Under-cooked donuts with too much glazing and burnt coffee This place is not properly designed to handle more than just a few customers on Sunday morning. Their donuts-making equipment is something you would use at home rather than in a business. Donuts were grossly under-cooked and fell apart as soon as lifted from the box with chocolate glazing dripping all over the table. Coffee tasted nasty just like the donuts. Ate half a donut and threw the rest out with the coffee. No comparison with Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme. Definitely not coming back. read more

I recently visited Duck Donuts in Williamsburg, VA. Upon entering, I was a bit confused because there were people sitting at tables and I was not sure if we're going to be served or if we needed to serve ourselves but the clerk recognized the confusion on my face and yelled a friendly, "May I help you"? The clerk was very helpful, told us about their product and pointed out the hundreds of rubber duckies on display. The donuts were the most incredible tasting confection that I had consumed in a long time. These are the best donuts I've ever had, easily. There are a lot of great Mom-and-pop places and the dreaded DnD in CT, but I've never, ever, experienced donuts like Duck Donuts. They are cooked and topped to order. You watch them float down a little fryer river and when they get to the end, the icing and topping you chose are put on immediately. You can choose your own toppings or pick from a list of recommended types. Let me just say, "Maple Bacon Donut!!!" Bill and the rest of the staff were very nice. We went our second day on vacation and recognized our confusion of the process the minute we walked in. Even though we were holding up the line, they walked us through the process and recommended their favorites. It was very difficult to not go there every day we were in Williamsburg. We went back on our way out of town for one last donut. They remember use from being in earlier in the week. I went back on our way out for a second iced coffee and the woman, who I wish I could remember her name because she was great just kind of whispered, no worries, and gave it to me FOC! As a student at the College of William & Mary, I have bought Duck Donuts on a number of occasions for club events, and people always rave about how delicious they are. When I went yesterday to pick up donuts for an event, I accidentally went after they were already closed. The employees were still there, and they were kind enough to make us over 4 dozen donuts anyway- they even put green and gold sprinkles on them to celebrate our school colors. Duck Donuts is an impressive establishment both because of the amazing products and their dedication to their customers. We'll definitely be back again soon! read more

This place is "ok". It does not leave me wanting to come back for more. The donut was warm but it was so heavy. Sorry Duck, this donut was just not for me! Although, I do think the concept of "order your own" donut is unique. I have never seen that before. For that concept I will give 3 stars. So delicious! The staff is always nice and it is very clean inside. I watch what I eat so I don't go here often, but when I do it's totally worth the calories! In my opinion, you MUST eat your donut here to truly experience it's full deliciousness. They make each donut to order and it's piping hot and decorated or topped however you want. My favorite donut is my own creation - a piping hot, fresh donut rolled in cinnamon sugar with a side of strawberry icing for dipping. Yum, I need to work out today so I can go get one this week! My first experience with duck donuts and while they certainly have an awesome variety, the service was just the opposite!! I ordered 4 donuts and there were only 3 other customers at the time. After 20 Minutes, I walked back up to the counter down choir about my order. Very nice employee advised me that they were shortstaffed today. It's a base doughnut, then they dip it in different toppings. Sweet Frogs for doughnuts. But did anyone notice where their hands go? Covered vinyl gloved hands take the doughnut and start dipping it into toppings, as they change toppings, their hands move to under the table to a shelf where a wet rag lays. They use this rag to wipe their fingers between toppings. Then touch my doughnuts, then someone else's doughnuts. Then he wiped his nose, didn't remove his gloves, wash hands, and re-glove. But he did wipe his fingers on the wet rag on the shelf. My half dozen doughnuts, didn't even try them, went straight into the trash right by the front door. read more

A co-worker brought in Dunkin Donuts and it just did not compare! Dunkin Donuts tasted like they had been sitting there all morning but that is NOT the case with Duck Donuts. I read a recommendation for this place online. When we travel, we love to eat local. I was shocked by the fun of this place and impressed with the taste. The way they do it is original and fun for the kids. From bare donuts with cinnamon sugar to glaze with Oreos, everyone was satisfied! It was fun watching them make our "special" donuts. Had Duck Donuts for breakfast this morning- OMG! I never knew made-to-order donuts were a thing. They are and they seem to have perfected the process as the order was ready very quickly. I had a chocolate frosted donut with bacon- amazing. The donuts are different from traditional donuts- they are cake-like and remind me off fried dough. You get to pick your frosting and toppings. The staff were extremely friendly and personable. I also got an iced mocha latte which was also made very well. My boyfriend got the donut rolled in a cinnamon sugar which was also delicious. If I lived in Virginia this would be a dangerous spot for me. Definitely check this place out! read more
