At the Houston Gulf Freeway location I was sold a 2019 Tucson with a branded engine. Was not told this. The thermostat went out a week after I bought the car. I also found out that the wrong coolant was in the car. The coolant isnt even green, its brown, a few clamps were loose, there was a missing bolt for the engine block mount, and to top everything off; the cabin and engine filters were filthy! The only good thing out of all of this is its all covered under the extended warranty. Thankfully Big Star Hyundai sent video! I am done with DriveTime. read more

The absolute worst customer service I have ever seen. I'm not sure how they are still in business. I had to trade in for 2 other cars due to them breaking down. The second one we had to trade in, I mistakenly left my work backpack in it, including company credit cards. I immediately called them to get it back. After calling them several times, I was directed to their "repair shop" in NW Houston. The "mechanic" said it was placed in the managers office, and I could come and pick it up.We tried to set up appointments to get it, but got the runaround every time. So, here we are several months later, and they have no memory of it. A trip to Houston PD is in order, to file on them for stolen property. Before you sign a lease agreement or finance contract take the car into a local repair shop to get a full diagnostic report for your own safety and security!!! DriveTime will not give you a diagnostic report on any of cars because they know that they are not safe to drive. They are the worse place to lease or finance a car. They will easily approve you for any car depending upon the down payment and credit. Only do financing because they will reimburse you for a rental car if or when the car breaks down after you buy it! They sold me a Kia Rio that went good for two days and later on the 2nd day of having the car, the engine locked up and the car shut off on me in the middle of the road. Worse car experience ever! Bring up the Texas Lemon Law to the sales people. Also they don't even give you a full refund back of your down payment, let alone a trade-in value car. I do not recommend this dealership to anyone. Oh my god, I am absolutely livid!!!!! I previously wrote a great review about them, I WANT TO RETRACT THAT!!!!!! If you get your car from them, DO NOT, and I mean DO NOT enroll in autopay for your car payments. It has caused me nothing but grief!!!!!! I forgot I enrolled it, fine, my fault. I made my entire month of payments upfront, yet when the time came for the "second" payment of the month, they still put the auto pay through. I now have a returned check fee because of it in my bank account. I spoke with DT customer service, and THEY WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT! They will not give me any sort of letter about this to give to my bank so I can get a refund for that returned check fee. I have never missed a payment with them ONCE. FUCKING ASSHOLE CROOKS! I even talked to a manager about it, they are SO RUDE and get extremely defensive when you try to speak to them. My advice to you, either look elsewhere for a car or DO NOT enroll in autopay, it will ruin your life due to ridiculous complications. I wish I could smash the car into bits and tell them to go fuck themselves because of this. I guess I am out 35 fucking dollars now, THANKS DRIVE TIME. I have contacted the BBB about this complaint. It took Me 2 years to write this review because I really needed time to process that my car was not what I thought it was. I realized that when purchasing the car, I didn't take time to do my research and to check the car out from back to front with the map with the mechanic. I now see that I should have and all the money that I'm spending to put into the car it seems that it's outweighing the value of the car. Don't get me wrong the salesman was very nice I do not recall his name, but he was very nice, and he tried to get me in a car which I needed a car in emergency. I feel that this company it's good for people who need a car and don't have very good credit and it's just for temporarily this cars that drive time sale are not for long term use because of all the things that you the maintenance that needs to be put into the car. Not saying that most dealerships would not have this same problem but I'm noticing as I'm going down the reviews a lot of people have the same problem as I. Once I saw all the things that I need to get done with the car I became very disappointed angry upset the first year of having a car my transmission went out, and they tried to find every little reason not to fix the car. Drive time granted it's not responsible for the repairs on the cars, but they are responsible for selling good cars to people reliable cars to people. I feel that I was duped because when I went to go get my Brakes done the tech informed me that the brakes were put on incorrectly I did mention this to the people at drive time which they referred me to the service people that actually fix my transmission. On a recorded line supposedly, they told me that I never mentioned that before and that it should not be an issue that I only called in about my transmission. Granted I did before when I first started I noticed that the brakes were like going being pushed all the way down to the floor so in two years' time with my car I had to change my front brakes twice and I'm doing my back brakes now which they are they were installed incorrectly so which is costing more money a total that I have paid out of pocket so far for front back brakes new tires so far has been over $2000. Not saying that this can happen at other dealerships but I'm just saying if you're going to sell a car sell a car That's not in dire straits. Regardless of the stuff that they give to you when they first give you that packet it's your job as a consumer to detail to go through each thing detail by detail to see if these things have actually been done to the car. I feel that most people get duped by places like drive time because they don't do their research I do feel like I am one of those people that got duped because the amount of things that I have to get done on a car is well over the normal maintenance. I don't feel that I would actually refer anybody else to drive time because their vehicles are not up to my standings granite I have heard good things in the past but lately over the past four years the reviews and everything that I have read has not been good it makes me very sad to write this review because of the experience that I had. I would not hinder anybody from going to this dealership but myself personally I would not return I'm very displeased my car isn't very much dire straits and I'm stuck with all the financial cost of the repairs plus my car note insurance and of course yes granted that's not their fault however you should always make sure that you sell your customer a decent car within two years your car should not be falling apart I don't know if I'm crazy but that's just me I will not sell something to somebody knowing that the car will not last . DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERE! When I was in the market to buy a CAR I went to drive time because my credit wasn't that great. I was looking at 3 cars and comparing them side by side. All the cars had high mileage so I check all of them out and did a test drive on 2 of the 3 cars. The salesman assured me that all of there cars go through a rigorous inspection before they put the cars on the lots. I checked the engine, oils, and the over all condition of the car to see if there was any red flags that the cars had been in an accident because I don't trust the car fax. They did everything right to make there cars look they are in good condition but are not. They put extra warranties and to top it off the engine was burning oil after 4 days. November 2011 I dropped from a massive heart attack in a coma for 12 days in the hospital 49 days flat lined 4 times my family did not know I had got the car the day after payment was due the collection dept. Was calling went I didn't answer they started calling the references I had listed most didn't know I was in the hospital then they went to social media in started getting family and friends private information started calling all kinds of people they did not even know me. I had to get it towed over 3 times for the same issues that they couldn't resolve. They also forced me to take it to a Chevy dealership and I had to pay the bill for a vehicle that I only used for the first three weeks. Did I mention that it took three more weeks to find the issue and they didn't even give me a rental vehicle? I will post this on every website I can. They only care for your money. I highly recommend this place for those of us out there who have bad credit, but are trying to fix it. They report to the credit bureaus so that you can start getting some positive reporting. And most importantly they have good solid cars that all come standard with a warranty! They put us into a luxury car with decent milage for the same down payment and monthly payments that we would get through one of those shady "tote the note" lots, but the vehicle is way, way nicer. And we are building our credit with these guys! However; if you have decent credit, or a very large down payment I would not recommend this place. The prices and interest rates are high, as you might imagine due to the target customers. Also, the salesman said the car had Bluetooth but it didn't. I think this was an honest mistake, but he could have checked into it before saying that. I was able to get into the car I wanted with less than a 1000 down. The in house financing was not the worst interest rate ever either. They claim to have mechanics look at your car before they sell them and sell you pieces of junk that you will have to go back to the mechanic every other day getting repairs done for the same issue. I have never had a mechanic tell me that my car should not have been legal to dive in the road. That after the repairs were made it made it legal again so this places sells your cars that will mess up on you after your warranty expires. Which is most dealerships. I came to this place bc I thought they sold actually good used cars and yes I know the car was used but I'm more upset if the face that drive time sold me a car that wasn't legal or safe for me to drive. When I purchased my vehicle and drive off with it I didn't even get option to have my car detailed and cleaned they gave it to me dusty full of dirt had to play close to another bill after I got the car to get get it detailed so it looked presentable. I recently purchased a used vehicle from Drive Time. I originally gave a good review. I would like to rescind that one and give a more accurate review. The car I purchased was not clean to sat the least. I was offered an option of a tank of gas or car wash. I was told the car wash wasn't a complete detail. The least they could have done was take the previous owners belongings out of the vehicle. I drove away happy but not fully confident in my purchse. The next day I noticed the car may have a mechanical issue. I called the warranty company and they gave me a list of several in network repair shops. Most of the shops have bad reviews themselves. None of them offer a shuttle service or anything of that nature if you were to have to leave the vehicle with them. So I tried calling the one service center that Drive Time has First, of all the business doesn't open until 10:00. What car dealership opens at 10:00? Not a very professional one. I left several messages and still no call back after several days of waiting. I have spoken with the manager at the Drive Time on the Gulf Freeway, Juan, his suggestion was to call the warranty company. I did that Juan. I have spoken with my salesman, Reggie. He said he was going to call Juan. I haven't heard back from either of them. I now fully regret this purchase. I have driven over the 300 miles I was allotted to change my mind about the purchase. I would gladly give them this car back if I didn't have to pay 1.00 per mile over the 300. If you are considering a purchase with them. STOP. THINK about it. PRAY. THINK about it again. I simply went in to let them do a tune up on my truck that I paid them $300 to do and a week latter my truck was tapping under the hood. I called to tell them the problem and the very nasty rude "Senior Service Adviser" Melissa Caldwell (sp?) told me she was book for the next two Saturdays straight. I said "So you want me to drive my truck for two more weeks tapping not knowing what's the issue and chance screwing it up?" She said well you don't know if what we did cause the tapping. Long story short, those S.S.O.B did not connect the #5 spark plug to the coil. I had to bring my truck to a different MORE PROFESSIONAL Mechanic to figure out the issue. He said I was lucky because it could have damaged my engine/pistons. These people are trying to fuck up peoples vehicles to keep their piece of job at your expense. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! They may be cheaper but it will be more expensive in the long run. I won't ever go back not even to let them honor the warranty still left on my Tahoe...NO SIR!
