My experience with this company (Novato branch) twice was very mediocre. The communication is overall not great. Robert, one of the supervisors was not responsive for 5 days when there was an escrow closing that was in jeopardy. The workers seemed to do a great job, I would suggest that you get everything in writing - very clearly to avoid unexpected billing surpises for add ons later. Had some water damage from leaking dishwasher. Rep came out and inspected, provided a quote. He said he or someone else would be project manager for the job; never happened. When I called to inquire, they said they had no plans to come onsite; how can you project manage a job when you don't come to the worksite?? We only dealt with "technician teams" that rotated by day. So no consistency, no project management, poor communication. They also damaged our baseboards and removed wood framing unnecessarily that we now have to repair. Stay away. read more

We had 6 inches of water in the subspace 2 weeks ago, after the big rain. Dry Kings had Robert O'Boyle out within 24 hours of my call. He completed the inspection and gave me a complete rundown of what, when, why and how much. He coordinated work with another contractor to minimize gaps in service and responded promptly to my text questions. Juan Reyes headed the work under the house. He was prompt, answered my questions and reassured me about the plan. He took great care to minimize the impact of the muddy work to my home. While the project to dry out a section of a wall was completed, we had a very negative experience where a miscommunication led to a delay. They blamed the customer and charged us significantly more. By this time, there was no way to end the contract as they left their equipment over the weekend, so we felt bullied into it. We discovered some extensive water damage under our kitchen sink along the back of the cabinet and drywall, even extending into an adjacent bay. I called Dry Kings (I believe it was Labor Day even) and immediately spoke to someone who took down my information and said they would work to get me on the schedule for an assessment. Additionally, they asked if I would like to have a plumber they've worked with come out to provide a free repair estimate. None of the other remediation companies I called offered to help coordinate a plumber so I was pretty happy with this and it's great that it's a plumber they worked with before. This turned out not to have been a good idea. More on this later! Justin came out to do the initial remediation assessment. He was running behind schedule but called way in advance to let me know. He also called when he was on his way. When he arrived, he put on booties (some other companies just walked in with their dirty boots) and did a thorough examination. He also took a lot of time to explain how the remediation process would work and answered many questions. In comparison to other companies, Justin definitely took the time to make sure I had a good understanding of the process whereas I felt others were in and out in less than 30 mins. I really appreciated this! Ultimately, Dry Kings's estimate was significantly more than another local company (about 2x) so I didn't go with them, but I'd have no issues recommending them based on my interaction with Justin alone. So why not a 5 star review? Well it comes down to the plumber they coordinated. The plumber was to come out and provide a free estimate on the repair work. I didn't call them and never spoke to anyone at Hemi's Plumbing. In fact, I had no idea who the company was until the showed up and handed me a card. During the course of the assessment, the plumber (Jamal) asked if I would approve cutting open the back of the cabinet and drywall to allow him to inspect the sink drain, which we initially suspected as the cause of the leak. I agreed to this knowing that this was above and beyond the scope of the free assessment and fully expected to pay for this. After cutting the back of the cabinet open, he determined that the sink drain wasn't leaking but while running the kitchen tap, he noticed that the water supply line from the sprayer had a small leak. He tightened up the fitting to stop the leak, but I was initially a bit skeptical that was the sole cause of the water damage because it was pretty evident to me it was something behind the wall as oppose to inside the under-sink cabinet where we store a lot of things, including paper grocery bags, none of which exhibited any signs of water damage. I asked to settle up with him when he was done and he said he would coordinate that with Dry Kings. He arrived at my house at 1:57pm and was on his way out the door at 2:32pm. A couple hours later, I receive an invoice for $800 for 2 hours of labor. I emailed him to confirm that $400/hr was his standard rate and also asked ow he arrived at 2 hours of labor when the work above and beyond what was necessary to provide a free repair estimate took less than 30 mins in total. His response: "yes that's my standard rate $400/hr/employee I actually did not charge for Paul. But the two hours was 1 for the initial drive time. and my minimum is 1.5hrs." I later found out he drove in from the Peninsula, though I had no way of knowing this since I didn't call him. I later spoke to the ops manager at Dry Kings about the invoice and he seemed genuinely shocked by the amount and said he would call Hemi's Plumbing. I was completely shocked that Dry Kings based on Novato would have a plumber from San Bruno come out to do a repair estimate at a house in Petaluma. Additionally, there was no communication to me by Dry Kings about rate information, minimum hourly charges, etc, which I think for transparency is important to communicate with the customer when you're calling another contractor on their behalf. If you decide to work with Dry Kings (or any remediation company) and they offer to coordinate services of a third-party contractor, just be sure to get all of the information so you don't receive a surprise invoice. Ultimately, Dry Kings did call the plumber and the plumber refunded $375 (so in total, I paid $425 for what amounted to 20 minutes of work, so still pretty exorbitant IMO). read more

They first offered me a chunk of money just to delete my review, which I declined, asking again just for an apology and an honest invoice which I would pay in full. Then they sent flowers without warning, which I also wish they hadn't done; it just felt like more pressure to remove my review, and it interrupted my work day and left me with a bouquet that just reminded me of this painful ongoing process, which I didn't want, but didn't want to throw away because it felt so wasteful. I felt nervous that people would show up at my door again with more pressure. About a week later a manager returned from a vacation and caught up with messages. At that point they offered a full apology and explanation, and offered a partial refund of our costs. I'm updating my review here to thank them for the apology and for eventually making things right with us. Dry Kings has helped my team work on properties ranging from apartments in multi family buildings to condos and single family homes. They are extremely responsive (even after hours and on weekends), very professional, and do what it takes to get a job done correctly. The last time I had Dry Kings come out to view water damage assessment (which was complimentary) at a property in Greenbrae their technician told us that while they would be willing to do the work, they didn't believe their services were necessary, and that the owner could save funds by hiring a basic handyperson rather than their licensed contractors-it is not very often that contractors operate with that level of honesty. My husband and I noticed mold growing on the ceiling of our bathroom. We wanted to choose a company that was aware of the toxicity of mold and didn't just "do the job" of removal flippantly. Dry Kings came recommended to us. They are able to do work in Petaluma and our situation was taken care of right away (April 2023). John F was very responsive, professional and helpful answering clarifying questions and being very reasonable with my concerns. Tong and Tania came in to do the removal work. They were respectful of our space as well as us being in our home while they were working. Tong answered our questions as we asked. They worked hard and quickly, getting the removal done in less than 1 full work day. There were some speculations from the team that the mold could've stemmed from a possible roof leak, which I appreciated being mentioned. Once we investigated this further with the roofing company, we found out that it wasn't a roof leak. I am grateful that the damage was looked at from all angles though. Lastly, we were able to choose who we wanted to come in to perform the final mold test, post remediation. I felt good knowing that Dry Kings was so confident in their work that the customer could choose their own 3rd party to test. Our mold test came back clear... no more mold! Impressive customer service! Very responsive and HONEST! DKR came out within 2 days to inspect water damage from a pipe leak. We were concerned about possible mold growth. One company had come out and had given a $4k quote for remediation and urged that it had to be done immediately. I found that suspicious, so we called DKR for a second opinion. John Levy and Quinn came out to inspect the area, and were so professional and courteous. John said there was a small area of mold on drywall. It was not widespread as the other company quoted. He even tried to remove the drywall as a courtesy but it was too far out of reach. He was amazing. Cannot recommend DKR enough. read more

When I had a failed supply line, I was told by my handyman to get water restoration ASAP. Upon googling water restoration near me, I found Dry Kings, who had very positive reviews. So I took a chance and called them on the weekend, in fact, I believe it was a Sunday night. I was impressed at the immediate answer to my call for help; they also assured me that it's going to be OK and I'll get someone out there first thing the next morning. Sure enough the emergency call representative kept their word and had a very courteous Dry Kings project manager come out the very next early morning first thing. Talk about Customer Service! In fact, my project manager, who oversaw the whole encounter was Art, who was extremely personable, respectful, professional, and got the job done in a timely manner. I'm not sure of all his teammates names, but I do remember Tong as one of his team members being also exceptionally excellent, and providing me some detailed information about my Water restoration issue independently without supervision, in a way that I could understand. As a first time solo home owner submitting the first time ever solo home insurance claim, I felt respected and supported every step of the way by Art and his team. They had extreme confidence, which put me at ease, knowing I was in safe hands. I just wanna give a shout out to Art who related to me by breaking things down in a way that was digestible. Being a first time solo home owner newbie, I asked him to spell it out to me like I'm a kindergartner t, and he sure did, which I very much appreciate and felt safe under his umbrella as he led the project. One piece of advice I would recommend, is when making a claim, make sure that you understand what your home insurance policy covers and does not cover. I had smoke in my home because my open skylights were downwind of a neighbor's home that was in flames. I called the day after the fire and the Dry Kings estimators came out within a couple of hours to give me a quote to mitigate the strong smoke smell. They placed and turned on 3 HEPA air scrubbers near the skylights so the smoke smell mitigation could start. It really helped me sleep that night. The next morning the team of 5 came out and spent 8 hours getting rid of the smell and any ash. They did a great job in just that one day. read more

Around 5am on a Saturday morning we heard a loud pop in the attic.  Then, water started coming out of the ceiling!  A pipe to one of our fire sprinklers burst!  We got the water off in under 3 minutes but major damage had already occurred.  I did a quick search for a local restoration company and gave DryKings a call.  I got a call back in about 10 minutes and had a crew out here by 9am on a Saturday.  Not bad for a weekend! The team quickly reviewed the situation and instantly set up many drying fans with dehumidifiers.  We agreed that we would give things 48 hours to see if demolition would be needed.  After 48 hours we had some great drying but found that the walls were reinforced for earthquake needs so they were not going to dry.  The team then did a very careful job and removed the drywall to get targeted drying to occur.  After about a week the walls were dry! Finally, the floor was very stubborn to dry and eventually had to be removed.  The team returned to do that and we finally achieved perfect moisture conditions in all areas of the event. In the end we had no microbe or mold growth which was the goal. I had a few small issues during the work that I raised to the supervisor.  He (John) was super understanding and worked with me for a very fair solution.  I would have preferred that we had attacked a few areas faster/earlier and he agreed that I had a point.  In return he discounted several services to make it right.  I truly appreciate him listening and understanding vs charging me a fee and telling me that his hands were tied! The best part of this company is the crew - each person was respectful and genuinely kind!  They all worked super hard and saved a major section of our house from further destruction and microbe damage.  Although I like these guys I hope I don't have to call them again for awhile..haha :) read more

Since my review, this company has embarked upon a deluge of calls, texts, and unannounced visits to my home, first asking and then demanding I remove my review. I have EIGHT messages from them just from yesterday. They have refused to acknowledge any problems on their end or offer any solutions to solve them. They have sent over wine, gift card, food items - with a note attached telling me to remove my review. Still no estimate, explanation of what work they would recommend, or alternative solutions - as they keep saying they have. I decided to try to explain again to them my problem, hoping this would shed light on their poor business practices and how to change. Giving them the benefit of the doubt that it was a honest misunderstanding. I got an unbelievable reply calling me a liar, a horrible person, and that I must love destroying families - "you must be so proud of yourself" - from someone I've never talked to and was not present at my appointment. I've asked them to stop harassing me but still they are calling my phone, texting, and emailing with nasty messages Sometimes it takes something to go wrong to find the real character of a person and the company they manage. I've certainly have had my eyes opened. I only hope that just leave me alone and they change their attitude. read more

We are very pleased with the service that Dry Kings in Novato provided us. Our plumber discovered that we had a slow leak from our dishwasher that had caused water damage to our kitchen floor and we were concerned about possible mold damage. We called Dry Kings and Justin came out the next day to inspect the situation and gave us a quote for a mitigation plan. Justin was extremely knowledgeable, professional and very friendly. After we accepted the quote the mitigation work began within a couple of days. Justin managed and documented the mitigation progress. We'd just bought our first home, and the first rain after closing the paint on our wall started to bulge out, a harsh welcome to homeownership. These guys are amazing! They are very professional, very courteous and very through. We had a water pipe burst in the upstairs bathroom that rained down through the walls and saturated everything. We called them at 2am and they were there in less than half and hour and by the end of the next day the place was dried out and smelled great.
