I've called several times for assistance with a pick up order that was only supposed to take 5-7 business days. It has been almost 2 1/2 weeks excluding the holidays. Every time I've asked for assistance, the staff is passive aggressive, RUDE, and sounds like I'm an inconvenience for asking for help. I've called customer service and they have given me different answers than what the staff at the actual store has given me. Very poor communication skills with customers and their entire team. Located in Belmar, specifically right next to Party City with it's own parking lot. My husband and I came by here this afternoon after shopping at Nordstrom Rack. I was looking for a pair of sandals and my husband was just browsing. Whenever I come to any DSW, I always head towards the back of the store for their clearance section. Depending on the colored clearance tag, you can score an additional discount (red tags are an additional 30% off, blue tags are 40% off, and green tags are 70%. There is another colored tag but unfortunately cannot recall at the moment). As I browsed the racks, I ended up finding a pair of Calvin Klein sandals with an additional 40% off the lowest price marked and decided that I was going to buy them. My husband also ended up finding 2 pairs of Nike shoes that were red tagged. In the end, I ended up paying a little over $200 for 3 pairs of Nike Shoes (my husband wanted another pair of Nikes, but wasn't clearance tagged) and my pair of sandals. I think the price was pretty good for what we got. Be sure to sign up for their loyalty card to earn points towards a future gift certificate to spend here. Certain People Who Shall Remain Nameless once insinuated that I basically have no taste in shoes, and should spend my life shod only in Birkenstocks and Sauconys. Well, I've never ever owned a single Birk (even though I've been to my share Grateful Dead shows), and will firmly declare that although Sauconys are indeed the best running shoes I've ever worn, I would crap twice and die before ever wearing them out for a night on the town. I DO like shoes. I do. But they've gotta be cool. The best thing about DSW is their variety. I mean, if you can't find it here, you probably won't be able to find it anywhere. That said, I went there today to find a specific style of boot and came away empty handed. I mourned a little bit then, for indeed that means I probably wont find my Dream Boot anywhere. And yes, I've looked. What I DID find (on the awesome clearance rack) was a cute pair of pinup-girl-stylie wedge heels with rhinestone cherries on the toes. Did I buy them? I did not... because it's about to be winter and my broke-ass self needs boots and not open-toe wedge heels. They probably wouldn't be great in the snow, although those cherries were so hot THEY COULD PROBABLY MELT ALL THIS STUFF. Bonus points to anyone who can tell me what movie that's from. Definitely not impressed. I've been to DSW in Las Vegas, NV and the selection is decent. I can walk away with a nice pair of basketball shoes. And the employees are friendly. So I figured I could get a cheap pair. Well in here for Men's they gave dress shoes and running shoes and Skechers. Very limited basketball shoes. Employees having a conversation and don't acknowledge that your even there. Even as I looked at the clearance section and walked back and forth a few times disappointed at the selection nothing. I walked out past an employee at the cashier not even a hello. I know they mainly cater to women but should have a good selection of men's shoes and good customer service. Fantastic experience here over the weekend! Greeted THE SECOND I walked in the door. I mean, I didn't even have time to catch a whiff of what the inside of the store smelled like before being welcomed. After saying "thanks" to my greeter, I was then approached by another associate asking if they could help me find anything. Awesome! Checkout experience equally as cool. Responded to the "I can help the next shoe lover over here!" comment (note to you corporate folks who require your associates to say this - STOP IT. It's cheesy). My cashier was friendly, checked to make sure my shoe sizes match, and got me signed up for the mailing list. Customer service overload! And in a good way! read more

Of all the discount shoe stores, this one is by far the best. DSW carries so many great styles, brands, and hello...the prices are great. I have to be in a certain mood to sift through 1000 shoes to find one pair that I want, but it's fun, and it can be treated as a game..what do you win? A great pair of shoes..cheap! For example, a couple years ago I found a pair of Yves St Laurent boots, normally $800, for like $200. I didn't buy them, but that shows the caliber that can be found here. When I go to places like this, I like the serious sale racks...I love finding a pair of $150 for $45...and it can be done. Regularly. I am not a total shoe fanatic, I mean I have maybe 25 pair in my closet, 10 of which i actually really wear (mostly flip flops truth be told), but shoes are important, and here you begin to revamp a wardrobe on the cheap. They have a good selection but their prices are outrageous. Their clearance section is hit and miss. But if you are looking for something in particular then the clearance is not going to have it and you are going to have to pay full price. The little tag says Sale price is ___ which is so much cheaper then _____, but their not. I was like I can go online and save an additional 10-35% off their sale price. They also have a security guard at this place which I thought was weird for a shoe store but like I said their shoes are pretty expensive. I didn't buy anything and probably never will. SORRY DSW. This DSW's selection changes relatively often, and their clearance section is the mecca of shoe bargains. The cashiers are always friendly, and even when there's lines, during the Holiday Shopping Madness, on a Friday.... don't seem to hate their job (or you for coming into their store!) The service is fantastic, even when you try on one of those fancy new boots they have and the zipper decides it doesn't want to unzip so you have to hobble of with a 3inch heeled boot stuck on your foot and shoeless on the other to some unsuspecting salesman for him to rescue your poor lil' foot from the boot that tried to eat it :) )Yes, it was hilarious, but scary at the same time!). I LOVE the clearance section at DSW! I almost always find shoes in this section and get them from 30%-50% off. I've never really bought anything in the regular section, but the displays look very organized and easy enough to find. The staff is usually pretty nice, but they don't usually go above and beyond...like saying 'hello' or 'can I help you find anything?' There's usually no one at the counter when I go to buy my shoes, so I'll have to wait for maybe a minute before someone notices me. I hate shoe shopping, especially for myself. I have big, wide feet, and it's a pain in the butt to find something flattering in my size. I often go right to the back of the store where they have their clearance stuff. Sometimes I get lucky, and other times everything is hideous and there's a reason it's 70% off. I gave the place four stars, as there are a ton of shoes here, and they can't help it if they don't have my size or style available. I had a recent experience shopping online, and that went well. So this location is really nice and nice selection as well, just didn't like the workers. Nobody offered to help me knowing that I had my baby with me in a stroller. Instead I got stares and a male short manager following me like if i was gonna steal! I've work retail and I know how it is but could at least ask if I needed help I'm a young new mom and didn't like the service at all! Ugly stares and no help at all deserves no stars at all! I don't much about shoes, shoe prices, etc. But Shoe Warehouse has a good selection, at reasonable prices. Of course, the store is about 2/3 women's, with everything from stilletos to running shoes, but the guys selection is pretty decent too. They do have a clearance rack, although it can be a little confusing. There is a color coded sticker price, with additional discounts taken off that price according to the color of the sticker. From what I can tell, the quality is generally high. The staff is friendly, and helpful if you need it. If you go here, you will need plenty of time-the store is huge, and it takes some time to get through it all. read more

Great place for all the different types of shoes and boots a girl could want. Men's supply on the other hand is very limited. Lots of clearance stuff as well. You can even order online and then pick up in store so you don't have to deal with lines and people. This place is huge so plan on spending some time when you come here! read more

After shopping in the DWS locations here in the city, I could not find the style or size I needed. I took to the Internet and purchased my items online for a great price and free shipping. Now, I've purchased loads of Steve Madden shoes in the past so I know my size in the "loafer/slip-on style." Well, I ordered two pairs, one in brown and the other in black. Needless to say, when they arrived, they were 1/2 a size too small and I could not wear them. I was frustrated. I filled out the exchange forms after confirming with the locations here that they once again did not have what I needed. I mailed them back (free of charge, thank God) to DSW. They promised to process my refund and exchange no later than 7 to 10 business days. Well, it's been nearly 20 business days and they are now processing the new charges. Normally, this wouldn't upset me but all other payments are going through my bank account right now (utilities, cell phone, insurance, car payment, etc.). Bad timing because they can't stick to their promises as they have IN WRITING in their emails and website. With reluctance, I had to call and request refunds which they claim to have processed but they could not provide me with an email or any confirmation numbers. The operator, while nice and courteous, only told me to, "Watch my bank account for the charge and to make sure it drops off." What the Hell? DSW, I love your shoes and prices but your online experience and exchange process is a true nightmare. I guess I've learned my lesson. read more

The manager of this store (Jess) has one of the best attitudes and personalities of anyone I've experienced in retail. She really sets the tone for the other employees in the store. I'm from out of town and they took the time to look up the shoes I wanted to purchase and have them shipped right to my door so I didn't have to lug them on the plane. One of the newer cashiers didn't know how to do this through the computer so Jess patiently walk her through it. This really showed that she cares for her employees and customers.
