Found this company on the Marin County site that lists Diamond Certified companies. Andy Gatley seems to be the owner, he's the guy that came over and did the chimney work. I think he serves all of Marin, Sonoma and probably Napa. Really good. Great phone calls, follow ups/confirmations, etc. On-time, had all the tools, etc. Zero complaints and would recommend him to anyone. Oh, one side note. The work to clean out the chimney cost $179. You know... that is really cheap. These damn things light on fire, cause serious damage or burn down homes all the time. $179 every couple of years should be a no-brainer for you if you own a home. read more

We hired Best to come out to clean and do an assessment of our chimney. They gave me the best price compared to any of the other chimney services ($185) but also were able to come out in the quickest time frame. Andy the owner was early!!!! And so professional and very sweet to my kids. He finished when he said he was going to. Then quoted me for a new damper. After shopping around further, I found his quote to be the best anywhere, even our contractor couldn't beat the price. So again, they came out, were on time, and their quote was cheaper than they said. He finished in less than time than he anticipated. He over delivered on every promise. We would hire them again. Plus his customer service guy, Tom, who mans the phone is fantastic. Even when you get the answering service, he calls back usually within the hour. Excellent! read more

He took the time to take some pictures from the roof and explained what were going on up there and how it will affect our house/chimneys. He went over the condition of our fireplaces and gave me few suggestions on how to fix/beautify them :) He made sure to cover the working areas and gave me an honest opinion on the condition of the fireplaces. I thought the chimneys would need to be cleaned but after he was done checking, he told me that it was unnecessary and everything was in good shape. I made an appointment to have two chimneys cleaned. Andy looked at one and said it was very clean...didn't need a cleaning. He could have easily gone thru the motions and charged me. Andy gave a few recommendations about the chimney cap and a damper I am having trouble with. He was efficient, clean and a nice guy too. On May 21st Tom checked with his brother Andy Gatley and confirmed an appointment for May 23rd between 10-10:30am. I was very pleased with Tom's friendly and effective communication and Andy's ability to fit my property into his busy schedule. At 9:14am on the 23rd I received a call from Tom informing me that the other two appointments Andy had in Southern Marin got cancelled and that it was not worthwhile for him to drive from Santa Rosa to Tiburon to service my chimney alone. I appreciated Tom's honesty, but cancelling less than an hour before the scheduled start time is rather unprofessional. The other reviews are very good for Best Chimney Sweep and I do not doubt the work performed is of a high caliber. It was unfortunate they chose to handle the situation they way they did. I breifly considered rescheduling an appointment with Andy for May 31st but decided against it because there was no assurance the same thing would not happen again. read more
