DropSmashFix misleads customers about the quality of the replacement parts they use. They claim to use OEM parts which to any normal person would mean that they are Original Equipment Manufacturer parts. However, DropSmashFix changed the definition of OEM and actually uses what they define as "Orignal Equivalent Manufacturer" parts which are inferior quality to Apple parts. I paid over $100 to have my phone screen fixed only to have it break the next week after falling off of a couch seat WITH a case (2ft drop). The screen shattered again which would not have happened with truly OEM parts. We called to complain about the quality of the parts and that's when we discovered that they had changed the definition of OEM. You get what you pay for, next time go to the Apple store. read more

The power connection on my iPhone 5 was flakey and came in to see if it could be repaired. They did a great job with that repair (has worked flawlessly since the repair) but after the repair I noticed that my front facing camera was not working. (I never had a problem with that prior to the repair.) They offer a warranty so I dropped it off again but they were unable to repair the front-facing camera. A day later I realized that both the phone speaker and mic no longer work and the front glass is starting to pop up on the corner. The phone is old (over two years) and I'm not particularly gentle with it so I knew I would have to replace it eventually but am disappointed that the phone is in worse condition than it was prior to the repair. Everyone at the store was super nice. Two stars for that. I strongly recommend that if you choose this repair store check your device completely before leaving the store. Make sure all the hardware works (speakers, mic, cameras, volume button, etc.). Probably good advice for any repair store. read more

I wanted to place a screen protector on my ipad but struggled doing so by myself. I came here and these guys saved me from a lot of trouble! They were very nice and didn't want any money for placing on the screen protector. I was very impressed with the service here. They took their time to make sure it was perfect. They put on gloves, wiped the screen a few times, and placed it with precision. Plus this location is close by! I brought my Pixel 2 phone with a cracked screen to dropsmashfix in Santa Monica for repair. The phone had had a cracked screen for months but worked fine otherwise. When I picked it up, the screen was working, however, within hours it began to intermittently not respond to touch controls. I brought it back, and was told (after several weeks of delay) that the phone was no longer responding to touch controls at all and that there was no way for dropsmashfix to repair it or even get it back to the state it was before I brought it in. The phone never had any issue responding to touch controls until I brought it to dropsmashfix for repairs. (I used the phone with a cracked screen for months before bringing it in, so I know that this problem was unrelated to the cracked screen.) And, the problem began immediately after I picked it up from dropsmashfix. Based on that, it appears that what is causing the problem is something that dropsmashfix did during the repair itself, and not a pre-existing issue with the phone. Although the phone had a cracked screen, it was a working phone that had value and that I used for months, and that would have served as an adequate backup phone. Now, the phone has no value because the screen does not work at all, so it is impossible to control it. I requested that dropsmashfix provide me with the value of a pixel 2 with a cracked screen. They refused, and said they could not even give me a full refund (they would refund service but not parts). I should not have to pay dropsmashfix anything to break my phone for me. read more

As of 2/17/2016 these guys have an 88% 5-star rating - that's extremely rare (with good sample size of ratings: 117). And it's true - I give them 5 stars also. Almost all they do is smartphone repairs - but I had a completely different issue: a Bose noise-reducing headphone set with a battery that leaked with the ensuing gunk causing it to be stuck inside the tiny battery compartment on the side of the earpiece. That situation would make the $300 headphones totally useless. But Raphael was all over it - he was honest with me: we don't usually do this; I'll see what I can do; but I can't promise anything. Less than an hour later he called me: he had gotten the battery out, cleaned out the leaked battery ooze from the battery compartment and the connectors, and with a new battery the headphones were working fine. Headphones as good as new! Raphael's a great tech and great with customer service. I recommend these guys. read more

I have had problems for three months with my lap top not recognizing my iPhone 6S to download photos or perform a back up. I've been on the phone with Apple support for hours trying to resolve it, including doing system diagnosis downloads for their engineering people to analyze. Ultimately they told me it was a hardware issue and I make an appointment to go to an Apple Store for possible repair. Apple charges a set price of $300 to repair out of warranty iPhones. Highly recommended for westside phone screen repair. I shattered my LG G3 and they were obtained the OEM part within a few day and replaced it back to new. Price was competitive and less than other quotes in the area. Phil was very helpful, profession and a nice guy. They gave me phone and email updates when the screen arrived and when the install had been completed. I had a warranty issue with the screen that came up randomly a month later and they spoke to the manager and fixed the issue same day. Wow- I wish I had always known about DropSmashFix. Unfortunately, I wasted time and money at another iPhone fix place down the street and they made my phone even worse. The other place replaced my battery without telling me which then exploded and caused my phone to swell ruining the screen they installed....great. As always, not a fan of the long review. Phone dropped in some water - totally submerged. Stuck it in a bag with rice and brought it in the next day. They guys took it for one day, no deposit charged. $50 estimate fee for water damage. They opened and dried the phone and tried to fix the screen but were unsuccessful. The next day I picked up the phone. They were up front and stated they were unable to fix the phone, however, it did appear to be working. They did not charge me the $50 because they could not guarantee the work. I left a tip. The phone is currently working with no apparent issues (knock on wood!). The guy that helped me out was straight forward, open and honest. If another one of our phones has an issue, I will come back and use their services. Cheers. read more
