We had such a nice lunch here! I appreciated all of the allergen conscious choices that were also delicious. I had a sandwich on a very good gluten free baguette. What made it even better was that it came with CHIPS AND QUESO as a side - awesome! Beyond our food being very good, our server was so sweet and we enjoyed being able to have our dogs on the patio. The patio was nice and the inside was also cute.

I went to meet friends for dinner on a Friday night. There was no wait when we arrived at 630pm. Parking is very limited, but after hours, parking available in the bank parking lot across the street. The staff is very friendly and gives great suggestions of items to order. We started with the appetizer dip and it was okay; we did not finish it. We ordered a pasta dish (Marco polo) 2 sandwiches (mother clucker) and a to go order 'feed us carnitas'. I was not impressed with the flavor of the pasta and the meal itself. I may try this place again in the future. Everyone enjoyed their sandwich's and my mom liked her carnitas tacos. The flavor did not impress me this time. It is very cute and appealing. Just not for me. Give it a try for yourself.

    Russian Roulette from Du Lit

Du Lit will leave you unexpectedly surprised with the quality of food and service. The restaurant, although small, has heart. It will leave you shocked from the moment walking in, you notice the uniformed workers and are immediately greeted and treated with respect. I've been to this restaurant multiple times, and I can say when you have the chance to sit out doors or find a seat indoors it is absolutely worth every moment and the price. The menu is filled with hilarious and entertaining names of creative and innovative meals that can fit anyone's needs from vegetarian to gluten free. Du Lit is a restaurant you eat on a whim, then once a month, then once a week.

A nice little hidden gem! On a road trip we stumbled upon Du Lit and it was a delightful eatery. The menu is expansive with really good choices. We landed on Almost Alfredo and Philly the Kid. Both were very tasty and generous in the portions. We decided to try the plain cheesecake and wow, it was creamy and delicious (I think it was my favorite ). Haley was our server and she really made the visit perfect! If we ever cross paths with Fortville again we will definitely be visiting Du Lit!

The food here is delicious! We had the Nash Chips for starters and they were really good! I could have that for a meal! Then followed by Philly the Kid and it too had great flavor and delicious. Give this place a try and support a small local business!!

What a great surprise right here in Fortville Indiana! The owner chef is extremely creative and very comfortable to talk with. We visited in a Wednesday afternoon and he was not only our chef but he waited our table as well and spent quite a bit of time talking with us, describing his dishes, how he makes them and more. It was a pleasure to meet him and even more so to eat his food. His dishes are not traditional but they are a plate of flavor ready explode in your mouth. Both of our plates were excellent and well worth our stop and the more than reasonable price that we paid His menus is quite interesting with 4 distinct sections: starters, wrapped, plates meals and Nudel We both selected from the Nudel section The Acadia was great. Just a touch of kicking Cajun seasoning, definitely not too hot but plenty enough to know it's there. Very satisfying My wife had Almost Alfredo. I love the name.... She lived it, a very different take what we 'expected' even though he was very clear it is not chicken Alfredo. This is becoming a favorite spot to go to for afternoon meals. The ambiance of the place is very different from the previous bakery. It looks elegant yet very comfortable to be in. It's small but that makes it cozy and enjoyable. Food, servers and the chef are GREAT and must be visited. Check this place out and enjoy a very personalized meal

I would definitely come here again! This menu had combinations I didn't think we're allowed yet they turned out so delicious! There are some basics for the less adventurous but I leaned into my server's expertise and it did not disappoint. She gave me a few recommendations with her own favorite twists and I'm genuinely so glad I listened to her. Bonus: all the desserts are made in-house. The dining area is open yet so intimate at the same time. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Run, do not walk, to Du Lit While we had eaten dinner at Du Lit previously (and really enjoyed it), I had never tried dessert. Today, there was a post about Lemon Raspberry cheesecake and I absolutely love cheesecake and lemon bars.... Well, the BF went in to get me one slice and walked out with 6 slices. Like a kid in a candy shop, I had to immediately have a little bit of each. MY GOD. The Reese's, Lemon Raspberry and OG with cherries are all heavenly! Honestly, it's the best cheesecake that I've ever had, even over Cheesecake Factory. The chef of Du Lit is also amazing. He was working our front today and talked to my BF about cooking and such.

    Butterfingers cake! :D

Our server was amazing! He was very helpful, it was surprisingly cozy, and the food was GREAT!!! Also, the butterfingers cake is DELICIOUS!!!!!

I have wanted to try DuLit since it opened and finally made it i. For lunch. Why did it take me so long? Food was outstanding. I had the Cowboy smash and my friend had Philly the kid. Mine was delicious and i would highly recommend, but my friends, SUPERB! Rivals any Philly cheesesteak. In fact, I would say better. No cheese whiz! Instead the chefs own house-made cheese sauce. The interior has developed into a one of a kind interior, that is modern, clean and refreshing. So different from the regular restaurant style. Especially for small town Fortville. Chef/owner obviously loves what he does and his passion is apparent. Truly a unique dining experience.

I watched as people took their first bites. Forkfuls paused mid-air, conversations instantly ground to a halt, and eyes widened across every table. Jake Burgess and the crew from the Burgess Restaurant Group weren't just catering an event; they were executing a masterclass in craft for a crowd without taking a single shortcut. "You have got to try this," someone blurted out to my left, leaning across the table before even finishing their bite. "I'm tellin' you, Jake and his team don't miss," another replied. "Between FoxGardin, The Den, Bonge's, Carnegie's... it doesn't matter which spot it is, they nail it every single time." Taking it all in, it hit me why they stand so far apart. In a world full of safe, forgettable catering, Jake and the Burgess Restaurant Group served up the kind of deep, craveable food that ruins standard dining for the rest of us. It's the kind of cooking that makes you immediately start planning your next trip to one of their spots before you've even finished the meal in front of you. A massive, heartfelt shoutout to Jake Burgess and the entire Burgess Restaurant Group: FoxGardin Kitchen & Ale, FoxGardin Family Kitchen, The Den, Smoky's Concession Stand, Bonge's Tavern, and Carnegie's. Thank you for keeping us exceptionally well-fed last night!

We weren't going to get an appetizer but the bone marrow fries looked so good in pictures that we had to try them. They did not disappoint. Very large serving and extremely flavorful. Easily an appetizer for 4 or more people (there was only 2 of us so we brought some home). My dining partner is not normally a fries person and she loved these. For entree, my dining partner had today's special which was a shredded chicken sandwich that had a jalapeño cheese sauce and the house chips. She said it was very good and again half the sandwich came home. I had their breaded tenderloin which was very good, with nice breading to meat ratio and was a bit larger than the bun. It came with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. It came ala carte with no sides. Service was excellent, exceptionally friendly and really took care of us. One of the best waiters I've come across. Inside is a bar/pub like feel. We opted to eat in the air condition enclosed "patio" type area which had a bit more light, but was also noisy today due to the tin lined walls/ceiling and another group that was quite loud. Made it a bit hard to converse. Normally don't think this would be an issue. While not tons of items on the menu, the selection was quite varied and you could really splurge on a filet or other such dish and really go all in for a more lavish dinner or have a burger or tenderloin, all at any time of day. Parking was right in front of the restaurant but could see it being a bit tight on a busy day.

A true Italian gem in Fortville!…read more I went to Cortona's Italian Cuisine & Wine Bar for my birthday, and what an amazing experience! From the outside, you would never expect to find a place like this along Fortville's main street. But once you walk in, you feel like you've been transported somewhere completely different. Cortona's is an original, family-owned Italian restaurant, and you can really feel the passion and authenticity behind it. One of the coolest things I've ever seen at a restaurant is their chef preparing pasta right in front of you and finishing it inside a giant wheel of cheese. It's such a unique experience and something you don't see every day! The wine was fantastic. We had a bottle of Syrah Castagnino, which was excellent. I had the Pasta al Fumo with Italian sausage, based on Laura's recommendation, and it was absolutely delicious. Laura was wonderful from beginning to end. She knows the menu, makes great recommendations, and knows exactly how to pair the right wine with your meal. The fresh bread was also amazing, and we finished the meal with dessert that was just as impressive as everything else. The portions were very good, and the cozy ambiance made the whole evening feel special. After dinner, we went to the back section of the restaurant, where they've expanded the building and now have space for private events. It's a beautiful addition and gives the restaurant even more character. If you're looking for an authentic Italian experience, great food, amazing wine, and a cozy atmosphere, give yourself a good treat and visit Cortona's. Ask for Laura--she'll take great care of you, help you choose some fantastic dishes, and recommend the perfect wine to pair with your meal. Definitely one of those places where you walk in expecting one thing and leave feeling like you've discovered a little piece of Italy in Fortville.

It was hopping on a Friday night. I had been wanting to come here for a long time.. Everyone I know says this place is really good. This is a 3.5 star review. The bruschetta was 4 pieces and soggy. It was also 15 dollars. They don't serve table bread for free so I ordered some for $4 and it was about 5 1/2 slices of the same bread they used for the bruschetta. It was served with a bowl of oil with balsamic vinegar. I also asked for my pasta to be saucy and the waitress looked at me and she said, do you mean you want extra sauce? So for $2 extra I feel I got a normal amount of sauce so I'm not sure what a regular amount looks like. Unfortunately the pasta was pre-denté. Everyone else's dishes were steaming hot and the pasta was visibly able to be twirled around a fork. Mine was warm and I had to cut it with a spoon and fork just to get it separated for many bites, which were very chewy, almost hard. The ragù was fine. The atmosphere was nice for dinner. I read some other reviews and they are definitely mixed. One of my friends who had been before warned me after I was excited to initially try the cheese wheel pasta, to be careful. She said hers was wet and vodka flavored, so I didn't get it. Similar reviews said the same. I will say the calamari was some of the best I've had lately. Not chewy at all and a lovely light batter, served with tomato sauce. I did find it odd that the sauce was cold. Everyone else seemed to really enjoy their meals so this gets the 3.5 stars.

I understand that crab cakes can vary from restaurant to restaurant, but the undercooked texture was unexpected. We ended up asking for our check and leaving. Our server never asked how the food was, even though it was pretty obvious we hadn't eaten the crab cakes, which was disappointing.
