Needing a smog check, I decided to come to this spot to try and get it done on a Saturday. They open at 7am and I arrived at 7:35am. I saw a lot of cars inside already so I thought I would have to wait a while. Brian greeted me and said he would get it taken care of right away. He was very friendly and the inside of the shop was nice and clean with wifi and a fridge full of drinks while you wait. It only took about 20 minutes! There were a few other people that arrived while I was waiting and I heard it was a first come, first served place for smog checks and oil changes (as people often make appointments and then don't show up). So get there early! I will definitely be back later this week because I also need an oil change. read more

When I arrived at the location, it looked very promising, pretty good sized repair shop. The desk manager was not very attentive, waited for over 7 minutes before i was acknowledged. I mentioned i needed my tire checked bc it went pretty low and i believe something may have been in my tire that is causing this, i believed it to be a screw in the tire. I was there for 45 minutes, total time..he said there was a pebble in the tire, the tech took the tire off, checked it in water..nothing wrong only a pebble. Ok. I may have been wrong. The problem is when i showed the desk manager where the screw was. He never bothered to pay attention, the tech never paid attention , put the tire back on..i went on my way trusting theyre word. Problem is i had to take it to another shop after work for the same issue and guess what the screw i showed the manager was STILL there!!!!do not trust them with your car, they are incompetant with merely fixing a simple tire. Not to mention they were NOT that busy at the time and they planned on charging me 45.00 for the "FIX". Went elsewhere paid 20.00 and was in and out in 20 mins..do yourself a favor and skip this place, the value of the service and the type of service you will receive will not meet your expectations. read more

This review is well earned by the sales rep Brian at the front desk. Calling Brian's customer service one star is generous, to say the least. I came in today to get a quote for a check engine light related to an O2 sensor. Before coming in, I had already priced the part so I could confirm exactly what was needed. Prior to agreeing to the $200 diagnostic, I asked Brian whether any of that fee would be credited toward the repair if I moved forward. He told me that **half** would be credited, meaning $100, which I felt was fair. Based on that, I expected something close to the following: * Diagnostic: $200 ($100 credited) * Labor: $200 (install time is .9 hrs + 1 hr diagnostic) * O2 Sensor: $179 (the same OEM part costs $59.98 at any auto parts store) Brian then quoted me **$579 total**. When I asked about the previously mentioned diagnostic credit, he declined to honor it. I also asked if I could bring in my own part. That's when things really went downhill--and honestly, I wouldn't have posted this review if it weren't for what he said next. In a very belittling tone, Brian responded, *"Do you bring your own lunch to a restaurant?"* He then continued by saying the building costs $10K a month and that they're expensive because they can be. I called Tuesday morning around 8pm, to ask about an oil change for my car (lexus es 2014) and they were surprisingly able to fit me in the same day! I dropped off my car around 12:39 (they normally have a shuttle service that has a service area of 5 miles, but it is closed for lunch) and got my car back at 3:30. Super quick!!! Pricing is extremely fair. I was able to also have them install an OEM oil filter that I brought in. So -$10 off the cost of the oil change for me. They did have "recommendations" for my car after the oil change (new cabin filter, maintenance for brake lines/fluids, front two tires getting worn down) BUT I appreciate that they mentioned their concerns and did not push for me to get the services done right away at their location. I had a faulty oil sensor that needed replacing. I checked around and 5 shops all said anywhere from $200-300 tops. I took it in to Cypress thinking it would be a similar price. Unfortunately, Brian charged me $470 to do the job. He said it would've cost around 200, but they tested the sensor. So they charged me an extra 270 to test a part that cost $37. The replacement was smooth and easy, so he over billed for the time. Will not be returning to Cypress Auto. read more

The best auto shop in town! The owner is the coolest dude and genuinely wants the best for his customers. I never feel like I am getting mislead or overcharged. Service is always great. One time I went in to get my AC looked at but it didn't quite get fixed. They had me bring it back in and fixed it right up. As a woman I used to hate going to the mechanic because I've always been made to feel inferior or straight up stupid. I have never one time felt that way at Cypress Auto Repair and Smog. They will always call you and explain to you exactly the problem with your vehicle and how to go about fixing it, never leaving you in the dark or in shock when you get a bill back with random charges on it. Cypress Auto was GREAT! Brian was super informative about all my 2015 Dodge RAM 1500 issues and even was hesitant to replace major parts when another place said I needed to (injectors). They found an issue that was 2 years old and it now passes smog. I ended up doing the injectors but it was my call since the labor had already been done to test compression and so it was only like another 1/2 hour. Called and asked if they could replace the headlight on my car and the guy said yeah no problem we have most lights, I asked if I could tell him my make and model and he said nope we'll have it, so I go and wait for over an hour for the guy to tell me they don't have the light, it's gonna take 2 hours to get and it's gonna be 200 dollars I go next door to midas i'm in and out the door in 20 minutes and spent 60 bucks. Appreciate the fact that even though they did hours of diagnostic on the car and spent some time after I got the car towed to their shop, they were not able to pinpoint the problem. They were honest about their capabilities and recommended I take my car to an experienced CNG (natural gas) car repair shop while waived my diagnostic fees even though they did try hard to look into the problem. Let me start by saying that going to an auto repair shop as a girl who only has basic car knowledge can be nerve wracking. An honest mechanic is hard to find. Brian and the team have worked on multiple cars for us and we are happy with their work. They do get slammed at times, so call ahead. Other times, our car is out within 2 hours. Just depends on what you need done and what they got going on. Bonus, they are AAA certified so show your AAA card for a 10% discount. Called ahead for a smog on a Thursday and they said they could do it but, lunch hour is a bad time. I asked if I could bring it in right then and there, around 10:30a, and the receptionist said absolutely! It was out in about 15-20min, which is exactly the estimate she gave. When they were done, my car was brought to the front door so I could hop in and go. Also note, the receptionist speaks both English & Spanish. read more

Appreciate them getting me out of a tough spot - Was unable to pass smog test on my Infiniti Q50 hybrid due to 'O2 sensor not ready'. Went to dealer at Orange Coast Infiniti, and was told that O2 sensors, catalytic convertor would have to be replaced, and possibly ECM - costing several thousand dollars. I gave a five-star review previously but I recently had a troubling experience: I took the car in on Thursday for an oil change and smog check. The "check engine" light was NOT on when I took the car in and I had not perceived any performance problems. They called me later to say the check engine light was on and they had performed a code scan that showed problems with the intake manifold. The work couldn't be completed Thursday or Friday. I didn't hear anything from them over the weekend or Monday morning so I went into the office to inquire. I was surprised to learn no work was being done on my car Monday because the technician who has been working on my car didn't come to work that day. They felt it was okay to let the car sit there unrepaired until he returned. I told them to finish up their work on the intake manifold and do nothing further. They finished the work on Tuesday at a cost of $1876.00. (I still need to get the smog done, but I just wanted to get my car out of there). This whole experience has left me with a creepy feeling and I won't be going back. read more

I started coming here after my sister in law recommended cypress auto to me. She's been coming here for years and now I've been coming here for about 4 years. I've gotten an oil change when the dealership said I had to completely clear my engine fluids (which would've been upwards of $5,000), I've gotten work done on the bottom of my car when the heat shield was falling off (quick repair instead of replacing the whole thing), and they're currently replacing my battery. They'll tell you what you need to get done today, what needs to get done soon, and what you can hold off on for a while. Like I said, they're honest. Absolutely great service, I went to have my air checked because it wasn't blowing cold and at the time they were unable to pinpoint the problem however, they did get it working for me and told me if it stops blowing cold to bring it back.
