How did I not know about these amazing donuts?? I am obsessed after my first visit during a trip to Columbia last weekend. After we figured out this is no traditional donut shop, we decided to order a half dozen from the 'classic combinations' menu. (Truth be told, we didn't even see the other menus with other suggestions, and we were a little overwhelmed by the seeming endless number of combinations.) It's great that your order is made fresh right in front of you -- these donuts haven't been sitting in a case all day -- so they are served hot and impossible to resist and save for later (although any leftovers do keep overnight well). Our favorites were the cinnamon sugar, blueberry, and the strawberry with blueberry drizzle. But it really seems like you can't go wrong here, and at only $1.40/donut, they are a total steal! I like that these are small, traditional donuts at the base rather than the overwrought, giant donuts that became so trendy about 5 years ago. So glad to know Duck Donuts are all over now, including where we now live in Charlotte. Can't wait to go back and try more flavor combos, and it will be fun to bring visitors here, too! read more

We tried Duck Donuts this Sunday morning. Be prepared for a little bit of a line depending on the day. The earlier you get there the better! When you walk in make sure to grab a dry erase marker and menu. You can create your own assortment or pick from the pre selected list. Each donut starts "bare" then you pick your coating, topping and optional drizzle! We got a half dozen; maple bacon, mint oreo with chocolate drizzle, blueberry and powdered sugar, glazed with sprinkles, peanut butter with graham cracker and marshmallow and cinnamon sugar with vanilla drizzle. It was very hard to just pick the six! It took about 15 minutes to get the donuts after we ordered. BUT it was well worth the wait!!!!!! read more

Duck Donuts serves some of the best donuts I've ever had! I had a great experience here. Came on Saturday, their second day of being open, and everything was super good. There was a long line but it went by quick. While in line, you get an order form paper and select the donuts you're ordering. Then you pay and wait for your donuts to be made. All their donuts are made to order, so they're super fresh. For how busy it was, they were pretty quick in getting my order out. All the employees were very kind and helpful. My donuts were fantastic, the cake has a perfect consistency and sweetness level. The maple bacon donut was my favorite, I highly recommend it. So happy I made it out to the soft opening for Duck Donuts. Although it was packed we received our made to order donuts within 20 minutes of entering the shop! My mom and I got maple bacon, cinnamon sugar, coconut, and peanut butter donuts and a custom lemon with blackberry drizzle donut. I have been waiting a long time for Columbia to get a donut shop like this! I love Krispy Kreme but sometimes the fried taste and doughy consistency can be overwhelming and over the top sweet. Duck donuts have a soft and light cake-like consistency and have just the right amount of sweetness. All the donuts were delicious but the maple bacon was definitely mine and my mom's favorite. Duck Donuts is definitely my go-to if I'm ever craving donuts. Located next to Taziki's in the same plaza as Whole Foods and Midwood Smokehouse, there is plenty of lot parking available. The restaurant itself is small, but has a nice and fun atmosphere with its duck themed decor. The staff is nice and friendly and the service is quick. Not to mention, the donuts are absolutely divine! The price of the donuts are also fair. There are plenty of options on the menu, as well as the option to build your own donut! They also update the menu seasonally, though there are still plenty of favorites that remain year-round. A popular choice, and well deserved, is the maple bacon donut. I'm personally a fan of donuts covered in nuts. We haven't tried much on the menu outside of the donuts, but don't really see a need to. We did try the coffee once before and it was super sweet, which isn't too surprising in hindsight, I guess, due to it being primarily a donut shop. Definitely recommended! read more
