deal. We sit at the table to finalize the deal, at this time your representative Linda takes one look at my PERMIT, and informs me that the deal absolutely can not be done with a PERMIT. What???? I have a document that PERMITS me to drive AND I have the financial means to honor my loan but I am still denied?? I knew that this was just Drivetime corporate nonsense, so I left and took my money to your competition down the block where I purchased an even better Lexus. When I left the dealership, my vehicle was financed, insured and will be registered all with my PERMIT, as it should have been. I think that it's time to seriously re-evaluate your current corporate policies... Purchased a vehicle thru this company bc my 26 yr old car died. The process was ok, being that everything was done on the web. Whatever reason Bridgecrest had a issues verifying who I was, for the loan application ‍ which was finally approved. My issue with D.T. is, (I know I purchased a car that was the top stolen car 2021/2022) they sold me a car that falls under the "Lifetime Free Engine" replacement settlement that Hyundai/Kia offers, without notice. I could have avoided the unforeseen headache of the issue with my car (being diagnosed and towed all over town: SilverRock (1 out of 5) likes to deny claims & approved repair facilities don't want to do the work) after 1.5 months of working on a resolution, got her to a garage that pinpointed the above info. I would give a ZERO for Tallahassee as it is the worst place I have ever purchased a car. Was told my tags would be coming in the mail and still had not received them. I contacted Tallahassee and was told I would have to go to AL as they would have to do inspection before I got the tag. I took off work yet again today to get tags and when I contacted the tag office, they have still not received the paperwork from the dealership. I even asked the day I got my car because it was on empty if they would put gas in it and was told they no longer put gas in it as I am on my own. I took off work yet again for this with no pay and the risk of losing my job for their stupidity. The manager even stated the day I called that you have only 20 days to get tag in Alabama and over that time frame. I am probably going to have to obtain an attorney for their negligence. I asked for District or Regional managers name and number and was told I would have to deal with Tallahassee only. I put $1600 down on a $15,000 car and Drivetime did not even tell me what the APR of 19.329% was before I signed the paperwork - they had already printed the paperwork out without telling me what to expect. 2 years later the balance of the vehicle matches the selling price. The interest/finance charge of the car is $12,838. The principle/Selling price is $15,795. Making the total purchase cost $32,337. The banks are already rich; you're not. Don't make the mistake I did. That is probably the worst deal you can get when buying a car from anyone on planet earth. read more

During one phone call, I specifically asked the sales advisor, Please let me know exactly what I need to bring with me because the drive is 3 hours round-trip so I really want the process to be a successful one the first time around. Well, even with all the documents, info and the correct amount of my down payment, I was given THE absolute and total run-around. My confidence level went from to 0 very quickly! I believe that Drivetime should start being straightforward with everyone beforehand because it's much too time consuming and just plain sad to travel so far just to be toyed with!! read more

I don't know where to begin. Let's just say I regretted the day I knew about DriveTime. It all began in Orlando. I went to a DriveTime dealership and was offered a single digit interest. It wasn't a bad rate but on a second thought, I decided I wasn't going to proceed with the deal. I called it off and moved on. They wouldn't let me be, the sales rep continue to harass me with phone calls afterwards. He stated on one of the calls that I can still get a vehicle from them based on the interest rate that I was already given and he said I can get the same rate at any of their dealership across the country. I noted his offer and said thanks. Fast forward 7 months later, I moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana and left my truck in Florida. I decided to buy another car. When I checked the nearest DriveTime it was either South Bend or Indianapolis. I decided to go to the one in South Bend. I remember calling them before showing up at the dealership. After presenting all my identification and whatnot, they presented me with a new interest rate, I think about 16/17 percent or there about. I asked them what changed? They muttered some nonsense that I can't remember now. I was dumbfounded and didn't know what to do. I had driven two and a half hours to South Bend to pick up the car and now, I am faced with a high interest rate! Even though I was promised a much lower interest rate earlier. My credit wasn't that awful, I was in the low 600, so I told the sales person that I needed sometime to think of what my options are. As if I was bewitched, I reluctantly agreed to the deal. Dropped off the rental that I had with me and drove off in the used DriveTime vehicle. The car was a 2012 Ford Taurus and everything came to about 22, 000 dollars. Biweekly payment was set at 196 dollars. This was in February of 2016. I still have the car and I have always paid on time but every time I cast my mind back to that day, I wished I had walked away. I ended up paying twice as much for this Used car. Looking back now, the 2012 Ford Taurus couldn't have been more than 9000 dollars in 2016 but I was charged 15, 000 plus. The interest rate brought the total to close to 22, 000. Now, please note, the car was around 102, 000 miles when I bought it. Now, its just about 125, 000. Though, I haven't really driven it a lot and it is still in a good shape, I will be lucky to sell it for 6000 dollars. Again, I don't know if I was out of my mind, hypnotized or perhaps it was just plain old aggressive sales strategy that worked on me, I really cannot understand till this day - why I signed those **** papers. I consider it my life mission to tell everyone that I know to stay away from DriveTime. This company is a slave driver and is not out to help folks. Whenever you drive off with a vehicle from this company, just know that you have literally been taken for a ride. read more
