I had a wonderful experience with DT Automotive. My GV70's engine started overheating badly while I was driving home on the 405N in the middle of rush hour (of course,) and I brought it in about an hour and a half before closing. Despite the timing, they were incredibly helpful. They quickly diagnosed the issue, and David was kind, honest, and easy to work with. He gave us a very reasonable quote and didn't try to upsell or pressure us. Best of all, my car was fixed and ready to go the very next day. I am super grateful for the quick turnaround and transparency. I would highly recommend this shop if you're in the area! P.S. I never write reviews, but I have to share my experience. I fixed my car with David not even 10 minutes ago. He is a loud spoken man, but don't let that overshadow his kindness. I took my car there for an emergency repair (check engine light blinking), originally he had quoted me for a 2 hour wait just to run diagnostics on my car. In no less than 15 minutes he got my car, found the issue, and got it running again. Not only that his pricing is honest and his business upholds great values. Please take my word as this was my first time at this shop, let alone this area (I'm from San Diego attending college). I can't even review on this service of cars as I didn't even get that far. Walked in and waited to explain the codes I received from a smog. He told me that why would I drive around with it like that and that it could cost way too much. I said ok well what would it cost to check these he tells me I start at $130 but depends what I find. Well I'm sure I'm only asking you to check these exact sensors. Than with his snyde remark of oh you must have had your check engine light on forever. I said no it's been maybe 2 weeks he looks at me and says sure I wasn't born yesterday ! Like excuse me sir do you think I would care to even lie to you about it! David is a man of his word. I dropped off my van in the AM to have a Crank Shaft Positioning Sensor and serpentine belt replaced. Sometime ago, the check engine light went on, so I did some research regarding this issue and found out that you have to bring the car in so that they can do a computer test. After visiting three mechanic shops and a dealership, I found out that DT Automobile was my best choice... I tried to see if any reviews were posted anywhere. I didn't find anything, so I took my chances, and I am so glad I did! I have been a loyal customer since that day... It's a choice you may take your car to a dealership, or anywhere else, but at DT, I feel that he is honest about the services and he will give you a quote. (By the way, I have never paid anything higher than the price on the quote.) He will save and show you all the replaced parts, and best of all, your car is ready when he promises--and his prices are great!! Do your homework and be prepared. David at D&T was a life saver. I took my 2008 VW Jetta car to the dealership yesterday for an oil change before heading out on a road trip this coming Monday. After two hours the dealership came back with recommendations to replace the radiator, the vaccumm pump, an alignment and something else and the quote was well over 1,500. I seriously thought of trading in my car and was meeting with a salesman but they were taking too long and my friend referred me to D&T. I picked up my car today and paid less than half of the dealerships quote. The vacuum pump did not need to be replaced, just the hose. I have a lifetime alignment elsewhere, so I didn't have them do it. But if I needed it and they could do it I would have had them do it. I appreciate that Dave had me look at the parts he replaced. I did know that as a customer we have that right, I just didn't want to bother. He asked me if I wanted to see them and I said no thank you, I trust you. He promptly replied wrong answer come see them, you should always look at the parts. He showed me the specific place for the leading radiator, the hose split in half. Who does that?? Good service good prices. Does what needs to be done and doesn't try to up sell you into doing more. I called before open on Saturday morning. Although it is by appointment on Sat he was in and called at 8:00. Prompt diagnosis and quote. Held his price and brakes were fixed by 1:00. Can't ask for much more. David took my car in immediately upon seeing that the coolant reservoir was leaking. He replaced it (I brought the replacement part with me; I don't think he carries parts) in less than an hour, for only $40. He also added some grease to my squeaky doors and mixed my coolant himself. When I said I was going to walk back to my apartment to get coolant offered to wait for me to drive back, or if I would rather take a bicycle of his. I appreciated such a thoughtful gesture. I do not feel he was disrespectful, but he was certainly a little old-fashioned in terms of the way he treated me (a single young woman) but his pricing was very fair and honest. Great service. Came in on a Saturday to work on my car. Car was done in 2.5 hours and the cost was $140 instead of the $590 I was quoted by Jiffy Lube. He went to get the part from the dealership and did everything quickly and with tons of knowledge. My oil leak is all better and I am one happy customer. January 30th 2017 The first review was sugar-coated I must admit. David showed troubling signs of being arrogant, did not listen to my requests for repairs and told me I did not need them. He apparently is unaware that I used to work on cars with my father and I'm not the average bear. I feel like he doesn't respect women and I will not be going back ever. +++++++++++++++++++ ORIGINAL REVIEW David was recommended to us and he is friendly and fair, even sending his guy to my house when my battery needed a jump. Fast and with integrity he gets the job done. From a windshield replacement, to standard vehicle check ups to an alternator and a battery. All the work is good. On Bloomfield between Cerritos and Katella freeway close to 605 and Long Beach. We go here since our previous mechanic is closed. We get service for our newer Camry and an older Ford probe. The local tow truck drivers even know him by name, that's a good sign. So happy trails to you and here's hoping your car is safe and sound. read more

I know absolutely nothing about cars and I hate pushy sales people. Basically, I get that same anxiety walking into a car shop like I do when I walk into a gym full of people. Anyway, I've been to big car dealerships and sure you get free cookies and donuts, but I swear I always come out paying more than I bargained. And the insistence on additional services is sometimes ridiculous since I usually go in for just an oil change. But of course, I would pay up for more services because I need to take care of the one thing that gets me everywhere. So I heard about DT automotive through my friend and he insisted that David, who owns the place, is the best. And indeed he is! Not only is he nice, but so are his prices! But seriously, the most IMPORTANT thing about David is that he really advises you based on your needs, not on what makes him the most money (which is common amongst mechanics, esp big companies). For example, I brought my parents' car here, and David pretty much said it would be cheaper to buy a used car because there'd be so much work to do, to only run for a few thousand miles more. Super honest mechanic- have been coming here since it opened almost 8 years ago and would never think about going anywhere else. Mechanic was friendly and asked me if I wanted a more thorough explanation of what he was doing and what contributed to the price quotes. Great mechanic. David is honest and his prices are very fair. Not knowing a good independent mechanic I was reluctantly taking my cars to various dealerships for maintenance and repairs. I knew I was overpaying at the dealership so I began asking friends and family if they knew of a reputable mechanic in the area. DT Auto was recommended by several people. We have a company Los Alamitos. Up until today we took all our company vehicles for service and repair. I have referred him numerous time to friends and family but never again. David is a two face business man. Normal practice for business accounts is net 30. He tells people that we have not and don't pay on time. I can prove otherwise. Regardless if you have a problem call us or call me don't bad mouth or talk $h-t. Do not cut the hand that feeds you. Los Alamitos is a small community and I will do everything in my power to make sure business boys (not men) like you don't thrive!
