Just a warning! They canceled everyone's memberships without notifying anyone since they raised their pricing and I had no idea that I wasn't accruing blow outs like I was for years. So, I visited today, and they proceeded to charge me when the service should've been free. Instead of making things right, and telling me they cancelled my membership in April and it's September and I've been in 5 times since then with not one person telling me I have no membership, prices went up, or I wasn't accruing blow outs, they tried to talk me into buying another membership! My kind of bar... I never quite understand what it's concept was as styling or dry styling was never quite the type of service i imagine would be not just fun but easy way to kick up your look. This Kahala Drybar is located in Kū'ono Marketplace which is a new shopping complex right across Kahala Mall and with lots of free parking it's so easy to drive up to your appointment which is so easily done online or through their app. I love their dry styling and if you need some inspiration they do have a book for you to look at and along with their products even with my hair that rarely hold curls keeps it for days and makes my life that much more prettier with ease. Other people have different hair types. My friend highly recommended Drybar, so, I tried it right before a Yelp Event in November 2022 and my hair fell flat within an hour - even though I warned the stylist that I was going to an outdoor event. I went back the next morning for a free redo on November 29, 2022, but my hair didn't hold the curls again. Linda, the Manager, reached out to me and we set up an appointment because she personally wanted to do my hair from washing to blowout. Wow! I told her that I had another Yelp Event coming up, but she wanted to see me before that day. I went for the third time to Drybar Kahala in a hopeful mood. I wanted to see what kind of magic she could perform. Gosh... Linda is so energetic and positive! I could tell that she was very experienced and competent. She explained every step - she used some products to help the roots and rest of the hair to have more volume. After she blowdried some curls in - for memory - she flat-ironed tighter curls in. Wow. Unfortunately, after our session, I went to Costco where it was windy and drizzly. There goes the hair. Haha! When I got home, it was rainy. I pin-curled my hair before I went to sleep, but when I started baking, I perspired and the hair went flat. Sigh. I used hot rollers and a lot of hairspray before I went to the Yelp Event. Incredible! I am blown away!!! Walking in the first time with my mom was a very positive experience since my mom has dementia and she doesn't like to be fussed over since she used to be a hair dresser and a salon owner. It was quite inviting and we were happily greeted. Heidi took so much love and care to my mom who was hesitant at first. I showed her a previous picture on what her hair used to look like and she did her best to replicate it that my mom was happy which made me so happy! Mem worked on my hair with such care and truly surprised me with amazing style. More than what I expected. I had both bouncy curls AND beautiful braids. Taylor took the time to cater to my mom while Mem did the finishing touches for our luncheon party for my Aunt's 90th birthday! It was totally worth it plus it didn't take long (since the guys were waiting) plus it didn't cost as much for the two of us plus they accommodated our time. Great job Team Dry Bar! My wish has come true! Thank you Drybar for coming to Kahala to satisfy every woman (and man's) coiffure needs! For the last decade of my existence, I have utilized the blowout services offered by many-a-salons for the sheer sake of convenience and keeping my sanity. I hate doing my own hair. It's wavy, unruly, frizzy when I want it smooth, flat when I want va-va-voom. Photo shoot? Baby's First bday? Party hosting? Even a work dinner had me booking an appt just so I don't have to bother with flat irons and blow dryers that may end in disaster. Problem with most salons is you have to work around the schedules of haircuts, color treatments, and other aesthetician appts because no one has ever created a business for just blowouts. Until now. Quick? Under an hour Convenient? Five minutes from my place Affordable? Yes! Most blowouts are $49 Clean, professional, and friendly? Yes, yes and YES! Hooray!!! Drybar has a few locations, but this one is in the new Kahala MKT, Mauka of Kahala Mall where the old Tony Roma's and strip malls used to be. The parking lot is huge and COVID regulations were well in place. Masks required, wait outside until your appt time, and COVID questionnaire prior to appt. Ambience is gorgeous, bright, and clean! I felt like I was in Sorrento with all the beautiful whites and yellows! Alyssa was the friendly receptionist that greeted me and offered a beverage. Manette was the stylist who offered extra services and products, and ultimately turned me from drab to fab in 60 minutes! Thank u ladies!! My Xmas photo shoot was a snap because of YOU! You can have so much fun with the styles. They even offer updos (uptinis is what they call them-- love the names!) for $99. I have to try that next time, maybe for a GNO? And if you are looking for an excuse to be pampered, Barfly memberships are $85 a month for two blowouts/month that can be rolled over with no cap. Got the blowout of my dreams today! Pic doesn't do justice, I love loooove it! So soft and bouncy with volume in the front. I had Mam (pronounced ma'am) who started with a thorough shampoo. When I tell you she did her thaaang my scalp! That good-good scrub! When drying started (Emma joined in!) they actually used the round brush section by section, instead of drying my whole head then using the hot curlers (not my preference). Stoked that I got a true blowout! they were also kind and playful toward my baby who waited patiently in his stroller for me lol Such a great experience! Seriously eyeing up that membership!!! Ever since they opened the first Drybar in Kaka'ako, I have been a huge fan! And now that they've opened a brand new location right in my 'hood of Kahala I'm even more excited! I was lucky enough to get my hair blown out on opening day and the whole experience was everything I've come to expect from the Drybar brand. This new store is located in the brand new shopping complex across from Kahala Mall, which will house a new Foodland Farms. Drybar is located right next door to the market, so you can't miss it. I walked in, was greeted by a friendly staffer who had me sanitize my hands and took my temperature. I met my amazing stylist who helped me pick out my blowout style, washed my hair and turned me into my most glamorous self in under an hour. The store itself is beautiful and decorated in Drybar's signature palette of yellow, white and gray. Like most of us, I have not been doing much personal care lately but have now reactivated my Barfly subscription (Two blowouts a month for $85) to make sure I've got some "ME" time in the calendar. Now that most Moms with school age children are doing distance learning, I think we could ALL use a mimosa & a blowout to brighten our week! No stars for Drybar kahala. I scheduled my dry styling appointment on April 28th, 2024 for an appointment on May 24th. I got a call on May 23rd confirming my appointment. On May 23rd I arrive at 6:45am for my appointment which was scheduled for 7:00am. The receptionist let me in the store and while I was waiting they had to make a call to the stylist because Chris was already 10 minutes late so I just myself just left because he wasn't answering after the manager had called him to and I couldn't wait because I had an event to go to. read more

Quick details: -located at Kuono Marketplace which is north of the H1, exit Waialae Ave. It's like 2 stores down from the Foodland there. -Easy check in at the front and everything is streamlined so well at this location -Complimentary drinks heyyy! Coffee, tea, water, champagne -Seats are large and comfy with counter space for knick knacks and even a bag hook -COVID procedures: All the stylists wear a mask the entire time. Guests wear masks unless they are drinking their complimentary drink. They keep every other seat roped off and for the wash stations there are 2 empty seats in between. They also sanitize after every guest and sanitize the bathrooms hourly. Awesome! I had booked an appointment at this new location weeks ago for my daughters and I. I called their number (yes it's an 808 number but don't call it! It's a non-US phone bank) to ask about what to expect for my daughters. I was told that they would be seated away from me and i had to get a treatment at the same time or otherwise I'd have to wait outside the store. Mind you, my girls are young. How am I going to let them go into a store with a stranger and just trust that it's fine?! I was dissuaded from going with children and I canceled my appointment *tear* Anyway! fast forward and Linda, the manager at the Kahala Drybar reached out to me and explained everything to me like a real, understanding human being. She put my mind at ease and I immediately rebooked my sesh! She did my wash and style herself and is so so good at what she does. My hair looks (and smells!) amazing and I feel like a person again, not my usual frumpy mom persona lol. I love how she explained what she was doing as she was doing it so I could try and replicate the look at home. I especially love how light and bouncy my hair is, not locked in tight with regular hairspray which some places do. This was my first blowout ever, so I really have nothing to compare it to but I can tell you the customer service I received was fantastic. Booking an appointment was a breeze with their website and I was able to get a same-day appointment. They greeted me as soon as I walked in and checking in only took a few seconds before I was seated. I've always wanted to see what a blowout was about and I enjoyed it. Linda was great. She made me feel comfortable and I really liked the work she did. While getting my blowout they had 'Can't Buy Me Love' playing so I got to watch a movie, sip on a mimosa, and get my hair done. They are enforcing social distancing. Workstations are sectioned off to create separations between customers and they sanitize between customers. I ended up buying a product, a 3 in 1 finishing spray as well. I don't typically buy expensive hair products, but it is WORTH. IT. I really like it. I went this past Friday 03/03 with my 2 girlfriends and it was my idea to go so we didn't have to do our own hair for our work gala event that evening and my stylist made me feel really low. As soon as I got in the chair I heard one of the stylists say "do you want to do her hair?" Like I wasn't even sitting there! And then my stylist whom I don't know her name, nor do I want to know her name EVER... proceeded to tell me I had "horse-like hair"....... Mind you, I have not died my hair in 10 years and I have never heard anyone say that to me before... she tells me that their shampoo and conditioner would really help my hair.. LOL LIKE I WOULD EVER SPEND MY MONEY FOR PRODUCTS THAT SHE WOULD GET COMMISSION FOR! I told the stylist I wanted the "old Hollywood look" and she said "oh-okay" like it couldn't be done.... She never once asked me my opinion or how I liked it, she turned the chair around and literally showed me my hair and I honestly was really upset. I looked like Shirley temple and I asked her to fix my bangs etc and she kept acting confused.... She could have at least told me the curls would drop or something to make me feel better. Very friend staff offered me a drink and ask what I wanted to get done. Use your phone to open QR code to look quick looks online. My favorite part is the hair wash and the hair massage you get. And she let me know each time she use the different products and she gave me a tip if I have flyaways later with the brush and put spray on top. This is a new dry bar location located in Kahala right across from Kahala mall. It is a super convenient location with plenty of parking right in front. I was sent a text message when they were ready for me. Which was about 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment. Everything is super pretty and clean. It is an open lighted space which makes you feel welcome. They have been open for about 2 weeks now. The staff are all really friendly and accommodating. I was a little early so my stylist chatted with me and brushed out my hair while I waited for my friend who told me about this place. I was offered some water and later after my shampoo a mimosa. I got a full body blow out with some curls. My stylist did a great job. She made sure my hair was perfect. She even recommended some products for me to try. I was also given some samples. This is an updated review from a previous experience. My first experience was less than desirable and I left a Yelp review about it on the kaka'ako location And was contacted promptly. They actually called me about my experience and not only asked me to be honest and open but even asked for a little education on doing textured or ethnic hair. Which was a surprise to me. They asked if I would be willing to go back and allow them to do my hair again for free (crazy right?!) I arrived at my appointment was greeted and offered a drink. Katie was my stylist she sat down with me to discuss my previous experience and asked if there was a certain process I would recommend and she was so sweet! They make great conversation washed conditioned and did my hair without a glitch was patient kind respectful they went as far as giving me a few samples and asked if I would allow the original stylist, from my previous experience, do my hair again as a way to help train (free service) I was impressed with my hair but I was far more impressed with the lengths they went to help me feel comfortable and valued not only as a customer but as a person. read more

I'm not typically a review writer...but I feel compelled. Typically, I have a great experience here, but today, I had Julia. I didn't know a blow dry could get this bad. My appointment was at 8am, and Julia finished by 8:20am--my hair was oily and flat. Though I requested a thorough shampoo, Julia barely touched my scalp, did not rinse well, and though she "shampoo'd" twice, my entire shampoo/conditioner experience was finished in 90 SECONDS. I asked for a blowout with a round brush and Julia used her FINGERS to dry my hair to 80%. This is the same thing I do at home. She used the round brush on the ends only. I wouldn't be shocked if she wasn't a licensed hairdresser. Please avoid her. Kailyn is great! I've had an excellent blow dry from her. read more

Lovely new location, every experience I have at the dry bar is amazing! I had the honor of getting my hair done by Linda, the manager. She is so lovely and a gorgeous human I felt so safe with her and she gave me an amazing head massage while washing my hair! I ordered the Mai Tai and my hair turned out stunning. I wish I could do my own hair but I'm terrible at it so I'm so happy that the drybar exists! I treated my best friend because she has never gotten her hair done! I want to start off by saying what's so terrible about me having to write this review is that I haven't even STEPPED INSIDE OF THEIR ESTABLISHMENT and just by my 30 second phone conversation, they are not worthy of your money. The front desk phone receptionist that answered WAS TERRIBLE! HAS NO CARE FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SHOULD NOT BE A PERSON MAINTAINING THE FRONT. I had called earlier during the day wanting to inquire about their services and also to possibly set up an appointment. Their phone system wasn't working (it just wasn't ringing) which is not a problem (it happens) a few hours later I receive a txt from their automatic message system asking to call back. I was very unhappy with how I was treated at this location. I had booked a blowout for an event and when I arrived was informed by I assume the manager that the hair stylist would be late or not showing up. She then offered me to wait and they could do something to dry hair as it was less money. I explained that it would not work to wait and I had booked a proper service - I had an engagement at a time after the scheduled appointment. She then suggested I go to another Drybar in town knowing that appointments are needed. She treated me like an outsider even thought perhaps I was a tourist (though no one should be treated this way). I explained I had attended this Drybar more than once as I am local but the grey haired manager did not care. I believe she could have offered to have done the treatment for me. Normally I really enjoy Drybar but this experience was horrible and not worthy of any stars. Perhaps the owner needs to discuss customer service and etiquette behaviour with the manager? read more
