Update: True Protection is a separate company from Brinks. True Protection is top notch in customer service and will set you up properly and resolve any problems. You won't find a more helpful, personable group of folks to work with. However, Brinks is an awful company. We paid way too much for Brinks monitoring and equipment. 5 stars for True Protection; 0 stars for Brinks. Ask True Protection to not use Brinks for monitoring your system. read more

Updated: the system is broken AGAIN, had a technician no call no show today. They remain garbage Absolutely a nightmare from start to finish. The initial sales call went super well, they got out to replace our vivint system within a week which is where the problems started. It took them no less than EIGHT TRIPS to finally get the initial install finished, and each tech they sent badmouthed the work done by the other techs, and management was utterly clueless and absolutely incompetent. The install work was incredibly sloppy, and we had to have painters out to repair all teh damage they did to our walls. They used a weird hodge podge of equipment and software, and we remain deeply unsatisfied. AVOID like the plague. read more

If I could give negative stars: I would. True Protection sold us this service & after the system was installed we were unable to ever reach them again regarding maintenance. That being said: the system worked well for the 3 year term we agreed to, then it started malfunctioning and literally falling apart. I attempted to call Brinks to cancel the service & was met with a combative representative that claims we have renewed our contract and are bound to it until 2028! They claim we not only renewed the contact once, but twice! We have no record of this in email or anywhere else. I just got off the phone with a combative Brinks representative named "Jerrisha" supposedly based in Dallas. She claims that my 83 year old mother clicked something online (which she would never do!) which legally binds her to a contract for 3 years (in excess of $2500.00!) & that we must pay this immediately if we want to terminate the "service." The contract that we have onhand ended 2 years ago. It's unlikely my Mom clicked anything online, and I can't find any record of it. If this happened, it was in an underhanded and dishonest way and she was confused. Either way it's unethical. The service has been unreliable for 2 years (with emergency services being dispatched for no reason in the middle of the night multiple times). I had a suspicion we were working with a crooked company for quite some time now, but this latest interaction exceeds the disappointment I was expecting in ways that have my head spinning. We are speaking with our family attorney on how to pursue this since the representative from Brinks refused to clarify any dates or proof of the extension of the so-called contract. We are now receiving messages daily attempting to repair the defective system and / or insisting that we must pay $2500.00 to terminate the "contract" we have no record of. Even if a mistake did happen (unlikely) I don't believe a contract can be legally binding without terms, a verified signature, and a date. Both parties should have clear copies. I believe this is an attempt to extort my elderly mother and my family. Shameful to say the least. My advice is: avoid any vendors such as True Protection that peddle Brinks products / services. It's a classic bait & switch operation that only exists by locking people into three year contracts, then handing the account over to an esoteric corporate entity that arbitrarily "extends" the said "contract" multiple times without consent or clarity: dishonestly tricking customers & taking advantage of elderly people. If a company vends a product like this: they must be held accountable. The blame can't squarely be blamed solely on a shadowy corporation. Everyone please be aware. read more

I spent $9,000 with this company installing cameras and an entirely new system. The website for the cameras rarely worked, and I could never get anyone to respond to me when calling the company. Now that I need the system updated, they are completely unresponsive. I would not recommend them at all, and can't believe the better reviews that they have gotten. Obviously it wasn't explained correctly , reached and basically was implied I didn't understand. I'm not deaf dumb nor slow. I wouldn't agree to pay half upfront and half after install. Full disclosure- I can't vouch for how this company is once you have service- because I didn't get to that point. That's why I didn't give them one star. When I called the sales associate was very helpful- we just moved into a new house with an existing security system. We wanted it essentially reactivated and the control panel moved from the garage to the front entryway. He said no problem, gave me a price, I signed a contract (mistake on my part- I was just eager to get our home secured- lesson learned....) and we set up an installation date. The first guy who came out was super friendly, but when we asked about moving the panel, he didn't have the correct equipment. We had concerns about what the install would look like near the front door, and he showed us exactly where they would cut a hole and hook up the wiring in the wall. No mention that this was above and beyond what was on the work order and would cost extra. We rescheduled for a later date, no problem. No mention when we rescheduled that this was something above and beyond the original contract I signed. The new installation date comes, a different guy shows up and he has zero clue he's supposed to do anything with the keypad (that was the whole point we had to reschedule...) he calls the sales person who says it's going to be an extra $10/month to do what we want. They require a 3-year commitment so that's quite a bit extra! Prior to signing the contract, I sent the sales person pictures of the existing equipment and he said it was no problem, he'd take care of us. The contract specs had some equipment listed but nothing that a layman would understand to realize there was anything that wasn't on there that should have been. Again, my fault and a warning to others. Make sure what you ask for is stated plainly and unambiguously in the contract. So, we declined to have it installed, because they were asking for more than 25% of the original contract amount. The installation guy left, and the sales person who was so great and proactively communicative initially never reached back out. No clue how screwed we are on this contract I signed yet considering nothing was installed. read more

My builder selected this company to install network, security and AV services in a custom build house. Strongly don't recommend for any AV or speaker work, 1 of 4 planned speakers were installed correctly. Wiring was left unfinished in the attic and then insulated into the wall. They seem to have had many employee's leave which causes disconnect between pre-wire and post wire. read more

I recently moved into a house for which True Protection did the original low-voltage wiring and security system during construction. I contacted them to schedule an appointment to come out and evaluate whether we could replace BNC cameras with PoE, and a general consultation about the security system and other whole-home wiring, for which I was happy to pay their $50 house-call fee. After I expressed doubts about wanting to pay $750 to "upgrade" the security control panel, or signing a new multi-year contract for alarm monitoring, they stopped responding to my emails. I'm updating this from a one to a three-star review because they clearly did good work on the wiring in my home as it was being built. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had in fact run ethernet to the camera locations in addition to the BNC wiring as a form of future-proofing. However, based on this experience I won't be using them for anything else. read more

If you hire true protection, please be aware they will not be on time. It's not even that they won't be on time, the support staff - specifically Chris who is the only person I've ever been able to get to answer, is grossly incompetent and will flat out lie to you. He has told me arrival time between noon to 1pm, only to later say when I called to find out what is going on when no one had arrived or reached out by 115pm that the arrival time is actually by 2pm. By the way, that arrival time doesn't matter at all, they aren't going to be on time. I have several properties that I've used them to install security at and not once are they on time. In addition to them not being on time, they will also not be done within the time frame you were given to complete the job. For example, if you are installing security alarm system & 2 cameras, you'll be given a time estimate for how long the job will take - To minimize your frustration, double that estimate at least. It's important to note, this is not the tech's fault; It's the support staff in the office that consistently underestimate consistently timing needs and more specifically, it's always Chris's fault - he's the only in office support I have been able to reach, he has been doing this for years and he is as incompetent as ever. Not once when I have had them scheduled for installation or service despite how much time I spent fully informing of the installation components requested or the service will the tech that is sent out have all the information, and sometimes they won't have any of it & you'll have to repeat it all. It's important to note, this is not the tech's fault at all, it's the support staff in the office that fail to jot down any of the information and convey it to the technician. I've even had the tech reach me the morning of the anticipated install only to find out that they don't have the equipment requested back from the 1-2 weeks ago I scheduled the appointment which is once again Chris's fault because he didn't bother to write it down, he didn't bother to communicate it to anyone, and because no one bothered to set up for success & order it/ ensure it was in stock ahead of time. If you call for any reason, anticipate that your call won't be answered and you'll be calling and calling trying to reach someone because when you leave a message no one ever returns your call. Oh to top it off, if you try to provide feedback because you've finally really reached the end of the complete BS this company has pulled by way of Chris's gross incompetence, be prepared that this company doesn't care at all. Not only do they not receive feedback for improvement (so they do not seek to improve at all) but Chris will actually hang up on you. After wasting hours of my time at my last appointment bc the tech was nearly 4 hours late & he didn't have the job details or all the locations we were going to, I was mis-billed 3 times. When I pointed this out to Chris & explained this was frustrating but it was clear he didn't care, he said okay yes and hung up on me. This company could be great & could be really successful... but as long as Chris & his gross incompetence remain in his current role, this company will be hampered and far less than what it could be. read more

I recently had True Protection install a doorbell camera and 2 outdoor cameras. All cameras have 2 way audio enabled so I can speak to anyone outdoors and here what's happening. Jes was the technician that installed my system. He was absolutely wonderful! He did a great job installing everything and making sure I was comfortable with the placement of each camera as well as how to use the panel and the app. Jes also made sure to look at every sections readiness before beginning the installation. When doing this he found that one zone of my windows were not properly set up for installation. They were missing a part of the magnetic system needed for the sensor to function properly. He made sure to remedy this quickly before moving on. Jes was very thorough and made sure I was aware of what he was doing and where things were being placed. Before mounting the cameras we surveyed the area and determined the best location and once installed we both looked at the view and made adjustments until I was comfortable with the placement. I have been talking to Chris and Robbie to fix an alarm issue at our business. I switched to them about couple of months ago for my residence and my business since then only 3 out of 4 cameras work at home. Still giving benefit of the doubt I had them so install there service at our business and they have been unable to connect all sensors or provide a UL certification required for insurance purposes. I have gone back and forth numerous times and have been promised a resolution or call back but nothing in response. The worst experience I have had ever at any company after being reasonable enough with them to find a solution. read more

John Jarvis is amazing!! I requested a quote from 2 different companies, on the same day. John was the first appointment. He was running late but he gave me a call to let me know when he would get there. He was very professional, very clear on explaining the details, and even showed us how the app works for his house. He had great incentives for going through him for our alarm system. I told him that I wanted to see what the other alarm company could offer also. The other one was an hr late before they gave me a call that they were running late. So I cancelled the quote with them altogether and call John back for the installation. He was able to work with our schedule and get it installed quickly. Installation did take a while but he was very upfront about how long it would take and what needed to be done. I would recommended True Protection for anyone looking for an alarm system!! The owner is experienced and he is willing to step up and do the work instead of disappointing his customers. After problems with 2 other alarm/security companies we called True Protection. Setting up an appointment was easy and pricing was competitive. We decided to install alarm systems/cameras at two local businesses. Each installation took a few hours and the tutorial from the company was straightforward. The wall panel gives everything you need at the push of a button. The app for iPhone is extremely easy to set up, navigate and maintain. Adding/editing employees takes just a few steps and checking cameras used to be a cumbersome task. Not anymore. After using other security companies in the past and now seeing what True Protection can do, we will be customers for life. read more

To start the sales guy called me at 10PM to try and sell me their system. I told the guy that it is too late and he called me the next day. I should have went with my gut on this but decided to give them a shot. They were supposed to come out today to put in the system at noon. Here it is 12:30 and they didn't show. Be aware this company disappears after the initial sales job and install. I had first provided a glowing review for them 3 yrs a go and am revising it because I have been left out to dry after the initial installation. I experienced ongoing issues with the equipment that was installed and was always just pointed to online self-help tutorials. They also weren't interested in calling me back this year when I requested a quote to replace a camera, fix the video capture problems I experienced since day 1, the crappy doorbell unit that never consistently worked, and to expand my overall security system. They wouldn't call me back and finally sent me an email telling me I'd have to "call Brinks." What the heck? Subsequently I just switched my service over to another local company called Vital Security that was able to do all the things I wanted/thought True Protection could help me with plus more. They replaced the faulty equipment, expanded my system, and even walked me through all the rules and settings options that work best for my lifestyle in Alarm.com that I would've never found on my own. read more

Initially i had a good relationship with their team but just recently one of their installers put a foot through the ceiling when they installed some wiring. After i pointed out that the repair work was sub par and invited the owner to come look at it (before i paid for the initial fee), i got a nasty email back telling me that i was fired as a client and to call on someone else. no issues with them when it comes to the alarm but don't expect professional help if they mess something up. read more

Have had service with True Protection now for several years. Last year we made some upgrades to our system with 2 security cameras. We waited to install the second camera until after we had some siding completed. I shopped around for home surveillance and I ended up choosing True Protection a month or 2 ago and I don't regret it at all! This is a great compan with great product. The sales guy, Bryan Ruiz, was amazing and still keeps in contact with me when I have questions that would probably be for a different department. He was very helpful, knowledgeable and patient with me. The installation team was great also! One of them was named Sean (from SA I think) and I believe the other was Brian/Brandon/Brandon I'm sorry I don't remember exactly but they were also great and helped me over the phone even after installation with the app. I just wanted to leave a good review and tell them how much I appreciate them and how let everyone know how things are going well and I'm glad I made the decision that I made. They came the next day but the installation was not completed correctly. They then didn't show again for SIX different appointments!
