As my time in SLC is coming to an end, my goal is to eat as much as I can at all the local joints before I head home where we don't have all these fun options. My sister and I were actually looking up dinner options last night while we were at dinner. We like to plan ahead. We wanted some chow fun, did some research and found Beijing. This joint is about 10 minutes away from our Airbnb. We pulled up, walked in and was in awwww at how pretty this joint is. It was bright, colorful and beautifully decorated. It's one of the prettiest Chinese restaurants I have seen in town. It was slow so my sister and I got sat right away. We ordered our hot tea and dinner at the same time. I got the chow fun with chicken. I was hoping for fried tofu but it wasn't an option. My sister got the chow fun special which came with chicken, beef and shrimp. We were sipping on our tea for a bit and our food was already done. Mannnnn did our chow fun look amazing! You can smell the char from the wok. The noodles looked chunky. There was a lot of chicken, sprouts and onion through out the dish. It was a beautiful plate of chow fun. The noodles were chewy and soft. The chicken was velveted so it was tender and soft. The sprouts and onion added a nice crunchy element to the dish. It was savory. It was a hearty plate of noodles and honestly my sister and I probably could have shared a plate. I ate about a third of it and still have a a whole to go box container for tomorrow. I will be finishing that box even if it takes a couple days to complete. It's too good to waste. The staff was really nice here. The venue is clean, bright and modern. The chow fun they pushed out today was stellar. It was one of the best meals I have had in SLC. I'm happy my sister and I found this joint. I'm supposed to come back in April. This will be a joint I'll have to hit up when I do. I'll have to get another plate of chow fun in in my short visit in April.

Beijing Restaurant is my go-to Chinese restaurant in SLC. Tucked away in Sugarhouse behind some construction, it's best to drive North on 700 E and make a right by the Beans & Brews. After it opened, I brought a group of my friends to try out the dishes. The restaurant is clean and spacious, and the service is fast and friendly. My friends loved every single dish, with the green beans, cumin lamb, and spicy boiled fish as the highlight. I've returned and tried more dishes including mapo tofu, eggplant, Mongolian beef, and sesame chicken. Everything has been tasty with the exception of a couple inconsistencies. My only complain is that the green beans are sometimes stale and the cumin lamb is sometimes hard to chew. Definitely pay it a visit if you're looking for a great Chinese restaurant!

Quick fast service- we ordered and food came out hot and fresh. The inside of the restaurant is cute and very clean. Servers are quick and friendly and very attentive. The parking can be a little tight since the plaza it's in had a lot of different places. Great portion sizes although I was expecting the food to be a little spicier. I do agree with other reviews that the general tao chicken was the perfect amount of crispy on the outside.

    11. Szechuan Pickled Vegetables. Delicious but definitely spicy! Glad for the rice!

Absolutely delicious dinner tonight!! My husband and I shared all the dishes, plus I had a cup of oolong tea, which they refreshed with more hot water. We started with #11, Szechuan Picked Vegetables. Very spicy!! They were good, but I might not order again. #54 Sautéed Shredded Cabbage was my favorite!! Spicy, but in a flavorful way. #58 Eggplant in House Garlic Sauce actually wasn't that spicy, which was okay since our other two dishes were spicier. We also got a side of rice. Even though the portions were fairly large, my husband and I were able to finish everything, I think partly due to the fact that all of the dishes were really light. A really refreshing meal! Beijing is beautifully decorated and the service was great!! I can't wait to come back and try more dishes. The lunch menu looks good too!

This food tastes legit. I used to live in Los Angeles and would go to San Gabriel Valley a lot. I also just got back from China. It's one of the only places in Utah that tastes authentic. There are some American Chinese food options on the menu so if you're looking for something legit, stay away from anything with bell peppers. I love getting the cold noodles and the green beans. I don't eat meat and neither of these have meat. Green onion pancake was just ok. Highly recommend if you are looking for good Chinese food in Utah!

They have Authentic Chinese food. Tasty food and great services. I have tried different Chinese restaurants in salt lake. This is definitely a hidden gem that I will recommend to all of my friends. Shredded pork with bean sauce: 3/5 Shrimp with salty egg yolks: 5/5 Stir fired pigs kidney:5/5 very tender Beef soup: 4/5 Stir fried pea shoots: 5/5

I think they toned down on the spiciness to cater to the average audience. It was way more spicy when they first opened. Overall not bad. Definitely would come back. Service is good as usual.

Great Chinese restaurants. Dishes quite authentic. Spicy and large portion service good and quick. Perfect for group and sharing.

Great northern style Chinese food. All very flavorful and spot on to what we were expecting. We made the mistake and ordered a lot of fried meats and no "cleaner" dishes with veggies so it was a heavy meal. The eggplant was good, but pretty much sitting in a huge bowl of oil haha. The shredded pork dish with mantou was a table favorite (and we got it because other tables srpund us ordered it too). Service was SUPER fast for the first night of CNY. Inside was clean and confortable, with good lighting and decor. Overall, if you like Northern Chinese food, this place does the flavors right. But order wisely so you can enjoy a more balanced meal haha.

Beijing serves authentic and delicious dishes that truly capture the essence of Chinese cuisine. I ordered the Fish Fillet Golden Soup, Dry-Braised Green Beans, and Kung Pao Chicken. Every dish is prepared with Szechuan flavors and the natural richness typical of Chinese food. The Fish Fillet Golden Soup, served in a very large bowl, was a standout--the fish was incredibly tender and buttery. It's perfect for family-style sharing. The menu is extensive, with over 100 items to choose from. I can't wait to return and try other dishes like the sautéed intestines and seafood. There's so much variety to explore! Also, the restaurant is cute and clean.

    chongqing style chili chicken

This place was recommended as a top spot for authentic Chongqing chicken and mapo tofu, and it did not disappoint. They call it 'tofu in house special spicy sauce' so I might be misnaming something, but both dishes were delicious and packed with spice. There was plenty of food, so we ended up boxing the tofu, and it held up really well for leftovers. I'll definitely be coming back. The vibe was casual, with decor that gave off a traditional, warm feel--nice and inviting. The staff wasn't the most attentive, but we didn't have to wait too long for anything.

Staff is friendly and great customer service! Food was fast, especially when we were hungry on a Sunday!

Great new Chinese restaurant with authentic dishes. There's surprisingly plenty of seating for what appeared to be a small restaurant from the outside. Parking is also plentiful. Service is efficient. We ordered the lemon crispy shrimp, the boiled beef szechuan beef and a chicken lo mein. The portions were huge but prices are on the steep side for Chinese food. The shrimp was essentially over $1 a piece. Hard to fathom when living in Houston, tx, it was rare to see a dish hitting $15. They also charge for the white rice which at most restaurants is included. It definitely satisfied my craving for good, authentic, Chinese food, but at a cost.

This tastes like mom's kitchen if mom had a high flamed gas stove. The dishes that benefited from that smoky hot wok flavor had it. I was so excited to eat I forgot to take pics of all the dishes at the table. Green beans with garlic was so tasty, I finished the leftovers the same night, I remembered to take a photo in the takeout container. The cauliflower (I don't know the actual name but it's stir fried, spicy and comes with peppers) had wok hei and I couldn't stop eating it. Beef rolls is the sophisticated auntie of the scallion pancake. Think of it like an asian burrito with thin sliced beef, fresh scallion and cilantro, and a touch of hoisin all hugged together with a crispy tasty scallion pancake. The shredded potato tastes like the best potato salad that isn't your picnic potato salad. The shredded potatoes were quickly blanched then stir fried preserving the crunch and crispness similar to al dente pasta. Seasoning was on point. The homiest flavor came from the stewed short rib. The rib pieces were braised in a soy and star anise sauce like what you find in Taiwanese beef noodle soup. The peels potatoes were cut rustically and just cooked through and not mushy. Authentic flavors and freshness like this is so so hard to come by. I can taste the quality of the ingredients used. One tip I have for selecting authentic food is by looking at the customers. If the customers are all Asian eating at an Asian restaurant, you know the food is going to be good. Service was 10/10, waitress was super polite and stopped by to chat with us about the food and SLC. I am from out of town but I grew up eating at NYC Asian restaurants and this is as good as if not better. If you happen to stop by the largest Costco in the world, make a pit stop here to refuel after all those steps.

I couldn't tell you what they put in it other than to tell you, it doesn't matter. Well I could tell you that it has green onion and char siu. The thing I order every single time is the beef roll. Be prepared for a culinary adventure, you won't be disappointed.

Conveniently, we are in town for a couple days and our hotel is just right down the road. It was only right to mark this joint off my SLC food list. We came in around 5 and it was empty. My MIL and I picked a booth by the windows. I enjoy seeing the buzz of this city. It's was chaotic outside but so chill inside. It was nice to have the joint to ourselves. Jay served us tonight. He dropped off a couple menus and got some waters started for us. It was my MIL's first time trying Vietnamese cuisine. It took her a minute to breeze over the menu. As much as I wanted everything, I started off with a cup of the hot and sour soup. For dinner I got the black bean shrimp with veggies. My MIL decided on the bun thit nuong with cha gio. Last minute my MIL decided on some hot and sour soup too. They were dropped off first and it was perfect for hot soup on this cold winter day. The broth was thick and flavorful. It had hearty pieces of tofu, water chestnuts and bamboo shoots. The soup had a good heat to it. The heat didn't hit you right away, it gradually got spicier the more you ate it. My mouth was burning towards the end of my bowl. It was good but it could have been a bit more sour. My plate of black bean shrimp and veggies came out hot! The veggies looked fresh and colorful. The shrimp were plump. And the sauce smelled flavorful and salty from the fermented black bean. You can tell my dish just came out fresh from the wok. The veggies and shrimp were so hot! The shrimp were perfectly cooked. The zucchini, green peppers and bamboo shoots were my favorite. All the veggies were covered in sauce, probably the best way to eat your veggies. I ate the whole plate! I'm not the biggest fan of water chestnuts and I even polished those off. My dish was fantastic. Jay did a great job serving us tonight. He was patient and attentive. He checked up on us several times even though he was so busy with to go orders. The location of this joint was so convenient. Even though it was freezing out, it was cool to walk to dinner. But it's also got to know they have parking available for their guests. Jay did a great job taking care of us tonight. And the food was spot on. I still have quite a few places I need to hit up when I'm in SLC but if we stay in the area again, I will have to hit up Red Lotus again. It was hands down a great meal and experience.

There's a small bar area too. For drinks, we had a soda and I ordered sweet tea. Had I known the tea was bottled I would've ordered something else. It has lemon in it and it's not my fancy. For starters, we had the fresh spring rolls and egg rolls. The spring rolls are pretty straight forward with fresh mint also. The egg rolls were a little different from what we'd consider traditional but they were good. I also had the sweet n sour soup which was good. The Peking wings were crispy and piping hot on the inside. Would absolutely order again. The shrimp pad thai was sweet and delicious.

The look of the restaurant inside has changed a few times. when I was there last there was a casual seating area at the back of the restaurant. There were people there waiting for takeout orders. I always have to order the cold cucumber salad. It is a great accompaniment to any dish. I added the peanuts to the cucumbers because I really like them together so if you order the cucumbers, they will not come with peanuts. It is a strange request, but they accommodated me with no problem. They had a case at the front of the restaurant with grapes and strawberries, skewered and coated in a crunchy sugary coating.
