I've been to this place twice and ordered several items from them. Ed is a great, personable guy that isn't out to price gouge or wring every last dollar from you. When I made my first and only purchase, the shop was immediately notified that the snare would incur a long rough journey overseas to Moscow, Russia via Diplomatic USPS, the only shipping service provided for overseas US Diplomats. Upon ordering, I asked for there to be extra secure packaging considering the long trip, and I was reassured it would be packed suitably for the rough journey. When the snare arrived damaged, in 1 layer of small bubble wrap, the shop was immediately notified. After 2 days of no response, on the third day I contacted them again, finally getting a response. The blame for the damage was placed solely on Diplomatic USPS without any justification, and an attempt was even made to blame the poor packaging on Russian customs, claiming it was likely repackaged after an inspection. This was also false, as the shipment never goes through Customs as a diplomatic parcel, it arrived exactly the same as it left Drum Flip. I was immediately met with the response from Drum Flip that it wouldn't be covered by them, and it wasn't their fault it arrived damaged. The replacement rim was $66.02, and after going back and forth, $30 was refunded to me, but never the offer to send it back for a full refund. At that point, it was better than footing the full bill for the negligent packaging that was again reassured by the shop upon ordering. They told me that most shops wouldn't offer any refund/return, however, I believe most shops would uphold their guarantee to package securely to avoid such a situation and gain a return customer. I'm genuinely believe the shop's intention is not to get over on anyone but to provide a good product as their other reviews justify, however, I had a much different first hand experience. You'll find some high end models from all the well known brands such as Tama, Gretsch, and Pearl. I brought in some cymbals for trade and ended up ordering a new Tama. Needed to sell a nice starter drum kit. A musician friend said to call Drum Flip. A few days later I called and spoke wit Ed. He asked me to send him some pics of all the pieces in the kit, which I had described to him, via text. I quickly shot some pics and sent them to him. A few minutes later Ed replied with a fair offer. He also advised me I could get a about 15% more selling it on Craigslist. I sent back a counter offer to Ed which he quickly accepted and the deal was on. We set a date for me to bring him the kit. Once I arrived, Ed and his wife introduced themselves and Ed assisted me in bringing in all the pieces. A quick look as he carried the pieces inside and he cut me the check. Ed showed me around the shop and almost sold me on another item. His inventory is beautiful and he couldn't be nicer or more fair to deal with. Sweet Jesus. Oh how I've missed music stores like this... The owners are genuinely passionate and totally service minded. Absolutely a couple of the friendliest and most non-elitist people you will meet in this industry. We drove down from Long Beach this morning to grab a "player's kit" special they posted on their Instagram. For jollies we took a set along with us we were interested in trading. We bought the Instagram set on the spot and began looking around. They had beautiful vintage slingerland and ludwig sets and get this... THEY WERE FAIRLY PRICED. They aren't looking to gouge you like other shops. Definitely a store by drummers for drummers with an appreciation for the struggling artist that just wants something good. The used deals are fantastic. The new kits are gorgeous. As frequent rats of the LA Pro Shops, this shop is totally worth keeping an eye on and totally worth the drive. I ended up trading my kit in after being offered what I felt was a fair deal. I also ended up picking up a cafe kit for my daughter! Came with one kit, left with two and complete satisfaction. Not a smidge of buyer's remorse. They are a small mom and pop so be prepared to wait if it is busy but I promise you it's worth it.
