We ordered a dozen donuts glazed to pumpkin to Oreo to bacon.. It was awesome to see the donuts get created/decorated right in front of us !! I was literally drooling! When we sat down to dig in the donuts weren't even warm.. I had to pick my drool up off the floor and leave feeling unsatisfied... I am a huge fan of duck donuts I love to visit them whenever I am on the Carlisle Pike in the morning however I tried their salted Caramell latte and I would not recommend any of their lattes, simply because they are not worth it. The cup is only filled half full with actual drink and the rest is whipped cream you would do better by just ordering a hot coffee and asking them to put flavor in it. Which makes sense, because their doughnuts are made-to-order on the spot -- meaning, they'll heat up the dough and dip it in the topping of your choice on the fly (no 6-hour stale pastries on the shelf ala some other doughnut shops). My go-to are the chocolate and glaze - and my suggestion on how to eat them: let them cool about ~10 min or so, so that the topping hardens a bit... otherwise, they're a little *too* fresh and melt a little *too* much in your mouth. She made me wait, and I'm glad I did These are by far the best donuts I've ever had. I know they were fresh because they were being sold as fast as they could be made. The wait was long but not nearly as bad as I expected for a Sunday, which also happened to fall on Mother's Day. As I patiently waited among a sea of last minute gift dads, the waiting space became more and more limited and disastrous. No clear direction for either the line or the waiting area. So I came here when they first opened and I have not been back. I don't want this review to be misinterpreted about the place itself but the chain. My experience there was not bad. They were just training high school students how to make donuts and a sweet girl took our order. The overall place was a bit messy but there was tons of lines too and the cleaning group just couldn't keep up. I would just like to start out with the fact that there's nothing really unique tasting about these donuts besides the fact that its "made to order" in the sense you pick your toppings. I don't really understand the hype besides the potential fact that this place caters to some form of nostalgia of families vacationing in the outer-banks maybe? But as someone who literally hunts donuts out in new cities, eaten award winning donuts, and have waited in lines longer than the ones here.... this place is Too Much Hype. Good place to try if one wants warm donuts and they have coffee too. You first order at the register and then wait until they make it fresh in front of you. You can see them being made behind the counter and then they add toppings, frosting to the plain donut. Takes a little bit time to get them. They have a good variety too. These donuts are great! They're warm and hand-dipped. What could be better? My favorites are the chocolate coating with chopped peanuts and the blueberry ones. They're pretty small, so you'll be able to go through a couple no problem. I like to get a bunch and sample them all. Service is pretty quick. Great fresh and creative donuts for a good price! I got the maple icing with bacon bits and chocolate icing with nuts and coconut shavings. My friend got the vanilla with powdered sugar and coconut and a mint icing coated one. She liked the well enough. Iced coffee was also reasonably priced with a nice selection of flavors. If you are used to Krispy Kremes as your hot fresh doughnut of choice, this is a complete departure from your normal. Duck Doughnuts are warm, doughy cake creations with a crazy number of different sauces, glazes, and toppings. These are not airy. They are dense and chewy. This place is very, very friendly and conscious about making it a good experience for the customer. I was really taken aback when I went up to the counter for my order and the worker asked if everything looked okay instead of just shoving the box at me. The donut itself is a fairly dense, yellow cake rather than a lighter, fried version. The coating and drizzle honestly all tasted similar to each other, overly sweet and thick. The only taste that really stood out was the raspberry drizzle and visually the lemon coating is a shockingly bright yellow. The donuts were delicious when hot and subpar when cooled. It's been far too long since there was a customizable hot donut place in the area, so I was excited when I saw this place was finally open. My husband and I went on a Sunday afternoon,and I think that timing was perfect as we avoided the traditional meal times. We still had a wait,but thankfully it wasn't too long. If you're able to go online and look at the menu before going in and placing an order, I would recommend doing so to save time. You can also look at the laminated menus they have in the store. Don't be like some of the people in line who don't look at the menu until they get to the register and then take forever to decide what they want. The donuts themselves are warm, fluffy, and just melt in your mouth. It was a heavenly experience. One more thing, I would suggest taking your hot, yummy donuts to go as there isn't enough seating inside. We arrived about 5 or so and there was still a line out the door. Hubby thought I was crazy for wanting to stand in line for a friggin' donut of all things. So we stood in line for about 20 minutes or so. I had a peanut butter icing, bacon topping, and raspberry drizzle donut. Hubby had a peanut butter icing and chocolate drizzle donut. He also ordered an iced coffee. After we ordered, it took about 10 minutes or so to get our donuts. We got our donuts, and mine was missing the bacon. Understandable, considering they had a line around the building literally all day. I'd be tired too. But we brought it to their attention and they cheerfully, immediately fixed it. OH. MY. GOD. Without a doubt, this was the best donut I've ever had in my life. I'm not kidding. It was cakey, warm, gooey, and just plain delicious. Hubby even thanked me for making him wait in line. I absolutely love this place! The donuts are so good and fresh. There are so many variations that you can choose from but my personal favorite always seems to have peanut butter on them while my wife prefers the ones with just a drizzle on them. If you arrive first thing in the morning the line isn't long but during peak times the lot is full which can be a downer when you really want one. The employee's are always so friendly and nice every time I go. They also always ask if my order is right before closing the box which gives me that sense that my satisfaction is important.
