Look, this is New York City. It's expensive. Everything from a hot dog to a packet of tissues will have a jacked up price. So I think it's unfair to complain about the high prices at Duane Reade. Every time I travel to New York City, it seems that I make a stop at one of the many locations to pick up something I forgot to pack. This time, it was lipstick, and while the options weren't exactly plentiful, I was able to get an acceptable item for under $10. The shelves don't offer many choices, but they always seem to have basically what you want, if not exactly what you want. DR is a good place to pick up bottled drinks and snacks too. Walgreens now owns the brand, so be aware that you CAN redeem your Walgreens rewards points here! read more

specifically chose this store to pick up my prescription sleeping pills as it said opening hours are 24h. I got there at 7.03 pm. The pharmacy worker sat there and informed me that the pharmacy closes at 7. She could have literally gave me my sleeping pills, but since it was 3 mins over (which it says on the website they are open 24/7!!!) she felt no need to help me in any way. Disappointed in the store as opening hours aren't clear and dissappointed in the pharmacist as a fellow human being as i clearly clearly needed my meds. Not giving someone his meds to me who needs them when you literally could to me thats just vile. read more

I was in need of some aqua four for a tattoo I have just recently my gotten done while visiting the New York area from cali ...was already late and had heard of this place luckily it's open later then most and also had the aqua ...also it's a pretty decent sized store and a gentleman that worked there helped take me directly to the area it was in to unlock the cabinets for me. If you're ever in need of anything from food/snacks to ointments to reading material and everything in between head over here cuz they will have it lol . read more

I can't believe there's another DR just two blocks north of this one, but I digress... Very clean, welcoming store compared to others in the neighborhood. The pharmacy is in the middle of an otherwise long, uninterrupted stream of aisles, a layout that I liked. Checkout was relatively fast despite the long line at the time. read more

I came here last night to buy some essentials for my apartment, the body wash area is locked so I ask for costumer assistance. I can see that it's busy but I've been waiting for more than what I'm supposed to wait, and I know they can see me because I'm right in front of the camera and they keep on ringing the costumer assistance button to help me. But nobody came I was being ignored. It's not the first time I had a bad experience in any Duane Reade Store in Manhattan at least. They really need to fix there costumer service, I don't know why they keep hiring ghettos who are unprofessional. No wonder why people would love to shop online, to avoid all of this. Duane Reade gives me the reason not to shop in store anymore but online. Because the employees are not even going to approach you if you ask for there assistance and even if they help you, they have attitude. It's worse than shopping in a Bodega. read more

Well, it's in the Port Authority Bus Terminal, so that elevates the skeeve factor by a magnitude of infinity plus one. Lots of sketchy characters hanging out here and you kind of have to dodge them to get to what you want. The store is L-shaped and it seems laid out haphazardly to me. It took me a long time just to find soap. Maybe I'm not so bright. There was only one person in line but it took forever to check out...that was more because of the lady who was paying but still, I was in the store for about seven minutes and that was about six minutes and 30 seconds longer than I wanted to be. Next time I'll just go to one of the four Duane Reade's within two blocks of my apartment. read more

They deleted my 1/2/2016 order because they didn't have the supplies or staff with which to execute on it over the holidays. At least they were upfront about admitting their flippant attitude and were fast about it. The store as a whole spares themselves from a 1-star since it's a very large plot size, far more than most other Duane Reade's. The staff is constantly re-stocking & the floor plan is regularly updated/refreshed so its circulation is a breeze & easy. The inventory is not only wide but has always been available for the ~10 years I've been commuting by this store. read more

Like Walgreens and CVS back home. Needed some toiletries and band aids.. also some snacks. This place came through with what we needed.

Picked up medication (Metformin ER 500 mg) Medication was dispensed with spoonfuls of powder dust and broken pills, unable to actually take the pills as they were not in pill form at all. Clear quality control issue. A copay was paid and the patient is without medicine for diabetes condition. Incorrect dosage indicated on the bottle as well. Walgreens is liable for any health and/or medical consequences due this. read more

I've no issues with Duane Reade. They do what they say on the tin with prices equivalent to their rivals. Conveniently located in Port Authority yet oddly never overcrowded and they do have pleasant & helpful staff. read more

Confused layout, always, in this disappointing store Took 10 minutes and three separate requests to find someone with key to obtain one tube of toothpaste. Credit card machine not reading at far left register and next door register not much better. Cashier guy with glasses #568 treated my aggravations at 7:59 am as a joke. No sense of urgency amongst most floor staff at a location supposedly geared towards rushing commuters. Try to buy a soda and pray you either make your bus or to work on time! read more

Such a dead atmosphere! They sell these cold foods in these plastic containers which is great when you're on the go but when you go over to the utensil station there's never any forks, spoons or napkins to accommodate you for the food you've purchase. I suppose hooking my fingers & scooping the brown rice I just bought will do. (Side eye) read more

wow, hard to believe nobody has reviewed this location yet! It's definitely convenient for those "oh shoot, I forgot my toothbrush!" moments right after you get off the bus. I don't normally shop at Duane reade because theres none around boston, so i dont have much to compare it to. It's a large shop right in the port authority that seems pretty well stocked and usually has at least a bit of a line. Service is fast though and not unfriendly. If you're in the port authority and need any last minute toiletries, worth stopping in here. read more

I just had the worst customer service in the Print Station of this store. They promise one hour delivery and it wasn't ready when I got there. The quality is terrible, when I ask them to reprint it cause it has damages, they said to como back in 30 min. When I came back they made me wait 30 min more and they did not figured out how to reprint!!! read more

Best-placed Blockbuster Kiosk. Decent layout. Love the three flight deal and the ability to enter from the subway. The cashiers tend to be SLOOOOWWWW!!! But it's not a bad bet when you're in the city. I'd actually give them a 3.5-star review, if it were possible. read more

This has got to be the worst Duane Reade in the city. Had a photo pick up I placed online and was told to pick it up anytime after 5:05 pm that day. Came at 8 pm and staff working the photo counter looked confused and then walked away. They hadn't even put in the order. Waited 45 minutes for it to be ready, and the poster photo I ordered had a huge smudge. Told to come back the next day. Waste of time. Picked up the new one the second time and come home to find another smudge. Incompetent staff. read more

Horrible service in the cosmetics dept. I purchased makeup and it turned out to be the wrong bottle even though it was labeled with the correct color number that I wanted. So I figured let me speak to someone who can help me - what a mistake. The guy in the dept. was very confrontational and spoke to me in a condescending manner like I was stupid for even wasting his time being there. I pointed out the error and walked him over to the aisle where he proceeded to tell me "then they don't make it, this is all there is" and just walked away from me. I was so angry I just went downstairs to the cashier and asked for my money back. I will never shop at this location again. read more

This place has not restrooms for customers. When asking about it instead of being accommodating, staff was rude, even the manager. I understand some places do not have restrooms for clients but they let you use the personal one when in need, specially if you are waiting for more than 10' for a prescription. Not nice people :-( read more
