DSW at Union Square has an excellent selection of shoes, with plenty of styles, brands, and sizes to choose from. The store is well stocked, organized, and easy to browse, making it a good spot if you know what you're looking for. However, customer service on the sales floor was basically nonexistent. The only employees I saw were at the register and a security guard at the entrance. There were no associates available on the floor to help with questions, sizing, or recommendations, which would have made the experience much better. Overall, the great inventory and variety earn this location 4 stars. It's a solid place to shop if you're comfortable helping yourself, but improved floor support would really elevate the experience. read more

I have been coming to this DSW for many years ever since I was young. This DSW has so many shoes to choose from but sadly, my size is very popular and mostly gone for shoes that I die for. Hope they carry size 7 more or restock that size! They carry many sneaker brands and styles at reduced prices. Also there's an aisle of shoes at CLEARANCE price. There's not much at clearance in my opinion but as long as there are many styles to choose from in the other aisles then it's win situation for me! Being in store on Union Sq. NYC I ordered shipping because they didn't have my snickers size in store. What came in mail was not what I ordered: wrong model, wrong size, wrong color - compete disappointment. They don't have mail return, so I had to bring it back to store, spending money and time for train from Brooklyn and back. When I asked to compensate me for trips manager just offered me Reward card with less than month expiration date. When I insisted on at least card with longer term she rudely threatened to call security to remove me from premises. She then didn't give me any card, just returned money on my credit card for the ordered shoes. Horrible customer service in a warehouse and rude people in the store. read more

A large store with vast aisles of shoes. Seasonal items like sandals were limited in sizes. Boxes of shoes below the display did not correctly correspond to the item. Aisles were wide and clean. There was a large area to try on. Overall the prices seemed a bit high. I only went there to spend my reward gift but found out that it can't be used for name brand items. Social distancing at the checkout line, masking, and hand sanitizers were in effect during my visit. Overall, I think I am better off buying online than shopping at the store. read more

Have been shopping here for years. We went on Sunday evening after having not been there in a while - something changed. The shelving was uneven and it looked...less slick somehow. Was there a flood? Did something happen? It appears they have more stock which may have been the goal but they may have sacrificed in the customer experience a little. Maybe it is temporary? read more

Today the search was on for sandals. I tried on three pairs and didn't feel comfortable in any. I found a lot of shoes very pricey. I just paid full price for two pairs of Sketchers at the Sketchers Store. DSW saves you only about $5! Big deal. The sandals I tried ran $70 a pair! Sales Associates are friendly. They try to be helpful also. There's a lot of employees. The store is very clean and well organized. I have been here to shop repeatedly. I'm not sure why I haven't got a review posted. I swear I did one. Today's experience was typical. My daughter didn't even buy anything. That's unusual. I'm sure She will want to return periodically. Today the promotion was for sandals. If you buy a pair you get a $20 Card towards your next purchase of $39.99 or more. Something to that effect. My daughter gets the rewards since she signed up years ago. She shops on line most of the time. There's more of a selection and more sizes on line. I still like the store. No luck shopping here today. If you are a shoe lover you'll love DSW. There are 3 floors of shoes on shoes on shoes! My personal favorite floor is the second floor, where the heels are! Try to go at a less busy time like early morning- the evenings are the busiest! And don't hold back when you see another person ogling that pair you know you're gonna regret not getting. Alternatively if your go-to habit is to go straight to the clearance section and go row-by-row in your size, it's on the very top floor. It's been very hit-and-miss for me to every try that, but if you're looking for inspiration and don't mind going out on a limb that's fine! The best way I like to go shoe shopping is out of necessity. Otherwise the whole store gets overwhelming and goodness me you get lost and forget who you are and what you really need in life! Pitiful service... The stock and selection were OK, or typical of other DSW locations, but the staff was rude. I was snapped at when I attempted to try on a pair of shoes in the wrong spot (I didn't know I had to try shoes on in a designated area) and the cashier had a bad attitude with every customer she helped. I'm assuming she had a rough shift or something but an employee should never treat customers that poorly! The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because everything else was good--the store was clean and well organized. In other words, you can probably get your task of purchasing shoes done here. I've come to this location quite a few times and they usually have a few cute options. I actually placed an order online and picked up this particular visit and it was ready and the time they stated, about 2 hours. I was so pleased with the shoe I ended up ordering the same one in a different colorway. The selection is also usually much better, with higher end brands to boot. I have usually found DSW to have a good selection of shoes when I have shopped there. But my reason for leaving a review today is because I called late this morning inquiring about boys snow boots. It's February and I'm looking for snow boots for my son for a trip he's taking next week. (That's a whole other story!) Anyway, I called the Livingston, NJ store to see if they had some in my son's size. It turns out that they didn't. But Jennifer Edwards was sooo nice and helpful. She spent time looking in their store. I even asked if they might have his size in another location. She looked on their system and it appeared that the store in Wayne, NJ might have a pair. She called the store and waited and waited and waited for someone to pick up and answer. They never did. So because they were short staffed at her location she came back to the line and gave me the information to try. Jen was just so kind, caring and just could not have been more helpful and patient. I really hope someone from corporate and the store manager recognizes her and the great customer service she provides. I appreciated her help! read more

Whenever I come here I get lost in the selections. Men's shoes, women's shoes, kids shoes. Sneakers, boots, sandals, belts and socks. This place has everything for everybody. I usually go straight to clearance but since they put it in the back of the store I end up stopping once it twice looking at some of the latest styles. They carry Nike, vans, Skechers, Aldo, van huesen, and so much more. If I don't have a particular style in mind when I walk in the door... Good luck getting me out of there in less than an hour. If I do have a style in mind I will probably be out of there in 59 min lol. I'm very picky when it comes to make shoe purchases because these are 6-12+ months commitments. The people who work here hate you and they're not afraid to show it! Specifically the cash register team. Oh my! They're grumpy, unkind and unprofessional. The selection has never been worse. They offer a wide variety of Fabco, Rainbow and Payless-esque shoes. A Birkenstock here and there. Crocs for $50. I remember when they had actual designer shoes at competitive prices! Order came in boxes that were both in horrible condition. There were no lids, paper and shoes were dirty. The third was in poor shape.

The store is dingy, with dirty gray carpeting. The staff are few and far between; when a customer asks where to find a brand, the staff member will wave and point in a vague direction. The purchase check out line is long. The pickup desk staff for online orders is disorganized and unskilled. They have to go looking for the orders "in the back" while people are waiting. The ordered shoes are presented in crushed boxes. For returns, the customer is advised to take a photo of the cancellation computer screen, because emailed confirmations are often "delayed." I have never had a good experience in this store nor with online DSW orders. read more

I come to this DSW location sparingly, when I am around. Today, I passed by en route back to the office to look for a pair of shoes. Typically, I wouldnt even bother writting a review for this place, but the lady who helped me was so friendly and helpful I decided to share with the world. The store is typically very crowded and hard to manuever with all the people clogging the narrow walk path, but soometimes you can find a good deal or an item that is on clearance for either 30, 40, or even 50%. Look at the color label on the sign in each aisle for the amount of savings you will recieve! Anyhow, I went to the location in Atlantic Terminal on Monday evening and saw a pair of shoes I wanted, they did not have my size, I came here today and they did. Great, and to add fuel to the fire, this location had them for 30% off. However, they did not have my size here either, but not to worry, the very helpful employee ordered them for me online and price matched the sale amount for me. I been to a few DSW stores, i like the stores in L.I. and N.J. as they have the most inventory. However Union Square had a good variety, although the store was a bit messy as it was crowded and it seems like they do not have enough staff to go around picking up and putting things back to place. This is back to school week, so my teenager daughter was looking for shoes. After trying like 10 pairs of shoes, she finally picked up a pair of sneakers in which we all agreed they were comfortable and the price was right (30%) off the retail. Now the men's section seem to be smaller, sizes were limited and i did not find any bargains. Overall, i would certainly return to this location as they seem to have variety and more designer shoes than the L.I store I frequently visit. read more

11/18/2020 - Headed back to DSW for sneakers. Wanted to give a special shout out to Reina, Ben, Zulayka and Natasha. The customer service in this store is great. The staff is accommodating, friendly and helpful. I personally don't enjoy shoe shopping (I know, I know) so for me it's a chore and I'd like it to be over sooner rather than later. I was looking for a sneaker that was cut low around my ankles and Reina directed me to the New Balance sneakers which were perfect! I wore them yesterday (added inserts for added support) and walked 6 miles! Thank you! Side note: They are also trying to do their best during COVID.
