I ordered off of Uber Eats but wanted to try it since everyone said it was good. First, my donut ice cream sandwich didn't even come which is disappointing since that's what I wanted the most. The donuts themselves were decent at best; I can tell they are warm and fresh even after delivery however because of that, most of the icing is on the box instead of the donut itself. I don't crave donuts often, just putting that out there. I knew that this was a large chain, but I did also find out that it was started in NC so that intrigued me. When you walk into the location on Skibo road, its open and cheery. There are cute ducks everywhere and the smell of sweetness that made me smile right away. There was a woman at the register to take orders and another that was decorating an order at the time that we arrived. We found out that you can pretty much customize things to make your own perfect confection. There are mannnny choices. There was also a few that were available for the holidays and then a chart with some popular choices, and I felt that was a good way to go. I wanted one to eat then and there, and one to take with me, so I chose a chocolate covered strawberry one and I chose a maple bacon and caramel one. For my Husband, there was a jelly donut, a chocolate covered strawberry, and a coffee cake donut. I also grabbed a water and many napkins. There are a lot of coffee choices and milkshakes and what not to drink, but knowing I had all this sugar about to enter my body, water is always the smart choice. The donuts are dropped fresh when you order them, and then the frostings and drizzles and sprinkles are added on a workspace right in plain sight. It was fun to watch. At that point, your number gets called up and they let you inspect them before they close the box. We sat down to take that first bite, and WHEW! It's warm, soft, and sugary and amazing. I first tried the maple bacon and caramel one. I loved the ooey gooey wonderful combination of all the different flavors playing together. The next day I had the chocolate covered strawberry, and while it wasn't quite as wonderful as when it was fresh, it was still super delicious. For some reason I thought it would be some variation in the donuts. The donuts left a gritty aftertaste I did not like and the bacon is not real bacon. We were out for brunch at the Metro Diner. They had a 30 minute wait so in the mean time we grabbed a coffee and donut. My first impressions after walking in was the line is LONG! But after understanding the concept of how they make donuts and personalize each one made sense why the lines were long. My husband got the dark roast coffee. So.... I want to be really clear this is from my heart. I live in San Antonio Texas and a family friend which was a distant family friend had a situation where they had a death in the family. I didn't know what to do... Do any of us know what to do? I took a chance and called duck donuts, because frankly I know it's a family favorite of everyone in Fayetteville. Cory, answered the phone. So hi my name is Dana I'm calling from San Antonio and I have this unusual request" Most people would've hung up. I explained I was out of town but I needed help to do some thing for a distant relation who had recently passed away. His first response was "tell me what you'd like me to do" So I explained I need to get donuts tomorrow to their house but I don't live there and I can't get the GrubHub app because it takes two days to qualify may count is there anyway I can just pay someone to take it over there?" I will tell you I was desperate, still in shock and very sad So Cory said to me-A person he's never met and has no allegiance to. I will come in tomorrow and take it over there for you myself. I mean seriously- do these people still exist in this world? no it doesn't stop there... I asked can you just write something on a napkin or some thing to deliver it? He said "actually I have a grocery store right around the corner and I'll stop and get a card -just let me know what you want say..." Whoever hired him -needs a raise. Visited Duck Donuts for the first time after seeing a few locations around. I really enjoyed the donut and experience of being able to create my own masterpiece of a donut. They have great options available and so many add-ons to choose from. I will say I am not a fan of cake donuts, but theirs being fresh and warm was amazing, I didn't care or really couldn't tell that it was a cake donut. If I knew cake donuts could be this good - or how others were that bad comparatively speaking - I would way 300lbs now, it's just a good donut.. I had the Oreo coating, peanut butter and chocolate drizzle, key lime coconut, blueberry, and cinnamon. Boy oh boy, my donuts were delicious. They were sooo hot. I like them coz they're hot, just like the song. I love sweets and donut is on top of the list, and these donuts delightful, on top of that, the made it the way I wanted it. That is freedom right there, you eat what you want the way you want it. Freedom is not free tho, they're expensive, but expensively sweet and beautiful. Dinner time between 5 to 6pm starts to get busy in here. The staffs were nice. During my visit there were only two working, so we had to wait a tolerable amount of time. So the past 2x I went there to order donuts they had made them wrong and the people behind me (who were in line behind me and put their orders in after me) had received their orders before I did. I love the maple donuts without the bacon and it just seems that they can't get that simple request for nothing. But this last time I went in there, the staff was more about playing around rather then making sure everyone was taken care of and out of the store. And when I told the young lady that it was not supposed to have bacon on it, she remakes the order BUT she used the same box she made the mistake in which was littered with bacon underneath the fresh donuts she made. i'm somewhat of a doughnuts purist. my ideal doughnut is a yeast glazed doughnut, with its many nuances and variability from shop to shop. that's what i thought i'd get to try here, so i was disappointed when i found out they only have cake doughnuts. well i was wrong. these doughnuts are so perfect, light and fluffy, not crumbly, appropriately greasy, and dare i say it, moist. i loved everything about them. we got a half dozen and were able to try many of the flavor combos, but my favorite was glazed. i love that they're made to order with no display cases. the people working were so nice and were very careful with each doughnut, making them all look nice inside the box. i was cynical and thought the magic of the doughnuts was in their fresh warmness, but again i was wrong. they were almost just as good later that night. i thought i knew my doughnut identity but this place has me questioning everything. new year, new me. read more
