In 2014 I called these folks to clean the carpet in my last apartment. I especially liked the fact that they didn't come with long hoses that would have to be hooked up outside and run though the hallway into my apartment. My carpet was... let's say, FILTHY! My expectations were few. When they left, the carpets were spotless. In July of 2020 I had them come again. I was extremely pleased with the results of the carpet cleaning. The rug was heavily soiled with dog accidents as well as soiled threshold area. The rug looks new. The technician arrived on time, was friendly and very efficient. He also cleaned an area rug, hauled it out to the patio. He moved furniture back into place. I have had Salam with Chem-Dry clean my carpets several times. They have always been professional and punctual. This week he was delayed but called me well before my appointment to update me and ask me if I wanted to re-schedule if the new time was inconvenient. I really appreciated the communication and understanding of my time. In a world of 4 hour service windows and sup-par customer service I appreciated the professionalism of this gesture. The best carpet cleaning experience and highest quality customer service ever! Salam was so incredibly helpful, knowledgable and a true joy to work with. He helped us find a carpet pad after we realized that ours was ruined even though that is not his service at all! He was excellent at communicating and even held onto our huge area rug for almost a month while we decided where to purchase a carpet pad! We ended up ordering our carpet pad through him (once again NOT HIS JOB) at a fraction of the price of other competitors. So I've been using Chem-Dry for over 8 years. The owner is such a good guy. Not only are his services absolutely stellar if you need a thorough cleaning on your home carpets and rugs, but this business ALSO gives back to their community. I am shocked by these reviews 1 star reviews - they have to be bogus. Seems fishy because this business is far from questionable. I can only assume the reviewers are the questionable ones - esp given they each have like 1-2 poorly written reviews. I actually ran across them as I was sending a link to this yelp page to a friend in order to refer them. I just had to stand up for my man Salam. In fact, he stands out to me as one of the coolest and kindest people that I do business with on a regular business in the Bay Area. For starters: they always show up on time to pick up rugs. A portion of my work is in Real Estate, so when I need a home to look perfect (including my own) there is no question that I'll be calling these guys. Sometimes I hire them on behalf of my clients. My clients always have a positive experience, which reflects back on me. None of my clients have never had a single complaint in all the years I've been referring him. Bonus points: the owner is a standup local citizen. When Marin County had terrible flooding back in '06, Salam came to the rescue of many local flood victims who couldn't afford to revive and clean up their damaged rugs and carpets. He cleaned them for free! I know he continues to do pro bono work to this effect. So not only does Living Clean have a solid spot in my Rolodex for their exceptional and professional service, but they also have a spot in my heart for their generous demeanor toward their community members in need. read more

ChemDry came out a couple of months ago, and I already need to have my carpets re-cleaned. Like these other reviewers, I had a Groupon for the services. To my dismay, not only was the job sub-par, but the guy who cleaned my carpets was rude. When he got here, he commented that my carpets were "really bad" (I wouldn't have had him out if they were already clean). He proceeded to do the job, but didn't clean under any of the furniture, and left spots on all of the carpets. His machine left the hall floors soaking wet, and then before he left, he insisted on charging me an extra $20 (would have been nice to know that it was going to cost more before he started). We have been a shoe-free house since, but I need to have the carpets cleaned again... Not because of new dirt, but to get rid of the stains he didn't clean to begin with. read more

I had a groupon for 145.00 worth of carpet cleaning. 450 square feet. A GROUPON that I bought online! When the owner got to my house he started measuring my 3 rooms and my hallway (this was also stated in the groupon) and told me that my square footage was 100 square feet over. So I said fine we'll just skip that room. After that he started to punch numbers in his calculator and told me my total was 145.00. I said I don't understand, I have a groupon. The OWNER said back to be that since my carpets were "extra dirty" that this was going to be what I owe. The same amount as the Groupon?! I felt totally played, he made me feel bad about the state of my carpets, asked if he could pour the dirty carpet water in my tub, raised his voice, and told me he would never make any money if he didn't still charge on top of a groupon, (which was not in the fine print on the groupon) The whole thing was BS. No one is forcing this guy to work with groupon! I will never stray away from Northbay Carpet cleaners again! read more

We needed to have an off white Sunbrella sofa cleaned and asked for advice at Sunrise Home, where we had bought the sofa. They recommended ChemDry. We also had two area rugs and a high traffic office (from our dog:) cleaned.
