Let me tell you, this place? Community, comfort, and carbs, all in one. From the moment you walk in, it's giving warm, welcoming, "everybody knows your name" energy. The décor is cozy and inviting, like it's hugging you before the food even hits the table. Now LISTEN, do NOT come here playing around. Come hungry. I mean empty stomach, no snacks before, say a prayer kind of hungry, because these portions? Baby, they are not for the weak. Everything is super filling, and they are not shy about it. And somehow, SOMEHOW, our food came out in less than 15 minutes...in a packed restaurant. I don't know what kind of kitchen magic they've got going on back there, but I was impressed. Like, are there teleporters involved? Because wow. Our waitress was also a gem, super social, attentive, and always checking in to make sure we were good. The kind of service that makes you feel taken care of without being over the top. All in all, amazing experience. Great food, great vibes, great people. I'll definitely be back...after I recover from this food coma.

This rating is for breakfast only as we have never gone for lunch but regularly dine in or pick up breakfast. This place has been around for years and for years they have done breakfast right! They have wonderful bacon and always cook it to perfection. If you order it well-done, you get it well-done. Poached eggs soft, medium or hard-cooked are always as requested. The grits are perfectly cooked and creamy. For something different try the Berry Biscuits. This is innovative and as delicious as it is beautiful (fried biscuits with a slightly creamy pecan syrup and loads of berries). Such a delight!!! Whether dining in or taking out, we have never been disappointed in thirty plus years. Its a cozy little space with friendly, attentive staff. Don't miss!!

The ad for this place popped up in my social media and one look at the menu and I was hooked (dang algorithms ...). We got there a few minutes before they opened and there were already vehicles in the parking lot waiting. Since we were one of the first people there, I snapped a picture of the inside with no customers but it quickly filled up with what looked like local folks. Very cute place and fun decor. Both the hostess and our server were super friendly. My husband ordered the Riley Special, with scrambled eggs, bacon, and a waffle. I ordered the Creole Shrimp and Grit Cakes with a side of avocado slices. He loved the Riley, but maybe could have eaten a little more? He said it was probably enough for a normal person. The quality was great, though. My shrimp & grit cakes were outstanding: perfect sauce and a LOT of shrimp. I was surprised because I have had shrimp plates at other locations that barely have any shrimp at all. FYI though: the avocado slices were $3.50 when added as a side. The menu didn't really say (I don't think), so I was a little surprised. The rest of the menu looked so good, we're talking about going back for lunch one day!

Service was really good! promptly seated and greeted ! we enjoyed the mimosa flight for starters. he had the creole omelette with hash brown casserole. the casserole was a bit dry but omelette was good with a nice cream sauce. i had the special omelette with feta, spinach and tomato. the restaurant was clean with outdoor benches available for seating while you wait. breakfast is served all day.

Last morning at the beach, fam wanted to do brunch before we rolled out and Duck's wound up being the call. Somewhat surprisingly, this was the only spot we had any meaningful trouble getting into all weekend; there was a 25 minute wait at around 11 AM on a Sunday. There's seating outside and a nice loud speaker so no worries about missing your name being called. They were true to form with the wait time, though (right at 25 min) and eventually we got all 9 of us seated. It's a little cramped inside and can get quite loud but the decorations are fun and kitschy. The highlight of the experience for me was the service; everyone we interacted with was incredibly pleasant and working hard and very efficiently. I ordered a breakfast platter that came with eggs, hash browns, bacon and a piece of French toast. Hubs got something somewhat similar -- don't remember what -- but sans French toast/pancake/waffle. I think my mother in law got chicken and waffles and my father in law got some type of steak or pork chop sandwich. That stands out because whatever it was he said he rarely saw it on menus despite loving it. I don't recall what the rest of the group got other than Sis-in-law and baby cousin got some kind of fancy cold brew drink and liked it. The food was fine but I thought mostly unremarkable. The sweet tea was good. My eggs were cooked nicely but my husband's were veryyyy oily and he didn't care for them at all. My bacon was fine but a little underdone for my preferences. I did enjoy my hash browns; nice and super crispy the way I like them. I added bananas to my French toast and really wish I hadn't. The bananas were some of the most unripe bananas I've ever eaten in my life -- hard, bland, almost sour. I scraped them off and just enjoyed the French toast instead. Overall, no huge complaints, but nothing to sing to the skies about either. Pleasant family atmosphere and simple, familiar food; the service was the best part for me! Not a bad option but wouldn't necessarily be my first choice in the future.

Wonderful service and good food. The biscuit was fantastic! The cheese omelette was cheesy and good. This is a must try while in the area.

We had lunch here. My partner had a shrimp poboy that was good. I had a cowboy burger that was not really great. It was a little salty and the beef did not have a lot of flavor.

    Little duck breakfast with sausage

Loved it here! It feels like your grandparents decided to convert their home into a diner. Lots of duck decorations! Tables are set up in the main house section and on the two enclosed porches. Bathrooms were clean! Waiters and waitresses were all helpful and attentive! So kind and even gave us suggestions on popular menu items. Banana stuffed French toast was delicious!! It tasted sort of like a cinnamon sugar donut with bananas and foster sauce. It was also topped with pecans. The biscuits were super fluffy and soft on the inside. Hash brown casserole was a favorite for the whole table. You'll see that some of the scrambled eggs were well done, but that was as requested. Best breakfast some of us had all week!

Great service and the shrimp and grits was the best I've ever had. The crispy fried grit cakes topped with that shrimp cream sauce is amazing!

According to previous reviews, this is a nice family owned diner that is loved by many locals. My friend and I stayed in Gulf Shores for Hangout Fest, and we decided to stop here on our way back to Pensacola. I like to support small businesses when I am traveling. Since this is a family diner, expect the ambiance to be loud. There will be babies and kids and if the noise level bothers you, you should not eat here. Everything is straight to the point with the menu. They do not allow substitutions. It makes sense because they are used to make everything their way. The decor is nothing fancy, as it is very dated. In hindsight, if you're looking for something modern and upscale this place is not for you. I was not looking for that, so everything was good for me at this point. However, there is delicious southern food awaiting at this place. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles with a side of bacon and my friend ordered Ducks Special. Our waitress was very sweet, although she forgot my friend's hash-brows. I throughly enjoyed my chicken and waffles. It was my first time trying that combination and I was surprised by how the flavors mingled together. Overall, I enjoyed this small family owned diner. If you like golf you should come and dine here since they have a little golf course in the back of the diner. We had a cool seat overlooking out the golf course. The price is right and the food is delicious!

We came in expecting a great local diner, but instead were served overpriced, excessively greasy food that wasn't even prepared well. My oldest son ordered breakfast for dinner. The eggs were dry and overcooked, the waffles tasted like the frozen waffles you'd get from a budget hotel continental breakfast, and the bacon was so undercooked it was barely edible. My husband ordered the chicken-fried steak and was shocked by how small the portion was for the price. The flavor was just as disappointing, and he ended up leaving most of it on the plate. My daughter's club sandwich and my turkey Reuben were just mediocre--nothing special and certainly not worth what we paid. The entire restaurant felt like it was charging premium prices for cafeteria-quality food. By the time we left, our bill was around $140 including tip, and I honestly felt like we had completely wasted our money. It was, without question, the worst meal of our vacation. There are far too many excellent restaurants in Gulf Shores to spend your time and money here. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Love that pimento cheese ball appetizer with that blueberry pepper jelly! For lunch, I had the meat and three. It was all good, especially the collard greens. SERVICE THIS WAS MAYBE SOME OF THE BEST SERVICE I HAD THE WHOLE TIME I WAS IN ORANGE BEACH THIS WEEKEND. OUR SERVER WAS SO AMAZING. I HATE THAT I CAN'T REMEMBER HER NAME, BUT SHE WAS ON TOP OF IT AND SUPER DELIGHTFUL. DRINKS The bar area looked really nice. Most of my table had iced tea which everybody enjoyed. I also got a beer from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I was very impressed by their beer selection and they are a verified venue on the Untappd app so you can go to that app to look at all the beer selection and even filter and sort the beers so that you can have an easier time selecting the proper beverage. It was refreshing to see that it wasn't the usual cake like kind, plus not the ultra sweet kind either. More bread like with a hint of sweetness. Delicious. The fish and potatoes had a nice flavor but unfortunately the cold food spoiled the experience. Since I was a guest of my sister I didn't say anything about the cold food. What a disappointment. Visiting Gulf Shores, AL? Nice seeing you... now go home!…read more LOL, I had to start out with that one. But seriously--whether you're a local or just visiting, you have to try Duck's Diner - Gulf Shores. It's a true local favorite, and it keeps getting busier now that the tourists have discovered it too. One of my personal favorites is the Creole Shrimp & Grits--a true classic packed with awesome flavor. They are definitely not skimpy on the sauce or the shrimp, so be ready because you're probably going to need a to-go box. More of a burger person? Heck yeah--the Cowboy Burger is always a strong favorite and a solid choice. Want a sandwich instead? Go with the Reuben on Rye. It's definitely a winner and never disappoints. Need something to drink? They've got you covered with everything from good coffee and sweet tea to a Screwdriver, which happens to be one of my favorites. Overall, you really can't go wrong stopping in here. Sometimes I almost wish y'all wouldn't because it gets so busy , but I'd hate for anyone to miss out on one of the best local spots around. If you stop in, tell them the local biker "1/2 Time" sent ya! I won't get anything for it, but at least they'll know I was true to my word and gave them the solid review I promised.

I was a bit disappointed with the Creole Benedict. In my opinion overwhelmed the other flavors in this dish. We overall enjoyed this for a nicer casual sit down breakfast in the area.

I'm always leery about Mexican food - it tends to be heavier than I would like and I often just assume it might be low quality. Because of that pre-disposition, its not very often that a Mexican restaurant impresses me but this one certainly did. First off, my husband and I ordered margaritas and when they asked if we wanted small, medium or large we were like - "um...large". Holy cow, are they ever! We should have actually shared one because these things are huge! We each only finished half and they gave us to go cups for the remainder - popped them in the freezer and finishing them off tonight. And not only are they ginormous, but also delicious. A nice amount of tequila and good flavor! For food, we ordered steak fajitas - very good, thought I would have appreciated some guacamole with it. Tacos Birra - second or third time for my husband having these here because he likes them so dang much. And a 3 item combo with 2 soft shell corn tacos and a chile rellano. They were kind enough to allow my son to go slightly off menu with a carnitas taco instead of the basic ground beef or chicken and he very much liked it. My chile rellano was quite good as well. And since the chips and salsa always matter to my husband - we also enjoyed these throughout our meal. In fact, I even liked the salsa and don't usually eat it.
