I was in and out quickly. My one gripe is that I had to pay for parking just to spend 15 minutes returning an item. This is not, however, Athleta's fault.

It was an incredible time finding all these adorable 4th of July merchandise. I love shopping for deals and Marshalls never fails. The only negative thing I can say about this retailer is that they have a horrible layaway policy, but it could possibly be just those particular stores I've visited with a lack of space so you can barely utilize their layaway option. Some cool facts are: Marshalls has over 1,000 American stores, including larger stores named Marshalls Mega Store, covering 42 states and Puerto Rico, and 61 stores in Canada. Marshalls first expanded into Canada in March 2011.

Every business has rules and policies to adhere to, but the way employees interact with customers to make sure they return is critical. After forgetting the receipt to make an exchange we were told the policy which we understand. We asked if we 'just made the 25 min drive for nothing' the employee bluntly just said 'yes'. I can think of dozens of work arounds and additionally 100s of things to say to a customer to ensure they make the effort to return. Rudeness is not something that you can train out of some employees- nor a habit of not smiling or trying at all to be friendly. If I were managing this store I would see quickly that there is a negative culture and the employees see the customers as a nuisance they have to deal with. They also told us we couldn't have our 2 yr old daughter go thru the little pink door as it was hot and was sticking. No 'sorry' or anything that showed they cared whatsoever- we were just in the way of them ending their shift (hardly anyone in the store at the time). There are lots of these children's stores in Denver and we will in future drive much farther if needed to avoid this location. 3 strikes and you're out as the negative attitude and culture have proven to be the norm.

But they make up for that with the best customer service by far, they easily blow the other two stores out the water. Staff seemingly like working here, everything is better organized and they actually go out of their way to be helpful. It's night and day from the other two. Prices recently changed, they used to do two colors at 75% and now it's just one. Store is bright and kept up well. I just wish they had fitting rooms and accepted credit cards but they clearly have signs saying cash only as you walk in. Do note there are no returns so inspect things carefully.
