This is a very cool family owned meat store and butcher that offers locally raised beef. We came here to pick up some freshly ground prime beef. In addition to all the beef cuts, they also offer Utah County Pork and beef tallow, not to mention beef jerky, and a specialty offering many local products, like sauces, soaps, beer bread mixes, breads, and pasta, etc. The employees were super welcoming and friendly. The only thing better than the quality of the meat is the quality of the staff. I'm pretty particular about what meat I will eat. It has to come from happy animals, no feedlot deaths on my watch. I spend my summers hiking around Dry Lakes Road and get to enjoy watching my future dinners happily grooming the grasses of the area. It started with the New York State, got it home barbecued it went to eat it. It was tough and the texture of the steak and the meat was unlike any New York steak I've ever eaten it was tough. It had no flavor. I called and brought it to their attention and they refunded the money on those two steaks which was very good. Then we come to the T-bones. I paid $50 for two T-bone steaks this time I fried them in a stainless chef pan season them appropriately went to eat them and even the filet section of the T-bone was tough. I don't know what's going on with them if they're selling sick meat from sick cows or old cows or something I don't know but I'm not going back. read more

They're a local family owned shop, WHOS GOT THE BEEF. They're so educated when it comes to cuts, how to prepare, what to pair it with, I just can't rant and rave about these people enough ! And to be real honest, I almost didn't want to post this review just cause I'm stingy and want it all to myself but they seriously deserve more than a round of applause for their craft. Theyre genuinely great people , who raise and butcher great beef. Prices ? Worth it. Whatever they mark it, pay it , you will NEVER be disappointed. And they also will do awesome deals around the holidays so keep an eye out on their Facebook, and if you don't have social media they'll send you emails as well to keep you updated. ALSO! I am writing this review, not about their meat shop but for their food trailer parked in the lot next door during the weekend. If I was rating the shop itself, it would still get 5 stars but lets dive into the reason you are really here. Steak! If you go back on my reviews, you'll see that steak is always near and dear to my heart. At many restaurants my wife will branch off and try different seafood but I am always true to meat and potatoes. So when I heard Dry Lakes was serving a Tomahawk Steak from their food trailer for Father's Day, I had to try it. Now they didn't try to hide the fact it was going to cost $$$$. I knew I was looking at a $60 piece of meat and by the time we sat down at the near by picnic tables, my American Express Card had taken a $227 hit for three. So was it worth it? Let's cut to the chase. The steak, was excellent. It was cooked to perfection and packaged to eat there or to go, with Caesar Salad, mashed potatoes and bread. I live almost an hour away so taking it to go was never the plan. It was a typical windy Southern Utah day so the real challenge was to keep everything from flying away. Now here is the rub. The steak itself, may very well crack into my top 5. My #1 is still Vic & Anthony's in Las Vegas but being my first Tomahawk, I found the cut delicious. The side dishes were good but there was something about spending more than $200 on a meal and eating it in a parking lot which caused a disconnect. Street tacos, some hamburgers or other traditional food truck cuisine, the ambiance (or lack there or) would have gone unnoticed. But for that kind of money, I guess I needed a table cloth and utensils that would not blow off the table. Now don't get me wrong, it isn't the fault of Dry Lakes. I knew what I was getting into when I got there. Just accept the fact, if you aren't taking it home, you're going to be eating a very expensive steak under hot dog conditions. I just found it to be an unexpected bummer. I'll be at Vic & Anthony's at the end of the month. I'll drop another several hundred dollars on that meal without blinking (Okay, I'll blink and probably cry a bit thanks to FJB's inflation but....). Will it be a better meal? Yep. Would I spend another $200+ on three Tomahawks from Dry Lakes? Probably not. Would I go into their store and buy three to cook at home? In a heartbeat. They are getting 5 stars because the meat, and the overall meal deserves 5 stars. It just may have been a better idea to take it to go and maybe throw it in the microwave for 60 seconds to bring it back to serving temp. For me, eating a $70 meal with a plastic fork caused a major disconnect. But that steak! read more

WOW! This little shop delivers in a HUGE way. First of all, it is absolutely adorable inside with so many offerings. The crew that works there is top notch. They were incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and so friendly. We enjoyed every second there. We bought some great looking steaks, ground meat and bacon. The minute we got back to St. George, we fried up the bacon and it was A-Mazing (should have bought two packs). I can't recommend this place enough. It's so hard to find ethically raised, delicious "local" meat with exceptional customer service to boot. The last time I was there the woman helping me seemed annoyed and didn't seem like she wanted to be there. She seemed annoyed by questions, just kind of threw off the normally welcoming atmosphere. I have not liked hamburger for at least the last 10 years. It doesn't matter where I bought it, then I tried Dry Lakes Ground Beef. It is the BEST by far of any that I've ever eaten- and I'm 71 years old. It is the ONLY ground beef that I will buy now. And my family loves it too. My son was visiting last week, and we BBQ'd hamburgers. He couldn't quit complimenting me on the delicious hamburger I made for him. I love that you are so Patriotic.
