She made suggestions as to what would be most appropriate, for his feet and conditions; not what is the most expensive shoe, she could sell. They have clothing, accessories, and other merchandise related to running and hiking. They can make inserts for your shoes, they also have them premade. There are boxes of various sized foot coverings to try shoes on with if you didn't wear socks. Never a good idea, unless you're wearing flip-flops.
