I booked a rental over a week in advance of my pick up date. Two hours before my pick up time, I get this on the main message from the company basically saying I should maybe become one to two hours later since there's a high demand with customers at the moment. At 8 o'clock once they opened, an hour before my pick up time I tried calling the office and couldn't reach anyone. Because I had an itinerary, I decided to ignore the message and go in at my pick up time which was 9 AM. When speaking to the main desk person and telling them about the message, he basically mentioned that it is true because there might be not enough cars due to the supply and demand of customers which is that not the whole point of me doing a reservation? He said he has car for me and by 9:20, after signing appropriate documents etc. I was on my way. I had no complaints of the pick up process, the actual car that was given or the return policy because that went all very smoothly and efficiently. I just don't appreciate that I had to worry about not getting a car when I had a scheduled itinerary for the day and booked the car reservation 10 days prior. read more

Easy onboarding and great customer service - They texted me on the morning of mentioning a potential delay and to arrive a bit later. Accommodation - My SUV rental was running late so they gave me another car that was available asap and reduced my overall cost and gave me a discount. 4. Absolutely unacceptable experience. I had a confirmed reservation from July 5 through July 9 with an 11:00 AM pickup. Less than two hours before my reservation, they canceled it with nothing more than a brief "sorry" text message. I called immediately, hoping they could help find a solution, but the representative was less than helpful. I was simply told they had no cars and that I should cancel my reservation. They also told me this location and the nearby locations had no cars available, period. How is a rental car company completely out of rental cars? Canceling on customers at the last minute with virtually no notice is incredibly unprofessional and completely disrupted my travel plans. This is now the second--and absolutely the last--time I will ever rent from this company. The experience was unacceptable. Maybe, because this isn't an airport location, they operate under completely different and unreasonable rules. I was required to provide proof of full coverage insurance, and when I couldn't, I was forced to purchase their Collision Damage Waiver, at a DAILY cost that was higher than the rental itself. That alone is outrageous. Then I was told they need to perform a "soft" credit check. My credit is locked, so instead of offering a reasonable alternative, they made me pull up my credit information on Credit Karma. Completely inappropriate and unnecessary. It gets worse. Most rental companies place a HOLD on your credit card for a deposit. Not here. Drivo/ACE actually CHARGED my card and then had the audacity to say it could take up to THREE WEEKS to return MY money--despite their own contract stating it's a hold. That is misleading at best. I waited, assuming they would deduct tolls and return the remaining balance. Instead, they charged my card separately for tolls and still refused to return the deposit promptly. When I complained, I was told to wait two weeks before even requesting escalation--and up to three weeks total for a refund. Why should customers have to chase their own money for weeks when the car was returned without damage? I have already disputed this so-called "hold" with my credit card company. Based on my experience, this does not feel like an isolated issue--it seems like a pattern where deposits are quietly converted into charges and held for weeks. What makes this even more frustrating is that my first experience with ACE was completely different. I was able to use my credit card insurance, no credit pull was required, and the deposit hold was released within three business days. This inconsistency only reinforces how poorly this location is run. I will NEVER rent from this company again. I ended up cancelling my entire weekend and spent the next 3 weeks calling and emailing customer support to get my full refund, I am still dealing with their support on reimbursing me for the cab fare to and from their LGA location. Driver BEWARE! There are hidden fees. I experienced an $89 toll charge for a one day rental from NY To PA. They hold your deposit for 30 days. When booking it says: "There is a 9.95 USD per day toll usage fee." There is no mention of the customer paying the tolls. I have never paid $89 toll pass. It usually cost approx $30 for a travel pass with another rental company. I would have never booked with this company and never will moving forward. Please beware. I am a very fequent customer so it's always easy-in and easy-out for me since I know all the questions they will ask and have my info already loaded in the computer... the only downside is that I was renting a car for work purposes this time around, and they wouldn't accept our corporate credit card since it's not from a typical bank with a local branch. I therefore had no choice but to put the expense on my personal credit card PLUS AN ADDITIONAL $500 DEPOSIT - which they hold for about 4 weeks, until they see if any tolls or tickets get charged back to them. If they agree to accept any typical credit card, (even one where there is no local branch they can walk in to), or if they agree to have a manager have the ability to override/waive this silly rule for frequent, known/trusted customers, I'd change my review to 5 stars! When I said that was ridiculous, the guy claimed to go check with his boss, then came back and told me it was fine after all, I should come there, only not too early, at the end of the day close to when I was due to return it. I had been planning to come early but said fine, and when I showed up there, the office was closed, the street was closed, and no one was in the office to answer the phone. I had to call the corporate customer service and stayed in the car for an hour trying to get someone to help--and then had to drive out to JFK and figure out how to get home. Horrendous experience.
