My daughter & I did a random let's check it out type of day here. Made reservations online, requires a credit card to hold. Parking is junk. The stalls for this place were filled, Salt at Kaka'ako is a bit of a hike (who wants to go Hiking after getting your hair glammed up?). We went around the block twice & luckily found street parking. $2.25 for 1.5 hours. We arrived about 30 mins early, there were 3 other customers already being tended to. As soon as a stylist became available (Jazlyn) she warmly greeted us & started my daughter's experience. I could overhear the casual conversation, friendly & kind. My gal got with me shortly thereafter (Kordel), got me situated, talked about styles, etc. Having my hair washed by others is always something I've enjoyed. This didn't disappoint & wasn't rushed! The styling was fast (IMO considering my hair is pretty thick) & conversation flowed. Both gals were friendly but not over talkative. It was a relaxing experience! Will we be back? Absolutely. I had a great time, came with friends and it was storming outside and I walked out about 2 hrs later with my hair in pins. I got a full blow out and the Old Fashion hairstyle. They tried there best for my having a lot of hair and the pouring rain outside. They explained what I needed to do when I got home to make my hair the way I wanted but I sadly couldn't figure it out and my hair just looked flat and crinkled. I don't blame them. The only part I did not love was that I constantly felt rushed because of the timing of the whole thing. They were so kind and I would come again to have a better experience. On January 23, 2026, made an appointment for dry styling for Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 3:30pm. On my way to my appointment, I was 15 minutes away and I get a call saying that they had to cancel my appointment because when I made my appointment online it was mistakenly double booked. They gave no option that I could be seen at a little later but just, "sorry, we cannot see you today." I asked if they could check the other locations they said there was no availability. The lady that called mentioned that they would comp me my next visit, but sorry, customer service here is not up to par and won't be returning to ANY Dry Bar locations. Very unprofessional, could've called me earlier and not wait 15 minutes prior to my appointment. I did a blow out (Mai Tai) by Tiyana. My hair is long and always had hard time styling. She asked me couple questions before head and did shampoo, massage and blowout. Shop location was great and inside of the drybar is super cute! Other stylists were welcoming and nice too! I did the blowout couple days ago but my hair is still smooth and no frizz. I decided to become a monthly member at Drybar Kaka'ako after winning my pageant title, knowing I'd have a lot of events to attend this year. While I'm confident in doing my own makeup, hair has never been my forte, so I gave Drybar Kaka'ako a try--and I'm so glad I did! I've been twice now for two big events, and both experiences were amazing. My first visit was for a blowout with curls, and I had the pleasure of meeting Miles. He worked his magic, and my curls were absolutely perfect--they stayed in place all night! A week later, I went back for an up-do/up-tini (my first since prom in high school, lol). I requested Miles again because of the incredible scalp massage and gorgeous style he gave me during my first visit. I was a bit nervous about the up-do/up-tini since I rarely wear my hair up, but Miles exceeded my expectations. He's truly the BEST! I loved my hair, and I received so many compliments. Now, I'm officially hooked. I'll be seeing Miles twice this week for more blowouts! If you're not a member yet, I highly recommend signing up--you won't regret it. My first experience here was wonderful and that was the reason I came back. My second time here I had a stylist who would not stop talking, to the point I couldn't get a word in and wanted to breakdown and CRY! I wanted to leave so badly and just wanted it over and done with but it dragged on forever! I also was not impressed by the wash or styling. Her nails were also so long that it felt unsanitary. Especially when I thought about her scrubbing everyone's hair like that, Gave me the ick. But the main reason for this review was the excessive talking. I would try get a few words in and I was ignored. I should have told a manger but honestly I was worried it was her. I hope the manager sees this because it was a huge problem. Curl today...gone tomorrow! That's the life of my forever straight hair...I stand corrected by John H K how we all have various types of hair though I absolutely embrace mine! With work my hair has to be all tied up and tucked in by the end of the day it's just a hot mess. I was confused of what Drybar concept was at first...dry styling!?! As I do love going and experiencing bougie things I've never really done so myself and here with a quick appointment online you're able so select your location, date, time and type of service so easily I do love their services because I'm usually able to time it to whatever event I have pretty easily. This was my first time to this location and chose it because I did have an event just a few block down and the first hour of parking at SALT is free without any validation. As this isn't my first time having my hair styled at Drybar I'm familiar with what I wanted though being at this location for the first time I was surprised I wasn't given the style book only was asked what I wanted. I pretty much wanted a tight curly hair as my straight has zero volume my stylist went straight to work. He curled and kept it tight by using clips which was different so I was excited especially once he undid it all at it was tightly curled woohoo!! He then brushed it all out and added the load of product...sprayed...sprayed and SPRAYED OMG! by the middle of the night all that product weighed my hair down and it was all gone *sob*! I've had my hair done countless times and it held for days so I know it's possible but this guy just seemed so unsure from the start and not very sociable as when I was done there was barely a thank you and moved on to the next client, staff here is friendly but not very interactive so robotic. I am very disappointed with my experience at Dry Bar in Kakaako. I had read some bad reviews but still wanted to give it a chance. I made an appointment over the phone. I did not get the girl's name who took down my appointment but she took down my credit card to secure my appointment. I typically don't just do blowouts but I wanted it for a special occasion. When I get there to check in, the front desk girl looked confused as she try to search for my appointment. I tell her that I made it over the phone and the girl took down my credit card. The front desk girl then sees my name on file and my card but that there is no appointment made. That makes no sense to me that they would have my info but no appointment reserved. Then she tells me that they unfortunately have no openings at this time but that I can come at 11am (my appointment was at 10am which was already cutting it close). I was surprised to see that I only saw 1 stylist there. At this point this I am pretty upset because I had driven all the way down here. This was a mistake on their part and the girl seemed to be very nonchalant about it. She did say that she would have the manager call me since she wasn't there at the time. After FINALLY making an appointment last year for a blow out and getting my hair did, I wondered to myself, why in the world did I not come here sooner?! I for one have temperamental hair in which if I curl them myself, they go back to straight in less than two (2) hours. Whatever they do at the salon and here is pure magic because the curls stay for a few days, not hours...daysssss. During my last visit, the staff were very friendly. IF YOU DONT KNOW NOW WE ALL KNOW! They have 5 parking stalls provided for customers in a drive way which looks to go to the apartments next door. Unfortunately I never asked prior until I heard a customer ask. I paid for meter parking (0.25 for 10 minutes= $1.50) or have parked in salt parking lot (with validation=$1.00 depending how long you stay). This location is by far my favorite I have come twice in less than a month and I'm eager for more days. At first I wanted a specific person Kristi and was hoping to have her again this time around but she wasn't working. I must say all the employees here do great work. The most important thing for me is that they listen to your hair concerns and they ensure you the best style. My curls stay and I have the perfect amount of volume (I have really oily and heavy hair). Self care is key to my self confidence and walking out after my appointment gave me extra sparkle of confidence (on top of what I already had lol!) Auli'i was absolutely perfect from how much we talked to the details of how I like to style my hair. I came in 10 minutes early to see if I could start sooner and the receptionist happily welcomed me and sat me down ready to start my appointment. The entire salon is clean and absolutely picture worthy, they have a separate room to get your hair wash and a room to do the actual blow out. I highly recommend signing up to become a barfly because it so worth it and a perfect excuse to get yourself pampered. They do special gifts each month, this month it was a free add on so of course I did the scalp scrub. My first experience at any Drybar - it was pretty amazing! I can see why women would want to do this often. It costs a pretty penny but if I had a nice dinner or shindig to go to, I would definitely make a Drybar appointment because not only did my hair look great after, I felt pretty good too! So why four and not five stars? I came here with two friends, we had appointments for the same time (thinking that we would be able to have our hair done as a group) but I had to wait 40 minutes after our appointment time, and they split up my two friends even though they were taken at the same time (right around our appointment time)...we don't know what happened. They redeemed themselves though, they waived the fee for my add-on and massage since I had to wait so long. Luckily my hair is pretty easy to tame so my friends who were taken at our regular appointment time didn't have to wait too long for me to be done. The parking is limited, but like other Yelpers mentioned, it's super easy to park across the street and just get a validation after you're done. If you need your hair done for a special occasion or just because, go ahead and make your appointment for Drybar Kaka'ako! Just give yourself some time, in case they run late on you. ;) read more

I booked an appointment using the Drybar website which was excruciating on its own. In order to book an appointment, you need to submit a ton of information including your credit card number. On top of that, you have to go back and forth to select an appointment time if the appointment time you want is not available. You'd think they would make it more user friendly for customers. I arrived on time and marveled at the set up and decor. I was super excited. I've had blowouts before and was expecting great things because the space is so beautiful and chic. The receptionist offered a beverage and I waited until the person who would be helping me finished up her customer. The wash was fast, I've had way better shampoos from places like citizen salon when I get my hair cut. Drybar doesn't cut hair. They exist to just pamper you, so i was expecting a more lengthy shampoo experience. The rest of my appointment was ok. The person helping me asked what I wanted done and I explained that I was going to a wedding later that afternoon (12:15 appointment, 4:30pm wedding) and that my hair has trouble holding curls, so I was a little concerned. She assured me the Drybar products could handle it and that my curls would fall gracefully. I thought the chairs were a bit uncomfortable and that they're awkwardly too far from the counter, so you can't sip on your beverage because The counter is just a little too far away for it to not be awkward. The lady helping me didn't try to push products or services on me too much, but I did hear the worker next to me pushing products on another customer. I like dry bar products, and purchased some from Nordstrom, but they're expensive. The worst part was that about an hour after I left Drybar, my curls had fallen out. Like my hair was straight. I spent $57 after tax and tip for this and I had nothing to show for it...I had to scramble to do my hair before the wedding and when I called Drybar, the call center (probably on the mainland) was not very helpful. The entire experience was frustrating and disappointing.... so why would I be back? read more

I have a lot of thick naturally curly multiracial hair. When I get my hair done, I prefer blowouts to bone straight flat ironed hair. Unfortunately, not a lot of hair stylists have the knowledge to pull off a good blowout nor do they want to put in the time it requires to style my hair with a blow dryer, flat iron, and curling iron. I first experienced blow dry bars in NYC. There are dozens of blow dry bars to choose from in NYC, but since leaving the Big Apple, I've had a difficult time finding a stylist who specializes in blowouts. I jumped for joy when I saw that the first Dry Bar in Hawaii was opening up in Kaka'ako, conveniently located only minutes from my workplace. Appointments can be made over the phone, online at www.drybar.com, or in-person at the salon. I stopped by the salon the day before I wanted to come in and was able to easily set my appointment with the helpful receptionist. She assured me that the stylists at Dry Bar would know how to work with my hair. She also showed me the style book with a wide variety of choices including old fashioned waved, beach waves, tousled and textured, and sleek and smooth. The following day I came into the salon to see more of the interior before my appointment. I love the design of Dry Bar salons. The salon is so bright, cheerful, feminine, and welcoming. It feels like being enveloped in a frothy lemon cupcake interior. The receptionist offered me the choice of water, tea, wine, or champagne. I chose champagne and later tea while sitting to get my hair done. There is also free WiFi available for customers. This isn't just a hair appointment, going to Dry Bar is a pampering experience! My stylist was very friendly and she explained the hair menu and the styles to choose from. I chose to add on a scalp massage for an additional $10 and the "southern comfort" hairstyle for $45. The salon's shampoo chairs are the most comfortable I've ever sat in. There is no need to strain one's neck or bend in an awkward position while the stylist washes your hair. I will admit that I didn't feel much with the scalp massage and would have preferred a firmer massage. I'll just be sure to mention that to the stylist next time. My stylist was very patient as she worked on my hair for nearly two hours. The finishing result made me look and feel like a different person. I had a very important dinner that night and my hairdo gave me the confidence in knowing that at the very least my hair looked great. I will definitely come back to Dry Bar whenever I need to get my hair done or just when I feel like looking great. Whoop there it is. My friends have previously gone to Drybar and highly recommended it for a special occasion. For a special occasion, I gave in and was like why not? I booked online and the whole process was very simple. Parking is located in the back. Note to self: there's four free stalls. When I arrived, the front desk was friendly and introduced me to my stylist. I was offered a drink and was immediately taken to wash my hair. After I was taken to a chair where I was able to watch a movie and get a blowout. The salon is so cute! You can choose a hairstyle you want based on different types of curls, straight, updos, and more. Each of them have drink names like dirty cosmo, martini, and more. I decided to go with the dirty cosmo which is volume beach waves. My stylist explained each product and didn't try to push any products on me which I appreciate. Once she was done she showed me her finished product. I absolutely loved it! The curls were perfect! And I left super happy. So why the 2 stars? Though the curls were perfect I was so shocked that the curls completely fell after 1-2 hours. Mind you, my hair is naturally straight but it tends to hold curls very easily. When I usually curl my hair or get it done in a salon, it usually holds for 2-3 days after. Yes, even in the humid weather. So what the heck?! I was so sad and disappointed on the result. There is no reason you can't spend $49 for a blowout (wash & blowout style) there are add'l fees if you want a massage, or scalp rub, etc. Its so affordable. This is perfect for those who just want to pamper themselves, or going on a date or a night out with friends or even your bridal entourage. GUYS! You can be even more of a sweetheart and treat your girl to a blow-out! As I previously mentioned, I bought their membership of $85 which is reasonable if you feel like you'll get blowouts more than 2x. (Each blow-outs are $49+) You get 10% off their products, free blow out on your birthday month, you can cancel at anytime and best part is if you don't use them, it rolls over to the next month. No, you can't give them away, blow-outs are just for you. I already have my future blowouts scheduled lol You can download their app which is super easy to use; to schedule. You will be required to place a CC on file but they won't charge it until day of your service. Located in kakaako on the same side of HMart. They have a designated parking area for customers which is perfect because it can be a hassle trying to find street parking AND parking in the structures isn't cheap either. She understood what I meant when I wanted the ends straight but the mid sections to be pressed and wavy. I had a blowout done for my maternity photos in mid May. I loved the light and airy space but the service was a little to be desired. As others have stated in their reviews, just making an appointment is extra difficult. I attempted to make the appointment online but kept having to go back and forth in order to find an open time. Booking a simple appointment (especially when everything is a blowout!) just shouldn't be this difficult! When I first arrived, I was asked if I wanted a mimosa ... at 8 months pregnant. Maybe ask customers if they would like any beverage? It was definitely an odd start to my appointment. I made sure to tell my stylist about having beach photos done later that day so she could make sure to adapt the blowout to the humid weather conditions, such as using more hairspray. Unfortunately, my blowout didn't hold up for the whole 2 hours even before my photos. Paying that much for a blowout I would expect it to hold up for 2 hours spent in air-conditioning. When I checked online it said Sundays open at 0900 and when I arrived at the shop their sign indicated they also opened at 0900. So I waited. It's now 0920 hours and nobody is here . I've been going to Drybar for a solid year and a half now, and I love it! As a person with long and thick hair, it's hard to find an affordable hair salon. A lot of hair salons that I've been to charge for how thick/long your hair is and can cost up to $70+. I go to Drybar every month and always tip $5. As a student, this is also a convenient location since I can walk from my dorm. I've had various stylists, and none of them have done a lousy job. Some are better than others, but none are horrible. Everyone I meet is kind and accommodating. I appreciate that the stylists aren't rough when washing my hair. They always ask if something is too cold or too hot. Drybar also offers you a drink(water or alcohol) with your appointment. I have nothing negative to say about them and highly suggest everyone come here. Linda and her team were unbelievable!! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted & offered a drink (with alcohol), which I gladly replied "yes please"!! She knew I was in a time crunch and I wasn't quite sure what style I wanted. I told her I needed a professional look for my business card photo but also a party style since I was celebrating my birthday party that night. She explained everything they were going to do & to let her know what to fix if I didn't like it. At first I was nervous because I don't normally curl my hair, other than when I was a bridesmaid, so I was worried I would look like I was going to be in a wedding. But she assured me not to worry!! When she turned my chair around I didn't even recognize myself. I was just amazed that she and her team could do it all in 45min. Especially since I have thick curly hair (which I warned her about). FYI, very important to let your stylist know what type of hair you have. They were kind enough to take my business photos for me after I was done. I felt bad because it was already 7:15pm and I know they wanted to go home. But they told me to take my time, breathe and relax....since I was running around like a chicken w/o a head. My sister is in town and said why don't we treat ourselves a little and suggested dry bar she goes all the time in California. Parking was convenient for me,it was a weekend so I parked in one of the street parking spots. There is parking in the back of the building, 5 spots available. When you first walk in they greet you. The "bartenders" were really sweet and welcoming. My stylist was finishing up another client so there was a bit of a wait, no big deal they were playing one of my favorite movies and offered me a mimosa so I was set. I will start this by saying I have thick curly hair 3c-4a texture and past shoulder length when not straight but when it is straight it's past mid back which is why I have never gotten my hair done here in Hawaii. I've lived here for 6 years and I usually get it done when I visit home. That being said, I WISH THAT STYLIST WOULD BE HONEST WITH THEMSELVES AND THEIR CLIENTS. If you are uncomfortable or overwhelmed (even if it's in the middle of a style) let your client know. I would have much preferred that to what I got. I can't remember the man's name but he clearly got more than frustrated. I took my hair out and he immediately told me he WOULD NOT do the charcoal scrub because "your hair would just be a nasty matted mess" he then said he would do a different treatment and then just didn't do it. Then he "detangled" my hair DRY before my wash, which is something that is not normal for me or anyone else with curly hair. We get to the wash and he was fine it was normal, and a nice head massage. We get back to the chair and this is where it gets extra bad. I think he expected my hair to straighten easily and it didn't and he started yanking my hair a bit. He started grunting and was visibly upset and sounding like he was Olympic lifting and I started to feel bad bc I have a lot of hair. I get it I don't wanna do my hair that's why I was paying to get it done. It finally gets dried and he begins to flat iron. He clapped the flat iron like he was so angry and clipped my ear a bit I was afraid to say anything because I thought he would for sure burn me since he was so irritated. The end result absolutely terrible I will post a picture. At the end I honestly just felt like a black girl with unmanageable hair. Although my sister encouraged me to go back to a different stylist I don't think I will. Thank you for your time dry bar but I think some customer service could be worked on. read more

I'm definitely a fan of Drybar! If you have a special occasion or just feel like relaxing, this place is it! This location is close to work so it's super convenient for me. Parking is right next to Drybar, but there's only 4 stalls and nowadays they always seem to be taken. Next best option is across at SALT where the 1st hour is free. This place is strictly for just blowouts and styling. LOVE their products! It's funny because all their products have a very distinct smell so you can definitely tell when someone is using their products. When you arrive they'll offer you something to drink. Your stylist will then take you to their station where you can go through a booklet of styles. I usually get the Cosmopolitan or just ask them to do a blowout with the round brush only. For the most part all the stylists I had are very good! I try to request the stylists I like but unfortunately it seems like they all work at the Waikiki location now! Overall it's a great experience and definitely a must try at least once!!!! read more

Been to the California dry bars for event blowouts and loved it!! So glad they are in Hawaii! Kaka'ako Dry Bar is conveniently located near department stores, restaurants, and shops! They are clean, friendly staff on the floor and very professional! Enjoyed a few mimosas while preparing for my husband's military ball and it was so relaxing! Parking structure parking is pay to park, there is also street parking with parking meters around the area. There is a limited bar service compared to the other dry bar located in Waikiki where they have a full service bar. I tug at the $85 monthly membership only because I live on the west side of the island and both dry bars are on the east side of the island. Hopefully they open one on the west side! read more

I was so pleased with my first visit to dry bar! Definitely request Summer if you go. :) I booked a blow out last minute on a Saturday morning because I was not in the mood to blow dry and style my hair in the heat. I told Summer I was going to be boarding a flight for a conference in a couple of hours. The conference was going to bring the next morning and I wanted a sleek look that would last. I decided on the Manhattan and Summer did an incredible job! I have thick, long, wavy/curly hair and the final product was flawless! I am excited to have great hair for my conference and not have to worry about it when I land. Summer was kind, thorough, and made sure that I was completely satisfied with my hair. She even finished it up with a spray that would help it last and keep away the friz! Thank you for giving me a fantastic hair day without having to do all the work! I will be back. Been dying to try this place since it opened earlier this year. I saw that they had a yelp elite event in March and I wanted to attend badly, but sadly it fell on a work day. Bummers. Luckily my friend's wedding was this past Saturday, making it a good reason to use their services. I reserved an appointment online after making an free account. They also have a agreement that they will charge $20 on the card that is on file if you arrive late, don't show up, or cancel with a less than 3 hr notice. So make sure you cancel in a timely manner or arrive on time. Once you have arrived, you are greeted warmly by the receptionist and offered coffee, tea, mimosa, or champagne. I chose a cup of coffee with sugar on the side. My stylist came up to me and showed me to the chair where I got to chose the style I wanted from the lookbook which was the cosmo tai which is loose curls and beachy messy hair. First they shampoo your hair first. Then blow dry while detangling hair. Next, the styling part which was curling and making my hair waving. The entire process took an 1 hr. At the end, they reveal the finished look. I was very surprised in the mirror. I felt like a different person. They are a cashless business so I had to use my card to pay for the service. $45 plus tax for excellent service and friendly staff. Two to three hrs later, my hair did not look the same when I left Drybar. My curls fell flat and the waves were less wavy. The humidity in Hawaii truly caused this. Would I come here again? Yes, I'll like to try another look in the future. Hope they open more locations maybe in Central Oahu. read more

Self-care is one of my priorities for 2018 and Drybar is at for sure at the top of that "spoil me" list! I'd heard about the Drybar brand for so many years, but never quite understood what all the buzz was all about until I walked through their doors. They only do blowouts? What is this madness? Well, I am now a believer and Drybar is my religion. Once you check-in, your stylist takes you to a wash room to shampoo your hair. I could just stop here because I love having my hair washed, but it's called Drybar, not Wetbar. Afterwards you are taken to a blowout station where you choose your look from a menu with lots of photos. I am partial to the Maitai which is a beachy blowout. You get to enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, champagne or mimosa during your blowout and I'd recommend going for the mimosa or champagne every time. My friend came with me this lady time and hesitated to get a drink because it was only noon. I did a double take, held her hand and said: "Girlfriend, no matter what time of day it is, there's ALWAYS time for champagne!" #LifeProfit Your stylist blows out your hair and you basically turn into a supermodel, or at least your personal version of one. You can now leap tall buildings, execute any major business deal, make any man fall in love with you, and finally let go of any need you have to people please. You now know what it means to put yourself first, and this is an invaluable tool in the practice of self love. The branding and experience at Drybar is unparalleled from their adorable decor with modern touches of yellow to the blowout stations to the hair products to the scented candle you can buy if you really want to be obsessive and take home the salon's smell. Trust me, I've thought about buying that $45 candle many a time. Blowouts are $45, and memberships are $80/month which include two blowouts and a free one on your birthday. Go for it, bring a friend, and remember that this life is one where you should always feel beautiful because the way you feel about yourself is what makes you unstoppable! read more

The location is absolutely beautiful- it's bright and airy with fresh roses, chocolate, and complimentary champagne. 4/5 because of the lengthy appointment process and rather stiff chairs. But everything was terrific otherwise! My hair fell out pretty quickly but likely because I got it washed. I chose the braids- I brought in a picture for a bohemian photo shoot and it was replicated perfectly. read more
