This lounge/restaurant is located on memorial drive closer to start of 78. I've been doing reviews for the Caribbean community for years for another organization. And I've wanted to check this place out. They have beautiful pictures and very exotic dishes. First of all i pull up on a Sunday and there is a gang of folks outside in football gear. What I know about football, only that it's not played w your feet. I go inside and that place was packed w more sports fans. No Caribbean music or even soca. It was a sports lounge. Fine, disappointment one. I go to order my takeout food and find that I am in a tucked away corner, in the middle of waitress traffic. I'm waiting next a guy at the bar shooting major game at a girl. Fine, I'm single so of course I'm sour. Lol. I would suggest an area just for takeout. Waiting time wasn't long. The food, was freakin awesome. The jerk pasta was above average and the salt fish egg rolls were very creative. Maybe if I went another night I would have another authentic Caribbean lounge feel. Don't know. read more

August/September 2020 I hate to admit that yes the kitchen has been closed a couple of times that I've tried to come get food. Sometimes the hookahs aren't available either. I can't get too upset because when the kitchen's open, it's delicious! I originally took my mom here and we ordered the quesadillas, chicken & shrimp nachos, and some wings. We all had rave reviews for everything. The 2nd and 3rd time I came, it was later at night. Although they were serving hookah and drinks, there was no food. I have returned several more times to eat! This is definitely your neighborhood sports bar. I love that they have juke box, and there are always some interesting characters around to chat with. Food was okay. The conch fritters are really good and the drinks were solid. How you gonna be a Jamaican restaurant and not have sweet plantains? They said they ran out. It took 10 minutes+ to get water and over an hour for the food to arrive. The rice and peas didn't have coconut milk, were tasteless, and the waiter was too busy playing pool to tend to our needs. I wouldn't come back here. We were here for over 2 hours. I really think this place is a club because NO ONE but us was in the restaurant. Fish didn't taste right and was not escovitch at all. Expensive but excellent food!! Ordered the coconut salmon, oxtail and jerk chicken. They are were nicely portioned and everyone enjoyed it!

What I love most about this place is how authentically Caribbean they are! No changing the recipe just good food, drinks, and familiar bar vibe. I've been there a few times and honestly always for the food. The space is big and I'm not sure which not but at least one I been there to witness live karaoke. Tried a variety of items here. I wasn't impressed with the jerk tacos, I felt it was alot going on. Not high on the festival. First time I had it was in Jamaica, I guess it will be hard to duplicate here. Now to the good stuff. I think the wings were great. Had the jerk and house made. I guess the creamy pasta with the jerk chicken is their signature item. This is the show stopper. If you in the area, this is a must have item. It was perfectly put together. I hope u like spicy. I've been here before for a party, late night and the wings were pretty good. The atmosphere seemed good for the party it was hosting. However, I recently visited during the day and I will say the inside would benefit from a face lift. The walls near the bar were disturbing to look at, the soda machine which I hope is not functionally didn't appear sanitary. Since I was the guest of another customer I didn't want my stush ways to be overbearing. However, the roti that was ordered was a pure disgrace. It would have been better for them to say they had none than to serve a dry and hard piece of rolled up dough. I was insulted that they would even attempt such blasphemy on a dish. I will say the curry shrimp was good , cabbage and rice and peas were also good. The other party ordered the salmon and said it was good as will. He opted for the sauce that comes on the salmon to be placed on the side but said he enjoyed the spice level to it. He did say the white rice was hard. Service was mediocre at best. To be seated at the bar with no one else in the restaurant other than 2-3 other guest also seated at the bar was pretty pathetic to not be checked up on. The energy of the sever was lacking and I hope this is seen as constructive criticism to do better in the future. Doubt I'd visit again. read more

I went to try something different and LEAH gave me the BEST SERVICE. She's so sweet and attentive and the food surpasses any restaurant in the area. Everything is AMAZINg. 10/10 highly recommend. The food is always really good. Don is a great host/ manager/ waiter/ bartender/bouncer so basically this place could run with out him. Don and the Cheft is the heart of this bar. Bar needs to train staff and update the dingy look. read more

My friends and I were ecstatic to finally grab a bite to eat after a long day. We seen the sign for the restaurant, checked the reviews, and were excited. We are all avid eaters of Caribbean food. When we arrived around 11pm, there were hardly any people in there, which we thought would be great. To our dismay, the service was terrible. We were our waitress only table and we had to constantly remind her to refill our water. Our food took forever. After 20 minutes of waiting after we ordered, she came back and asked if we would like our food spicy or mild. I ordered oxtail and my two friends ordered the snapper. I chose spicy and they opted out. She finally came out 10-15 minutes later with one plate and placed it in front of me. I was confused and asked her was it oxtail and she looked confused and said no you ordered the snapper. She continued to bring out food and she asked who had the spicy snapper, which no one ordered, but by this time we were all so hungry we said it was fine. She did bring out my oxtails, but there were only 5 small pieces with barely any meat on it. There was a cup of hot sauce on my plate, so I guess that's what made it "spicy". Also, the rice and peas were dry and the "cabbage" was more of a vegetable medley. I told her the rice and peas were dry and she asked me if I had tasted it first. Subsequently, I asked to speak to a manger. I told him i was upset about the automatic gratuity because she honestly didn't deserve 18%. He discounted one of the meals, but gratuity was still attached. Additionally, there's a service charge for not using cash. It was overpriced and tasteless. The snapper was decent, but the lighting is so bad that it was necessary to use our phone's flashlights to ensure not to eat the bones. Needless to say, we won't be returning. read more

This was me and my mom's first time here. We went on a Friday night and it wasn't crowded at all we came in and sat ourselves. There was only one waitress but she was very attentive (forgot her name but she has red short hair). We ordered the watermelon margaritas and my were they tasty and just the right amount of strong. They didn't taste cheap and that was something we very much appreciated. We asked our waitress for any wing recommendation flavors and she recommended the Duckanoo flavor. It was sooooooooo good. The correct balance between sweet and spicy as she stated and it was the highlight of the night. The jerk chicken and shrimp pasta was okay but it had an after taste but nonetheless the quesadillas and wings made up for the small disappointment of the pasta. I don't want to encourage anyone not to try the pasta because they give you more than enough. The atmosphere is laid back and pretty chill. They had a Dj but he didn't start playing music until around 1030/11 and my mom and I were wrapping things up by then. Considering this was our first time I was glad we got there before the crowd. We can't wait to come back, try new food and drinks, and bring friends. read more

On my first visit from the food menu I ordered the jerk chicken pasta and it was delicious and they don't hold back on the portions of there entrees it was enough for 3 people in my opinion.My 2nd visit I tried there signature Duckanoo wings and when I tell you they were great, believe me. I almost ordered a 2nd order to go.It's nice to have a nice neighborhood bar and grill in east Dekalb county again that actually pride themselves on delivering great service and food at a great value. I would give zero stars if I could. The only redeeming quality about this place is the food. I love the wings and pasta both taste really good and are reasonably price. My main issue with this restaurant is the management. I came in at 1AM to order food and was told the kitchen was closed even though the restaurant stays open until 3AM. This was a surprise to me since I've come to the location several times at the same time and not had this problem. Was really disappointed in the lazy staff. One waitress spent the shift talking to a guy with a fucking fat tail. Like who has a rat tail in 2020. They had multiple accounts of the kitchen closing but an hour before actual closing time?!!! It's time for an updated review! First and foremost, do not believe the hype. While the website may say that they have all of this great food on the menu, it is untrue. The place is kind of hood. I say this due to the lack of air-conditioning, the lack of decor, and the limited menu. What you will find, however, is wings, french fries, small crab legs, a variety of loud rap songs played over the speakers, and dirty restrooms. Don't get me wrong, if the website would have said these things and then maybe, and I do mean maybe, I could enjoy the place. The website however makes it seem that this is a step above maybe Red Lobster and Olive Garden. It's more like...I don't really know. Duckanoo is literally my favorite lounge on the Eastside of Georgia. The Jamaican vibes that the place has is welcoming. Although it's Jamaican theme they cater to American feel good music and vibes as well. The live DJ's give a great vibe for any culture. I met the owner Dave, He is a very down to earth business man. His staff have exceptional service from the servers to the cook and the food is amazing. I've been coming here for about 6 months and every time I come I have a great experience. From the wings and fries to their signature jerk chicken pasta and burger with bacon the food is mouthwatering. My favorite appetizer would have to be their Jamaican fritters. They look like amazement and taste even better. My favorite main course meal hands down is their hand cut boneless jerk chicken with your choice of two sides, my favorite sides; broccoli and rice and peas. When I tell you you will finish your plate full and satisfied I tell no lie.!Big hand cut jerk chicken that flavor of their jerk chicken sauce is classic. The simple steamed broccoli with famous Jamaican rice and peas completes the meal.! Served hot and beautifully prepared it will end up your favorite meal too!
