I have been to the store for a sugar high. Ever try a cake in a jar? Vanilla Cake Jar by Sweet Fix Bakery was on the dessert cart in the suites at the Browns game. I was so surprised that I had to try one. The jar I chose had a vanilla cake with two layers of orange icing. Opening the cute jar, the top layer of sweet icing was hard to break through to the cake. I would eliminate that layer, and go straight for the cake. The cake had an interesting texture, and the second layer of icing was good. Eating this was just enough. Novelty concept. Cake in a Jar would be good for an outdoor party, or special occasion. read more

This is a great little, local bakery right here in Cleveland Heights by the Lee Road Library. The prices are sort of high, but fair, and the staff are incredibly kind and welcoming. They answered all my annoying questions about prices and ingredients with a smile! My calorie budget wasn't high enough to get one of their carrot cake slices (which is what I truly wanted!) so I settled on a sugar cookie with purple sprinkles. It cost $2 and was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. I give their cookies a 4/5 but their cakes looked heavenly and one day, I'll have to stop back in and pick one up and update my review! read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a red velvet cake for my birthday from The Sweet Fix after reading that they have the best red velvet in Cleveland. They did not disappoint! The cake was moist, the frosting was rich and delicious, and the cake was huge for an affordable price. My boyfriend also said that the staff were some of the nicest people he'd ever met. I'm constantly searching for "the" cupcake place in the area. After trying this place out, I have to say I still haven't found it. The interior is cute but I was here for the cupcakes. I got the Key Lime cupcake for $3.00. The cake is an average vanilla cake. It wasn't topped with too much frosting. On one hand, I paid $3 for it and it's not like the cupcake is large. On the other hand the frosting is very sweet. I asked the girl if it was limey-y and she said yes. I have to disagree. I tasted a hint of lime and it was overpowered by the sugar. I would've preferred it to have a more lime taste, even be more tart considering the cake part was plain vanilla. Overall, I was disappointed. The cupcake was average at best and a bit overpriced for the size and what I got. read more

I love bakeries! I was so happy that I finally was in the neighborhood while they were open. I tried a cupcake and a cake pop. The service was amazing. I really like Eric and the Black Box Fix family. I support small businesses and minority owned businesses as often as I can. How is this place still in business? This is clearly not an establishment with trained pastry chefs, or trained culinary professionals in any sense. I ordered from door dash today, the cupcakes were priced at $4 each so I assumed they were larger. Nope--and in fact, on the smaller side. The vanilla frosting was completely disgusting and tasteless--it was like vaseline or something!! Clearly they do not use nearly enough vanilla in their frosting or their cake. Also, one of my cupcakes had valentine's day sprinkles and the other had nothing? Seemed weirdly inconsistent. The cupcakes were also extremely dry and crumbled right when you bit into them, a classic sign that they are overcooked (or left out way too long!). I also paid way too much for a breakfast sandwich that I don't think any of the staff have ever tasted themselves. The sausage was totally inedible on the edges due to overcooking and the kaiser roll was really gross and cheap. The cake pops were even worse than all these other items. They were labeled as "french vanilla" and were literally brown inside. They were disgusting, tasted like maybe caramel (which I am not a fan of, so I don't order caramel baked goods). These people need to learn how to use vanilla extract or vanilla bean!! Please! To top it off, they either ignored that I ordered a coke or were out of stock and didn't call to ask me about a replacement. I won't be returning at all--wayyy to expensive and just plain gross. read more

I just have to say that this bakery has some of the best customer service ever. It's sad to say the times were leaving in, I have low expectations from people but the person who answered the phone was just so incredibly kind and helpful from helping me order to helping me to locate the store. He never rushed me, let me take my time and was just really kind. But most importantly the cake was AMAZING! It's a true homemade cake and it really was delicious!! Omg!! I walked in there and was in HEAVEN!! The smell of fresh baked sweets was incredible! I really wanted to take a little bit of everything home. However, I controlled myself and we ended up taking a piece of the yum yum and the oreo pie. I hate to admit this but, I inhaled the yum yum. The cream cheese frosting was so good! The carrot cake was moist and full of raisins, walnuts, pineapple and some other incredibly tasty things. My husband loved the oreo pie, it was light and fluffy. Not too overly sweet. However! This was not good. Ordered 2 pieces of cheesecake and 1 chocolate cupcake. The cupcake was very dry and felt like it had seen a few days. The cheesecake was... Well it's hard to describe. It felt gritty, maybe from the massive amount of sugar in it. It was sickening sweet. I could only have a bite, and I spit that out. I gave it to one of my coworkers to try, mostly because I thought I was just being picky. My co worker had one bite and just said "that's really gross". Today was my first visit and there cupcakes are AMAZING!!!!!! I was greeted with a warm smile as soon as I walked in, this was my first visit and the lady behind the counter was nice enough to explain their array of cupcakes, pies, cookies, and other desserts....I decided to buy the Key Lime cupcake and the Red Velvet cupcake and have absolutely no complaints at all. The cupcakes were so moist and flavorful. The cupcake shop was very clean, colorful and cute....it definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. They even have booths to sit and enjoy the delicious desserts! I was filling gas in my car at the Shell Gas Station across the street when I noticed this place. I looked it up on Yelp quickly to check reviews and they were good so I decided to check it out. When I walked in I was greeted very nicely by a gentleman behind the counter (great service) and he recommended the Red Velvet cupcake. I'm pretty spoiled because I have had perfect red velvet cupcakes in my time (literally perfect) there was a good chance I would be disappointed. However, much to my surprise I was very pleasantly pleased. The cake portion of the cupcake was moist (not dry at all) and it had excellent cream cheese frosting as it should. I'm pretty sure the gentleman behind the counter knew I knew my cupcakes pretty well and he still encouraged me to try them. There is still much I would like to try here.
