Dropped off our car for an 8:00 a.m. appointment with five requested items: * Intermittent EPC light * A/C controls malfunctioning + Extra small items needed support with as already taking it in for 2 main items above: * Burned-out headlights * Rear wiper replacement * Stuck headrest Summary: We were charged a $110 diagnostic fee for EPC, $110 diagnostic for lights (ha!), $70 for windshield wiper replacement, $40 for headlight replacement. We spent over $320 between the diagnostic and basic maintenance items (still trying to figure out a $110 diagnostic for light swap), yet the two primary concerns we brought the car in for were either dismissed or pushed into another paid diagnosis. That's difficult to justify from an independent shop that relies on customer trust and reputation. Details: - No communication all day after dropoff. We had to call at 4:00 p.m. and were then told the car wouldn't be ready and we'd need a loaner and to come get it. - Had to scramble for a loaner because no one bothered to update us. - Google says they're open until 7:00 p.m., but we learned from the on-site dispatcher the service staff leave at 5:00 p.m. After that, only someone handing out loaner keys and answering phone, with no knowledge of vehicle status or access to notes. - EPC diagnosis resulted in "no fault found". Full diagnostic charge anyway. If there were no codes, no findings, and no direction beyond "bring it somewhere when the light comes back," what exactly was the diagnostic fee for? Apparently it didnt cover all items we checked it in with either (A/C continued...) - The A/C issue, listed at check-in, wasn't addressed at all. At pickup, we were told it would require another diagnostic charge and keeping car for longer. Why were we told to come pickup car then if service wasn't fulfilled? Why not call and communicate that so we could decide before driving down expecting to pickup with services fulfilled. - Headlights & rear wiper: Replaced. Thanks for handling the simple items we could've easily done ourselves. We only added them because the car was already there for the larger concerns. - Headrest: Not addressed because there were "no notes." No offer to have us bring it back, no attempt to make it right, despite it being listed at check-in. The biggest disappointment wasn't that every issue couldn't be fixed (understanding EPC intermittent problems can be difficult to diagnose). The most disappointing part was management's response. Instead of acknowledging the communication failures or incomplete service, manager/owner doubled down and was defensive rather than solution-oriented or taking any accountability, only noting you should have been told we needed it for 3-5 days. Other than that, exact words: "I get paid to have all the answers" and "I have been satisfying my community". They defended the charges and the process despite contradictory from check-in. I was also told the A/C required a separate diagnosis, despite it being one of the original reasons the vehicle was dropped off. There was no ownership of the lack of communication, poor explanation for why only some of the requested items were evaluated, and no effort to make the experience right. Paying premium prices should come with premium communication, transparency, and follow-through. Instead, we paid $210 to hear "no codes found," and we figured out we needed to swap lights, ha! (plus +110 for basic swaps). Then, we were told to pay for another diagnosis on an issue we already reported (A/C), or to take it in elsewhere for work, and left with fewer answers than we arrived with. 1 star: thanks for a last minute loaner at no charge, though reminder, we had to call to even try to understand what was going on (and even at that, didnt get feedback!) read more

I called ahead before having my disabled vehicle towed to this shop because I wanted to make sure they could accept it. I explained that my car would not start and that AAA was towing it in. I was told to go ahead and bring it. After my car arrived, the first thing I was told was that they wouldn't even be able to look at it until Monday (it was Wednesday) and that the diagnostic fee would be $205, which would not be applied toward any repair. None of this had been mentioned during my phone call before the tow. Had I been told those details over the phone, I would have chosen a different shop before spending the time and arranging the tow. When I said I would need to take my car somewhere else, I was told they were "not a storage unit" and that I couldn't leave my disabled vehicle there. The interaction felt abrupt and lacking in empathy, especially considering I had called ahead and was following the instructions I had been given. I understand that shops get busy and that every business sets its own diagnostic fees. My disappointment wasn't about the wait or the price--it was the lack of communication before I had the vehicle towed and the way I was spoken to once I arrived. My brother and I helped out 80 year old Dad when his car had an issue and when we received the bid, we were shocked to see how high the price was and how many unnecessary add-ons they tried to pull on him. We decided to price around and found a shop in Long Beach that performed the services for around $400 less. We immediately towed the car from this shop to Long Beach. It's been quite awhile since I've experienced casual male condescending behavior, so coming here was an eye opening experience! In a nutshell, the owner kept my car for a week, attempted to charge $1600 for a "necessary procedure" that involved ordering parts, taking apart the engine etc. Long story short, I said no. The no was NOT well received. Took my car elsewhere, where the battery was replaced and all was good as new! Note: This review is intended to be fairly vague as I fully expect the owner to attempt to discredit and again condescend, that's how much I disliked the owner and his business practices. I could tell you the events and a big long story but to keep the review short and simple that shop seems to be poorly managed. Little to no communication with the customer his car is at their other facility when picking up, technicians not following procedures or even remembering whether a car was worked on and where parked when the customer comes for pickup, and work invoiced when work wasn't even performed. Just a very bad experience overall and my wife and I had high hopes. Considering they were AAA approved as we were looking for a new shop to service the families cars. Needless to say, we won't be back and wouldn't recommend to friends or family. read more

This place is very knowledgeable with excellent service. Originally, a technician came to my home to jump start my car. He was dispatched from AAA. He was extremely knowledgeable because I had just replaced the battery and he told me that I needed to replace a second battery that belongs to the start/stop feature on my Chrysler Pacifica minivan. Even when I brought it to the dealer, they told me that if I replaced the small battery, it would not fix the problem. The technician jumpstarted my car and I drove it to automotive excellence where they took care of me. The small battery that controls the stop start feature was replaced and the problem was solved! They also did a once over on my car and let me know that my car was in great shape. The owner of this establishment is extremely knowledgeable and helpful and does not just delegate work. His hands-on with the customer on site is refreshing and reminds me of old school mechanic days. What I mean is you can tell he enjoys a challenge and actually thrives when one arises I will take my car nowhere else from now on.
