I started out coming here a couple times a year for special occasions and such, but found that I really enjoy a professional blowout and having my hair look nice for several days afterward, so I joined their Barfly membership. You get one appointment a month for $10 less than the regular price, and get a discount on additional blowouts too and a few other perks. (There is also a Double Barfly which gives you two $10 discounted blowouts per month). I think I have had a different stylist each time I have been here, but they are all good. They ask questions about what you are wanting and you can select from a menu of styles. Free drinks and movies to watch also. Most of the time my hair looks good for nearly a week afterwards so it's been worth while. Easy to make appointments online (they have an app too, which I haven't tried yet, but intend to). You do have to provide a credit card for the cancelation policy but that is fair. read more

Unfortunately I had a really bad experience there. Before my appointment they told me it would take 45 minutes to an hour tops. Instead it ended up taking over an hour and 30 minutes and I was almost late to my photo shoot. The hairdresser put so much product in my hair it didn't hold more than 2 hours! It looked awful. The blowout itself was terrible and she kept trying to fix it with a curling iron. I spent a ton of money and wasted my time when I could have made my hair look much better myself. I had to wash my hair after 2 hours and redo it myself for another event I had that night. Thankfully I got my money refunded, but I would still never go back. Suggestion of maybe putting a pillow behind the back to help? My appointment was delayed 25 minutes so sent me out of there WAY later than usual. I felt the stylist was detailed And did great but I really didn't like my braid. The products used are amazing! They smell great and the brush is fantastic! Had a pretty terrible experience. No one read my reservation details (what I'd booked, enhancements, that it was my first time). In fact I was mostly ignored and given no info. I repeatedly said "no curls" in those exact words and had my stylist keep pushing and pushing to curl my hair. I expressed my main reason for coming (photos, but also to tame flyaways I'm not great at myself) and I left wanting to wash my hair again and do it myself. She tried to brush out the curls she'd put in my hair, but it mostly looked like something I'd done myself at home. I walked out the door feeling pretty Leave It to Beaver instead of hot mom. Adding a star for a great head massage, though. (It did seem like others were having better experiences, but then maybe they'd known to ask for mimosas?) This was the worst Drybar experience I've ever had. I've been to the Plano location countless times and never had an issue. Since moving, the Grapevine location is now closer to me so I decided to give it a try. I don't think I've ever paid to have my hair washed and left with a dirty scalp until this visit -- I didn't notice until I got in my car and got a closer look. I was literally dusting flakes off my scalp. The reason for the two stars is because the stylist was sweet and the actual styling of my hair wasn't bad. But when I pay for a wash service, I expect a clean head. I do not recommend this location. read more

Have you priced wedding hair? I have and the most absurd quote I received was more than $500 for hair, makeup and dupatta (Indian veil) setting for just me. Forget that, I can do my own makeup, and for $40 bucks, Drybar can do my hair. I set my appointment for my sister and me for 8:45 AM on 9/17/16. The place was poppin'. We were offered mimosas, champagne, coffee or tea. I'm not a drinker so I opted for tea. I also grabbed multiple biscotti thins at the front desk because I hadn't eaten and didn't have time to eat before my wedding. Because I have lots of thin hair, and my hair was washed the night before, my stylist opted not to wash my hair before styling. I didn't care because I was pressed for time and trusted the stylist. I opted for a side-swept cosmo. My stylist had to ask her management if she should charge me for an updo, based on the number of bobby pins she would use (8) - I would have flipped out because an updo is $80 and I have a barfly membership ($75/ month for 2 blowouts + free birthday blowout.) I was not about to pay an additional $80 so luckily this counted as a regular blowout. My sister got the southern comfort and hated it. She thought her stylist kind of gave up, but I thought her hair looked nice, but much different compared to how she usually wears it, so I'm not holding it against D.B. I made sure to tell the stylist to shellac my hair down. Unfortunately lots of the curl fell out that day, but the teasing lasted until 9/19 - 2.5 days later! Easy to schedule, consistency between locations and awesome service--I absolutely love DryBar no matter which location I go to! I stopped by for a blow out and it started a little late which made me run a little later than planned. But Helen was awesome, we had a short consult, she asked about my hair and what I was looking for and we were on our way. No scissors and no coloring here, just a gentle wash and then blow out with your choice of seven styles. It's $45 for any of their classic styles and a little extra for updos, brads, etc. Added bonus, they have drinks (mimosas, wine, coffee, tea) and little cookies while you wait plus fun rom com movies playing while you get your blow out. Was just the most un-DryBar experience I have ever had. Stylist was late and appointment took forever -- didn't even have her curl my hair because she took literally the entire hour and a half drying my hair. Clearly the stylist was inexperienced because she kept dripping wet hair in my face. I'm a regular at another location and a full wash/dry/style takes about 40-45 minutes at other locations. Realizing now that not all DryBars are the same so I canceled my membership. On top of that, this salon had cobwebs and dust growing in the shampoo room. Just seemed kinda unkept. If you have the option, go to a different location for sure! DryBar is so great - Northpark Mall or the Oak Lawn location are great! This one, not so much on brand. read more

My only complaint is I have asked for the Southern Comfort style with several of the stylists and leave with FLAT hair. Southern Comfort means BIG hair, lots of volume. I visit this location a few times every month. I typically leave very happy with my style. I've learned not all stylists are equal though so if you find someone you like, request them for next time. I also only get dry styles because my hair is fine but thick and it takes forever to dry. When I've gotten it washed then styled in the past they have to spend so much time drying that it doesn't get fully dry so my style doesn't last long. When I get dry styles though, the result lasts for days. My daughter also comes with me at times (age 10) and has a very tender head. I have to tell the stylist this otherwise their norm seems to be to be overly rough with her. I myself have even had a stylist or two at times who are rough. Overall though love this place, you just have to make it work for you. read more

Drybar is a really cool concept for people like me, I am not a girly girl at all and I am terrible at doing my own hair. When you walk in, you are greeted by a team of super cool ladies and you are immediately offered a drink: Wine, mimosas and champagne are available. The place is bright and happy, everything is shiny and clean. I was taken to get my hair washed with product that smells so good that you are going to want to eat it. Katie was my stylist, she showed me a "look book" and I picked my favorite style. If you have something different in mind, they will make it happen for you. Katie was really nice and explained everything she was doing, I left the place feeling classy AF! LOL :) The Blowouts that include shampoo are $45. WOW WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I thought for sure I was on a what would you do episode. After being a faithful regular customer I'm done after my experience today. I expect DryBar to employ qualified stylist. After having my hair washed with hot water, poked in the eye with the round brush several times, the hairdryer crashing down on me constantly, supplies falling on the floor I had to get up and end the torture. After 30 mins of attempting to round brush my hair was sleek straight. Stylist had no idea how to round brush dry. Not her fault she is clearly not qualified for the role DryBar gave her and it placed me in a very uncomfortable position having to be the one to tell her. I'm now stuck with my hair not dbecause there's nobody else available. I'm told customer service will contact with me within 72 hours.... nice. I sent 2 emails to customer service and a call...going on over 24hrs I'll let you know if I ever hear back from a live person. Updated to say I never received a response from customer service to my many emails and calls. As someone who normally towel dries their hair, I had been intrigued by blow out salons for years. These salons are unique in that they offer no other services except for a shampoo and blow dry style of your choice. The standard price is $40 before tip. They have a few add on services for additional fees too such as a longer scalp massage, hair masks, or even braids. I work from home and rarely make public appearances that require a professional style, but for those who would benefit from this often then their membership is worth looking into. For $75/month you get two blowouts per month, plus a free one on your birthday and 10% off in store hair products. If you need additional appointments that month, you would then get $5 off each blowout once the original two had been used. Another cool thing is that for $75 (tip included) you can skip their store and have them travel to you! I wish I had known about that years ago when I paid twice as much on my wedding day to have someone come to my hotel and do my hair. You can book parties at their locations as well. I had a girls night planned to see Beyoncé in concert, and jumped at having a reason to finally make an appointment (no walks in here). I did so via their app which could not have been easier. Once I arrived they had sweet snacks laid out at the reception area and brought me a glass of complimentary champagne. Each chair has a purse hook and even an iPhone charging outlet. Shampoo is first and then you pick which style you want from their menu. I chose the Cosmo Tai which is a mix between the Cosmopolitan (lots of curls) and the Mai Tai (relaxed beachy waves). The end result was gorgeous and she made sure to put lots of hair spray in along with other wonderfully scented products, so my hair would stay fab all night. Did I mention they also have chick flicks playing while you get your hair done? When I went it was the Notebook followed by Blue Crush. Come on now, I love guilty pleasure movies but the Notebook?! I kept having to look away during the sad moments as to not burst out in an ugly cry in front of strangers. The concept is awesome, but let's stick to happy feel good stuff shall we? This location is also perfect being so close to the airport. Next time I go out of town, I am stopping by here first to ensure lovely hair for the first few days of the trip. I booked my appointment around 3am for an 8am time slot. You can't do this with a typical stylist in a salon. And this is why I love the concept and convenience of Drybar. I came here because there were no available appointment times that met my needs at the Plano location where I usually go. My appointment began right on time. The stylist greeted me, had me leave my handbag at the seat and whisked me back for my shampoo. She did not ask me if the water temperature was okay. This really irks me as it happens constantly at the Plano location too. Anything on your head/scalp can quickly be uncomfortable if it's too hot or too cold. They tend to have the water NOT warm enough at both Drybar locations I've visited. I guess I need to just start speaking up, but I'm accustomed to stylists asking the client. I chose the style: The Straight Up. Contrary to the name, it's not just bone straight. It has more bounce and very loose, larger curls at the ends only. My stylist was really nice. I liked that she kept the conversation to a minimum. I watched some cute little movie on the large TV in the mirror in front of me and drank my complimentary mimosa. The stylist told me that she did my curls a tad bit tighter since it was raining lightly outside. When I looked in the mirror, I wasn't super pleased at all. My hair had an almost frizzy/undone look along the edges and ends. Definitely didn't look like a fresh, $40 blowout. I still tipped her (over the typical $10) because she was nice and finished in one hour. When I got home, I never laid down on my hair or anything. By the time I got dressed to go out that evening, I had to flat iron my hair all over. That was unacceptable. The loose curls were nonexistent and I felt like I wasted my money and the time driving all the way to the salon. By the next day, it was worse. I had no idea what a drybar was a couple of days ago. So glad I found out! (In case you don't know, it's a salon that will wash and style your hair for you - no cuts.) So swanky, so thoughtful, so comfortable. There are little treats at the front counter. The hair wash felt and smelled amazing. I can't drink, so I got a water - and it was flavored with citrus. My stylist was friendly, but not too talkative. She wasn't in a hurry, but she wasn't slow either. There was a chick flick on, but I forget what it was. I am absolutely in love with this place. I visited today for the Pretty Little Liars Blow Out promotion and was super pleased with my visit. This Dry Bar location opened two months ago, according to the stylist who pampered me today, and it is gorgeous. White and yellow brightens up the ambience, and it feels like a boutique salon with its retro - modern fixtures and decor. You are greeted as soon as you walk in and can make yourself comfortable in the cozy sitting area until your stylist is ready. My stylist introduced herself to me with a warm smile and was the sweetest! She was a great conversationalist and we talked about lots of different things which I really enjoyed. Being that the promotion was going on,we had even more to talk about--Pretty Little Liars!!!!!!! A blowout includes a shampoo and conditioner. Let me tell you, these stylists know what they are doing. They work it! I saw quite a few ladies leave the salon and they looked fabulous! Dry Bar executed the PLL promotion really well too. Not only was there a PLL insert (with the characters each displaying a blowout you could choose from) in the dry bar menu, and Pretty Little Liars playing on the flat screens,but they also had no problems honoring the promotion. Have you ever been to a place where they act funny about discounts or coupons? Not Dry Bar. You're treated just the same. The menu is just right, offering five different kinds of blowouts, add-ons(such as braids or hair masks), a couple of options for the teens and tweens, and so on. I love that the names of the services coordinate with the bar theme. I tried the straight up today which is straight with a little bit of body and volume. I have natural hair and it wasn't a problem for my stylist. She did a fantastic job and also made me feel great which I appreciated. You can book appointments online and you are sent an email so that you can confirm prior to the appointment. Checking out was quick and easy and although tip and tax were included with the PLL promotion, I loved my hair so much that I left an extra tip for my stylist. Came here for the Yelp event. Thank you Yelp! I love this place! Love the decor and love the staff! Everybody was very attentive and friendly. You walk in and is greeted right away. Once checked in, you'll be offered an array of beverages. There's even light snacks for you to snack on while you wait. Donna was my stylist and she was awesome! We went to her chair where I set down my tea and belongings and we went to the back to wash my hair. I went for the CosmoTai and I loved how it turned out! Donna was super kind and could carry on a conversation. I had to warn her about my hair because it's super thick and long and she managed to work her magic with it! Even though I was the last one out (my hair is crazy long lol) she was a troopers.
