Look, I love Drybar. Love getting my hair blown out. And today I did that for an awards gala. My stylist was ok except for when she burned my eyebrow with the flatiron. I was fine to forgive that but then she asked me if I wanted anti humidity spray in my hair. Of course I said yes. I'm in Austin for Pete's sake. But she did not tell me there was a charge associated with that. It was $15!!! Flipping hairspray was $15!!! I'm guessing it would have been cheaper to just buy the bottle. I didn't know there was a charge until I was paying. I went ahead and paid for it but I feel bamboozled. My coworker also said yes to a spray and wasn't charged extra. What in the actual F! How is any sort of spray worth $15?? read more

Ambiance is nice, team is nice, everything is clean. They just didnt know how to manage curls like mine. I blow dry my hair every week multiple times and it looks much better than when I was here. I am white (Italian and Irish) with dark type 3B curls all over my head that get VERY frizzy if you don't pull on the round brush tightly. They ended up using a hair straightener and curling iron to get it manageable but it was still frizzy and dry afterwards. If you have typical straight non frizzy hair naturally though this place would be solid! read more

I said I completely understand we have different hair textures but I like the volume, the big curls, and the fact that it isn't ringlets. Wow, i am super impressed with management and corporate. They truly care about their customers' experience. I received an email from corporate and a phone call from the local manager to get my feedback. I had told them that when I came, the hot water was limited. The manager explained they had a temporary issue with the HVAC which ties into the water system and they it has been fixed. I am so glad to hear that they got on it right away! This is how a business was should do business. The hair stylists were all great, and took care of my neice, my sister and myself and got us ready for a family wedding. This was such a blessing since we were coming I. From all over the country and did not want to lug hair styling tools and products through the airport. The salon is super cute, and I will be back! This was the worst blow out of my entire life. Staff is rude and the woman I was assigned to refused to shampoo and blow out my hair because it's long. She proceeded to give me a dry shampoo and curls, which I did not want. I cried the entire time the experience was so horrible. The unprofessional woman at the front did nothing to diffuse or fix the situation. I should not have been charged since I was treated so badly but I was forced to pay anyway. DO NOT go here. Awful experience. I had clip on extensions and they literally clipped some on to the top of my head, fully exposed. They have offered a refund for only extensions but after taking out the extensions, my hair did not hold the curl. I told the stylist I had very thin, fine hair so having clip in extensions is the only way of maintaining the curled look. Taking out the extensions brought my hair back to straight unfortunately. read more

Possibly the poorest ran location I have been to. The blowouts are completely inconsistent depending which stylist you get . When you provide feedback proactively- they give you attitude and pushes you for additional products so they can upsell you a $25 charge for a 2 min service . Many takes shortcuts from wash up until the styling . If your blowout only last 2 days - that's because the stylist HAS NO IDEA what they are doing . Go give some other locations a try and you'll realize that their service is not worth it . read more

This was by far the worst blowout I've ever had. They didn't even wash my hair; instead, they sprayed so much product to make it wet that it ended up looking greasy and stiff. My roots are still curly, and it was obvious the stylist didn't know how to properly smooth the hair. To make things worse, they never asked if I wanted hairspray, and my hair was left feeling crunchy and heavy. I'll have to wash it as soon as I get home. What a complete waste of time and money. When I asked for it to be redone, the only thing they offered was "dry styling," which would still leave it looking greasy and full of product. I'm definitely never coming back. read more

I was in town for a work meeting and needed to get my hair styled ahead of the meeting. I set an appointment the night before at the DryBar downtown. I was a little hesitant because I have ethnic hair and wasn't sure if they would be able to style it to my liking. My stylist was absolutely fabulous she washed my hair and styled it so beautifully, and made sure to educate me along the way. I was given compliments all day about how great my hair looked. I had the best blowout in the Downtown Austin location. I was in town for a football game and wanted a great blowout that would last. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with that amazing Texas hospitality! My stylist was Angele, she was fantastic and so professional. Management is absolutely dispicable in this location. I have been coming to Drybar for years and have never been treated so poorly. The short manager that has dark hair, tattoos, and thick glasses is very condescending and should not be talking to customers. She should be fired in my opinion for how rude she is to guests. Never come here if you are ethnic or POC, they do not listen to your requests nor do they know how to manage ethnic hair. read more

I LOVE drybar! Firstly Savannah and Hannah, the managers, run a tight ship and they put a lot of care in training their stylists. I have never had a bad experience, and I'm very confident that if I did by any small chance, that they would rectify the situation with complete diligence and compassion. There are a lot of options for blowouts in Austin but Drybar is at the top of the game. The stylists ask you a lot of questions about your hair and preferences and even have a look book for inspiration. I've overheard and been asked by stylists on most occasions if the style looks good and if there could be anything that needs fixing, etc. Their products are also very high performance. I have used many salon grade products (because I'm a product junkie) and Drybar products have taken over most of my collection. My favorite stylists downtown are: Brittnie Elayna Maz Leah Emilie I haven't seen any other girls at this location but I wouldn't hesitate to because I am surprised time and again how skilled these stylists are at smoothing and styling my very curly hair. I booked an updo for yesterday at 2 pm. I not only arrived on time, but arrived early. At about 2:15 I was informed that they were short staffed. One employee offered to curl my hair while I waited but informed me she couldn't do an updo. While I had buffer in my schedule ultimately I had an event to attend so I spoke with the person that can do the updo and she told me I could leave without being charged. You can imagine my surprise when I got a "no show" email today. I upheld my end of the commitment as a patron by arriving early. Drybar did not. There were many better ways to handle the situation: 1) call me in advance to let me know the situation, 2) apologize (all but one employee acted like I had done something wrong), etc. I've been to multiple locations in multiple cities and I've never had an issue before. read more

It helped that it was a weekday at 10:15am. We talked about what style I wanted, then I got a shampoo/blow dry and she waved her magic wand (ok, it was a curling iron) - and Bibbidi-Bobbidi-BOO! I love getting my hair washed and professionally styled and wanted to treat myself today before brunch. Went to the downtown Austin Drybar location and it was a good experience. I had an appointment at 10:30 and I maybe waited 10 minutes but I wasn't too stressed about it. The AC was broken which was definitely more painful for the stylist than me - I honestly don't know how they'll manage as the temperatures continue to increase (even today the morning started nice but quickly heated up). Everyone was very nice and helpful. I know stylists aren't miracle workers but I'm a little bummed that my hair poofed out a lot after my brunch (damn Austin/Texas humidity). I paid extra for an additional moisture treatment and the stylist said she also used a product for humidity but I'm not seeing any benefit for the $10 extra. Overall, great experience. It's definitely a pricy luxury but I don't indulge in getting my nails done so this seemed like a nice treat. I couldn't rate it 5 because I'd hope that for a location in humid Austin they'd have better humidity/frizz control products. read more
