Tsunami Salon is located at the bottom of my apartment complex close to the Whole Foods area of downtown Austin. Since it was close, I decided to give it a chance. It was the best decision I have made since I moved here. Molly Elliott is amazing!! Not only does she take the time to do your hair, she makes great suggestions, and she takes the time to get to know you. If you want a great manicure and pedicure, then Denise is your gal. She is upbeat and will make your feet and hands look great. Stephen is the owner and knows how to pick great people to work in his salon. I love this place! Great location, cool store. Ive been going there for years. Stephen does incredible color and really knows how to give a great cut with his special million dollar scissors. - I was sent to him before he opened Tsunami just because of his color talent with blonde hair. He is a master at it. - I cant tell enough people to go there. In fact Ive even had friends drive to Austin just to get Stephens special touch on "highlighting" or getting their hair done!! Now that's devotion to drive in just for your hair! Stephen really knows his stuff. - Dahn (who does hair and waxing) ain't too bad either! - In fact I would recommend Tsunami to anyone who needs a great haircut, color, nails or waxing. Stephen is the best, hands down. I've played the salon jumping game for over 10 years and finally hit the jackpot with Stephen. I gave him full control over my head of hair, only giving him a few boundaries, and let him go to town. Two hours and lots of foil pieces later, he swirled me around in my chair and my jaw dropped open. It was exactly like a TV makeover moment. I'm ready to go back and let him dream up my next look. Tstephen at Tsunami Tsalon has been tshoring my locks for 12 years -- tseriously. I don't have a tsubstantial thicket of hair, but...Oh, this "ts" stuff is too much work. So: For me, Stephen is reliable, fast, reasonable and, while no miracle worker, does what he can with the raw material my scalp provides him. I've never heard of a dissatisfied client of his and I most certainly am not one myself. Far from it. Plus he's a great guy. I even forgive him his unapologetic fondness for Natalie Merchant. Tsheryl Crow, on the other hand, is OK by me. read more

I love change and he is ready to deliver a makeover anytime, whether it's a 3 inch trim with layers or a whole new look. First, Stephen got a handle on my do-it-yourself-at-home dye job mess (I swear, I'll never do it again!) and kept my long, layered hair in shape for a while. Then when I got used to looking good, he made me look GREAT with some edgy bangs I swear took 10 years off me -- genius! Tsunami has a great, relaxed vibe with nothing but great results. Stephen is the best! I have very curly hair and he is a miracle worker when it comes to designing styles that can work in the Austin humidity!
