I stopped in here for my first time yesterday. We walked in and took a seat for lunch, we did not have to wait for someone to seat us. Our waitress immediately came over with the menus and asked if we knew what we wanted to drink. They serve only wine and beer so no cocktails here. We both ordered an iced tea. She left to get the drinks and we perused the menu although my friend already knew what she wanted she had a favorite there. She returned and we ordered. I ordered the Nash's Chips and my friend ordered Chicken Yum. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was pretty busy inside but still not overly loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We received our meals and my Nash's Chips were good but not spectacular, it was a good bite for lunch. My friend's meal looked delicious and she said it was her favorite so I will probably try that one the next time we stop. It's worth a stop if you have not tried it yet.

We had such a nice lunch here! I appreciated all of the allergen conscious choices that were also delicious. I had a sandwich on a very good gluten free baguette. What made it even better was that it came with CHIPS AND QUESO as a side - awesome! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beyond our food being very good, our server was so sweet and we enjoyed being able to have our dogs on the patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio was nice and the inside was also cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Russian Roulette from Du Lit

Du Lit will leave you unexpectedly surprised with the quality of food and service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant, although small, has heart.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It will leave you shocked from the moment walking in, you notice the uniformed workers and are immediately greeted and treated with respect. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've been to this restaurant multiple times, and I can say when you have the chance to sit out doors or find a seat indoors it is absolutely worth every moment and the price.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu is filled with hilarious and entertaining names of creative and innovative meals that can fit anyone's needs from vegetarian to gluten free. Du Lit is a restaurant you eat on a whim, then once a month, then once a week.

I went to meet friends for dinner on a Friday night. There was no wait when we arrived at 630pm. Parking is very limited, but after hours, parking available in the bank parking lot across the street. The staff is very friendly and gives great suggestions of items to order. We started with the appetizer dip and it was okay; we did not finish it. We ordered a pasta dish (Marco polo) 2 sandwiches (mother clucker) and a to go order 'feed us carnitas'. I was not impressed with the flavor of the pasta and the meal itself. I may try this place again in the future. Everyone enjoyed their sandwich's and my mom liked her carnitas tacos. The flavor did not impress me this time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is very cute and appealing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Just not for me. Give it a try for yourself.

Almost Alfredo

A nice little hidden gem! On a road trip we stumbled upon Du Lit and it was a delightful eatery. The menu is expansive with really good choices. We landed on Almost Alfredo and Philly the Kid. Both were very tasty and generous in the portions. We decided to try the plain cheesecake and wow, it was creamy and delicious (I think it was my favorite ). Haley was our server and she really made the visit perfect! If we ever cross paths with Fortville again we will definitely be visiting Du Lit!

The food here is delicious! We had the Nash Chips for starters and they were really good! I could have that for a meal! Then followed by Philly the Kid and it too had great flavor and delicious. Give this place a try and support a small local business!!

What a great surprise right here in Fortville Indiana! The owner chef is extremely creative and very comfortable to talk with. We visited in a Wednesday afternoon and he was not only our chef but he waited our table as well and spent quite a bit of time talking with us, describing his dishes, how he makes them and more. It was a pleasure to meet him and even more so to eat his food. His dishes are not traditional but they are a plate of flavor ready explode in your mouth. Both of our plates were excellent and well worth our stop and the more than reasonable price that we paid His menus is quite interesting with 4 distinct sections: starters, wrapped, plates meals and Nudel We both selected from the Nudel section The Acadia was great. Just a touch of kicking Cajun seasoning, definitely not too hot but plenty enough to know it's there. Very satisfying My wife had Almost Alfredo. I love the name.... She lived it, a very different take what we 'expected' even though he was very clear it is not chicken Alfredo. This is becoming a favorite spot to go to for afternoon meals. The ambiance of the place is very different from the previous bakery. It looks elegant yet very comfortable to be in. It's small but that makes it cozy and enjoyable. Food, servers and the chef are GREAT and must be visited. Check this place out and enjoy a very personalized meal

I would definitely come here again! This menu had combinations I didn't think we're allowed yet they turned out so delicious! There are some basics for the less adventurous but I leaned into my server's expertise and it did not disappoint. She gave me a few recommendations with her own favorite twists and I'm genuinely so glad I listened to her. Bonus: all the desserts are made in-house. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining area is open yet so intimate at the same time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Butterfingers cake! :D

Our server was amazing! He was very helpful, [[HIGHLIGHT]]it was surprisingly cozy[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and the food was GREAT!!! Also, the butterfingers cake is DELICIOUS!!!!!

Reese's, Lemon Raspberry and Original Cheesecake
Shauna D.

Run, do not walk, to Du Lit While we had eaten dinner at Du Lit previously (and really enjoyed it), I had never tried dessert. Today, there was a post about Lemon Raspberry cheesecake and I absolutely love cheesecake and lemon bars.... Well, the BF went in to get me one slice and walked out with 6 slices. Like a kid in a candy shop, I had to immediately have a little bit of each. MY GOD. The Reese's, Lemon Raspberry and OG with cherries are all heavenly! Honestly, it's the best cheesecake that I've ever had, even over Cheesecake Factory. The chef of Du Lit is also amazing. He was working our front today and talked to my BF about cooking and such.

Menu, beautifully explained

I have wanted to try DuLit since it opened and finally made it i. For lunch. Why did it take me so long? Food was outstanding. I had the Cowboy smash and my friend had Philly the kid. Mine was delicious and i would highly recommend, but my friends, SUPERB! Rivals any Philly cheesesteak. In fact, I would say better. No cheese whiz! Instead the chefs own house-made cheese sauce. The interior has developed into a one of a kind interior, that is modern, clean and refreshing. So different from the regular restaurant style. Especially for small town Fortville. Chef/owner obviously loves what he does and his passion is apparent. Truly a unique dining experience.

I go here every chance I get, and usually forget to take photos of the delicious food!…read more I am so glad i took the advice of the earlier reviews to entice me to try it out the first time (now years ago). This place has been a hit with my "21+" family due to the great food, great location, and usually good service. Minors are not allowed. Our most recent visit yesterday had less than awesome service but maybe she was having a bad day. The building is old with lots of wood paneling ... very comfy. There are several other wonderful restaurants in Fortville which is great for me as I have several choices. I never would have guessed that this tiny suburb would have such epic cuisine!

I love the small town feel!! The restaurant vibe reflects the town. Everyone is very welcoming. I didn't catch bartenders name, but she was very friendly to everyone at her bar. She told us her favorites on the menu. I appreciated her knowledge about the restaurant and the menu. The bar area seemed a little dark, but that actually enhanced the experience of an old bar. We only sat in the bar area, I believe there is additional seating in another room, but I didn't look. I opted for a grilled tenderloin and a cup of beer cheddar jalapeño cheese soup. The sandwich's are Ala carte. The sandwich was bigger than I expected, that would have been enough for lunch. The trick with grilled tenderloin is that many times it is over cooked, so it is dry. This was cooked to perfection; cooked but still moist. The sandwich, with the "garden" was awesome. Now to the soup. I think she said they use wee Mac as the beer. The jalapeño was puréed. There was crispy bacon crumbled on top; I did not care for the bacon. The soup was odd to me as I was eating it. Because of the texture, it reminded me of corn chowder. There was a little spice/flavor from the jalapeño. What was odd to me, was it didn't wow me like I thought it would, but I kept eating it. So in the end, I think I really liked it bc I ate all of it!!! The menu is not large, but has a good variety for its size. The desserts were impressive, I just didn't have room for it. I could easily become a regular there!!

But I'm so glad I was hungry and ordered the lasagna. It's a decent amount of food and I think it was the best Lasagna I've ever had. Seriously. My SO had been thinking about their linguine and clams and was not disappointed. There were fewer clams than the last time (granted it's been a long while now) so it's best for a lite appetite. It was hopping on a Friday night. I had been wanting to come here for a long time.. Everyone I know says this place is really good. This is a 3.5 star review. The bruschetta was 4 pieces and soggy. It was also 15 dollars. They don't serve table bread for free so I ordered some for $4 and it was about 5 1/2 slices of the same bread they used for the bruschetta. It was served with a bowl of oil with balsamic vinegar. I also asked for my pasta to be saucy and the waitress looked at me and she said, do you mean you want extra sauce? So for $2 extra I feel I got a normal amount of sauce so I'm not sure what a regular amount looks like. Unfortunately the pasta was pre-denté. Everyone else's dishes were steaming hot and the pasta was visibly able to be twirled around a fork. Mine was warm and I had to cut it with a spoon and fork just to get it separated for many bites, which were very chewy, almost hard. The ragù was fine. The atmosphere was nice for dinner. I read some other reviews and they are definitely mixed. One of my friends who had been before warned me after I was excited to initially try the cheese wheel pasta, to be careful. She said hers was wet and vodka flavored, so I didn't get it. Similar reviews said the same. I will say the calamari was some of the best I've had lately. Not chewy at all and a lovely light batter, served with tomato sauce. I did find it odd that the sauce was cold. Everyone else seemed to really enjoy their meals so this gets the 3.5 stars.

The space itself is what appears to be an old schoolhouse, and it's incredibly warm and welcoming inside. I noticed there's also an upstairs area that I didn't explore, but even just the main level felt homey and comfortable. It's definitely a spot I'd come back to for getting out of the house to work, bringing a laptop, or even meeting friends for a casual coffee date. The vibe is very cozy and inviting, and the staff was friendly and kind. The menu is thoughtfully curated, not overwhelming, but still offers a nice variety of syrups and flavors. My only small wish is that there were more loose-leaf tea options beyond black and green tea, but that didn't take away from the experience.
