Absolutely unacceptable experience. I had a confirmed reservation from July 5 through July 9 with an 11:00 AM pickup. Less than two hours before my reservation, they canceled it with nothing more than a brief "sorry" text message. I called immediately, hoping they could help find a solution, but the representative was less than helpful. I was simply told they had no cars and that I should cancel my reservation. They also told me this location and the nearby locations had no cars available, period. How is a rental car company completely out of rental cars? Canceling on customers at the last minute with virtually no notice is incredibly unprofessional and completely disrupted my travel plans. This is now the second--and absolutely the last--time I will ever rent from this company. The experience was unacceptable. Maybe, because this isn't an airport location, they operate under completely different and unreasonable rules. I was required to provide proof of full coverage insurance, and when I couldn't, I was forced to purchase their Collision Damage Waiver, at a DAILY cost that was higher than the rental itself. That alone is outrageous. Then I was told they need to perform a "soft" credit check. My credit is locked, so instead of offering a reasonable alternative, they made me pull up my credit information on Credit Karma. Completely inappropriate and unnecessary. It gets worse. Most rental companies place a HOLD on your credit card for a deposit. Not here. Drivo/ACE actually CHARGED my card and then had the audacity to say it could take up to THREE WEEKS to return MY money--despite their own contract stating it's a hold. That is misleading at best. I waited, assuming they would deduct tolls and return the remaining balance. Instead, they charged my card separately for tolls and still refused to return the deposit promptly. When I complained, I was told to wait two weeks before even requesting escalation--and up to three weeks total for a refund. Why should customers have to chase their own money for weeks when the car was returned without damage? I have already disputed this so-called "hold" with my credit card company. Based on my experience, this does not feel like an isolated issue--it seems like a pattern where deposits are quietly converted into charges and held for weeks. What makes this even more frustrating is that my first experience with ACE was completely different. I was able to use my credit card insurance, no credit pull was required, and the deposit hold was released within three business days. This inconsistency only reinforces how poorly this location is run. I will NEVER rent from this company again. Two days prior to my reservation I received a call that they did not have a car available at their DUMBO location so I needed to now go to their LGA location. All the man on the phone could say was "there's nothing I can do" and was less than helpful. When I arrived at LGA at the time of my reservation the attendant informed me that there were no cars available and did not know when the next car would arrive. I ended up cancelling my entire weekend and spent the next 3 weeks calling and emailing customer support to get my full refund, I am still dealing with their support on reimbursing me for the cab fare to and from their LGA location. Renting from Drivo has been an absolute nightmare from start to finish, save your time, energy, and money and go rent from literally anywhere else. read more

Driver BEWARE! There are hidden fees. I experienced an $89 toll charge for a one day rental from NY To PA. They hold your deposit for 30 days. When booking it says: "There is a 9.95 USD per day toll usage fee." There is no mention of the customer paying the tolls. I have never paid $89 toll pass. It usually cost approx $30 for a travel pass with another rental company. I would have never booked with this company and never will moving forward. Please beware. I booked with Ace and started receiving emails from Drivo. I spent $200 for renting a Toyota Compact car for one day...one day. How crazy is that! In this economy, I am very careful how I spend!!! I am a very fequent customer so it's always easy-in and easy-out for me since I know all the questions they will ask and have my info already loaded in the computer... the only downside is that I was renting a car for work purposes this time around, and they wouldn't accept our corporate credit card since it's not from a typical bank with a local branch. I therefore had no choice but to put the expense on my personal credit card PLUS AN ADDITIONAL $500 DEPOSIT - which they hold for about 4 weeks, until they see if any tolls or tickets get charged back to them. If they agree to accept any typical credit card, (even one where there is no local branch they can walk in to), or if they agree to have a manager have the ability to override/waive this silly rule for frequent, known/trusted customers, I'd change my review to 5 stars! The car is worked really good information about tolls wasn't started clearly its ridiculous to be charged $71.95 for one day charge after going over the verazano bridge. Ridiculous charge for insurance coverage for the car but passenger coverage was upserd and was only mentioned after the car was booked. And that 200 hold on uh card upsetting. I had a business trip on 03/23-03-26, While I booked the car, it showed $118, and it didn't request proof of insurance. while I went to pick up the car, I asked couple questions, the front desk guy who was helping me couldn't answer that well, and the other guy who was helping other customer answered couple of my questions. That should ring a bell, but I was in a rush, so didn't think that much. He asked for my driver license, and began to let me choose which protection plan I wanted for my trip. I said I didn't need extra one, he said they won't rent a car without it. So I thought it was the rule, and the rental was cheap, so the insurance was the money making part, and I didn't have time to search other company, so I signed the contract. After I visited the customer, I found out they cannot do that, so I called the customer service and submitted my proof of insurance, they said they would investigate and refund the money. I checked every single day, and on 03/26, while I returned the car, the service guy was so inpatient and cold, he said there was no record that I called customer service, and it was not his job to handle this. Then I didn't get a single glance from him. I called customer service again, they said since I already signed the contract, so there was nothing they can do. And it was my responsibility to read it closely before signature. Their stuff did nothing wrong. I was wondering why their stuff didn't ask my insurance first, is this about discrimination? BRK-20341 I reserved a car and extended the rental, but had to cut it short and fly out of town due to a family member having a heart attack and stroke. I confirmed the refund amount and was provided with an invoice upon returning the vehicle on 4/4. I confirmed the amount of the refund offered to me at location specifically *before* agreeing to return the car early, as my second driver would have kept if we couldn't confirm a sufficient refund. Everything was confirmed, emailed in print, and car returned. I never received the refund. When I called customer service they confirmed the refund hadn't been processed yet and that it would be --$300 less than promised to me at this location upon returning the vehicle, that's over $300 less than the refund amount printed on my return invoice received when returning the car. I called customer care 2 days ago and was told they'd contact the rental location to look into it and call me the next day. I did not receive a call back. I called customer care 2 days later and they are adamant that I will not receive the refund promised to me at this location when returning the car. The customer care agent, on a recorded line none the less, threatened to hang up on me multiple times, was incredibly rude, demanded I accept a refund if $300 less than promised and insisted that any disputation is arguing and he would hang up on me. Outrageous! I had to remind him we are on a recorded line multiple times and that I'm a customer attempting to receive support and a non-disputable refund amount printed on my receipt. I tried to resolve this though multiple customer care calls without needing to report to my credit card, but I'm not receiving support from ACE/drivo, not receiving promised call backs to fix the issue, and most importantly-not receiving the refund promised to me. The rental agency initially didn't want to extend because they had a shortage of cars, so I believe they intentionally defrauded me to get me to return the car for their benefit without refunding the promised amount. This is fraud. I'm incredibly disappointed. Please contact me to resolve and issue the refund promised upon returning the car. read more
