DT Security's Danny and his installer Angel are excellent. We'd been with ADT/Brinks for 37 years. Our current system had been hard wired into the home we built in 2002. Its notices went out on a landline via Spectrum. Spectrum was out so much lately, (actually constantly), our system kept notifying that it'd lost communication waking us every morning between 3 and 5 am. We did not know dropped communication was the error. ADT did not know what the error code was. We attempted to resolve the issue over a 2-3 week period with ADT, including a 45 troubleshooting time after pushing ADT's AI to get a human tech. The tech could not even find what our error code meant. He could not resolve the issue, but wanted to install a new system with all new equipment. A second ADT tech the next day had me show a pic of our control panel and she immediately looked up the error code and it was dropped communication. She too wanted to take everything out of our system and start over. The estimates for two ADT sources were off by several hundred dollars. I was told the less expensive one was not correct even though it had a price guarantee until August 28. I was fed up. I went to AI. It said pull the AC plug on the system, it tends to hang on to error cords. Thank you! That stopped the beeps. We went through one more episode with corporate ADT and ended more frustrated. I looked for top home security system installers in the Bastrop area and DT Security (Round Rock) was on top in Yelp. I called and instantly reached Danny. He took us through their whole process, including taking advantage of the well installed original sensors. We reviewed Danny's contract. Our system would still use ADT (DT Security is a licensed ADT installer). The very next afternoon DT Security's installer Angel, upgraded our system to cellular, attached all the trip circuits we had, added new equipment when necessary and was done in 3.35 hours with everything working perfectly. Angel first met with my wife Chris and I, explaining everything in detail he was going to do. He was very considerate of our time and kept us informed through out the install. This morning I had a question and sent Danny an email. He called me within an hour and walked me through something I'd missed. So no 30 minute holds on the phone, no AI to negotiate with, no being passed from tech to tech, just good solid "local" services. After dealing with ADT for weeks, this was certainly a breath of fresh air and excellent service. This was a strong reminder to deal locally. read more

BE VERY CAREFUL! In May of 2022 we had just moved into a new rental house when an ADT salesperson knocked on our door. He gave us his sales pitch and answered our questions. I made it a point to mention that we were renting this house, so I wasn't too sure about making any unnecessary holes on the wall. I also mentioned that we had a lease for a year in the home, so there was a high probability that we would end up moving to another place before our 3 year ADT contract would finish. He told me and my wife that an ADT technician would come and mount the equipment on the wall and that whenever we decided to move we just had to give ADT a call and a tech would come and remove our equipment for us. He also told us that we could take our equipment wherever we moved, even to a new state, and just call to have it re-installed and pick up where we left off. We told him we would need to think it over. He then said that if he left our house without an answer, the "special" introductory price would be off the table and we would need to pay full price for everything. So, unfortunately, the pressure got to me and I signed the contract. A year later, we are moving to a different state. So I called ADT to have our system removed and transferred to our new location. The ADT rep explained to me that a tech can NOT come and remove our equipment and that the equipment is NON transferable. She said that I could physically remove the equipment if I wanted to, but it would pretty much be useless. She also explained that if I chose to transfer my services I would not only need to purchase new equipment but the contract would start all over again and we would be locked into another 3 years. So I filed a complaint on the BBB website. Then, Danny from DT Security called me to talk about "options" they had. The "options" are exactly the same I had already been told. Purchase new equipment with no "upfront" cost as long as you sign for another 3 years, or... pay almost $2000 for our current equipment which will be useless once we move out. Judging by other comments and complaints I've seen, this dealer doesn't mind lying and tricking people into contracts because once they've hooked you into signing, you're obligated to keep paying them, regardless of their dishonest methods. As for me, I have been in contact with my lawyer. As for you... Don't trust them. read more
