The bar area look cool and the layout was nice. FOOD this is why you came here, right! All kinds of fish cooked all kinds of different ways. Delicious gumbo. Love that pimento cheese ball appetizer with that blueberry pepper jelly! For lunch, I had the meat and three. It was all good, especially the collard greens. I went after church on Sunday with my sister and brother in law about 1:45 pm. The place wasn't crowded. Had a laid back beach vibe. They had a meat and three sides which is a southern thing. I chose the fresh catch. with side salad, boiled red potatoes, and greens. I had asked the server for the salad first. But it was brought with the meal. The salad was fresh and crisp, with a surprise of a small Peppa dew pepper. Blazing red with a little heat and delicious. Haven't seen them in a restaurant ever. Unfortunately my fish and potatoes were cold, cold and butter congealed. The greens were warm and good I had also ordered the cornbread. It was refreshing to see that it wasn't the usual cake like kind, plus not the ultra sweet kind either. More bread like with a hint of sweetness. Delicious. The fish and potatoes had a nice flavor but unfortunately the cold food spoiled the experience. Since I was a guest of my sister I didn't say anything about the cold food. What a disappointment. We got the pimento cheese hushpuppies and they were good, but I couldn't tell you they actually had pimento cheese in them, couldn't taste that at all. The pepper jelly they came with, however, was good. Ordered the cajun mahi mahi which turned out to be cobia as they had no mahi mahi. All good, it was still very tasty and fresh tasting. The grits and collards were amazing. My husband got the jambalaya pasta and that was also delicious! Our server was nice, it just seemed he kept forgetting about us. We had empty water glasses for the remainder of our meal once we finished ours. Hoping that is just a one time thing and we caught him on a bad day. They weren't bad, but we didn't get the pimento cheese flavor at all. They felt like regular hush puppies that would be served along side a dish. I chose the blackened Mahi Mahi as it is one of my favorite proteins and it came with collards (another one of my faves). Luna's has been one of my main go-to spots on Canal Road for years. I stopped in recently to grab dinner and see some of the new changes they've made to the place. The biggest difference is definitely outside. They really upgraded the outdoor experience with a nice grassy courtyard and a stage for live performances. It is perfect for families now because they added a massive raised sandpit. You can actually sit back in one of the Adirondack chairs or at a picnic table while the kids run around. Inside, the vibe is still that warm Southern hospitality I am used to. As for the food, it is consistent and fresh. You absolutely have to try the pimento cheese hushpuppies because they are amazing. I also love the Tomato Pie. It sounds simple, but it is crazy good year-round. The menu covers all the bases from Nashville Hot Chicken to fresh Gulf seafood and steaks. It makes sense that the food is dialed in since these guys are owned by the same group that runs Cosmo's and Cobalt's. You can tell they know what they are doing. If you are in Orange Beach, this place is a solid choice. It is laid back, the service is friendly, and the food hits the spot. Highly recommended. read more

My husband and I went to Luna's for a late lunch. We were greeted by a sweet hostess who sat us in the perfect spot on the patio. A beautiful view over the back area. Our server was super sweet and knew what we were going to order for dessert! He ordered filet with blackened shrimp, mashed potatoes, and Brussel sprouts. I ordered catfish, Mac n cheese, cheese grits and corn nuggets. We shared Holy Smokes and it was so good I'm going to be dreaming of it tonight! EVERYTHING was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I'm in Orange Beach for my birthday weekend and I came up a day earlier than my friends, so I was looking for a good place to celebrate my birthday alone. Luna's seemed like the place to go. It had a good menu, good reviews, so I took a chance and went. Since it was just me, I didn't have a long wait for a table and I was seated within twenty minutes. My friendly server came up and greeted me right away and I ordered a soda to drink and the seafood gumbo to start. The gumbo came out hot and it was flavored well and there was crab, shrimp and okra throughout. Great start. When it came time to order the entree, I had my heart set on the Delmonico Ribeye, but I asked my server whether he would go with that or the Cajun mahi mahi. He recommended the mahi mahi so I forewent my preference and opted for that. As you can see, it came out looking great, but a big bite in, and it tasted extremely fishy. So I nibbled around a bit and ate mostly the grits and greens and decided that it was a miss. I really didn't want to create a whole thing about it, but now I know to go with my gut next time and just get the ribeye. I'd go back again just to give that a try, but overall, great experience, from the friendly manager/hostess who sat me, to the server, selection and ambiance. So this is probably a weird thing to get excited about but we just had the best fried okra EVER. There's no way these were frozen. Fresh and perfectly breaded and seasoned. So delicious. We chose Luna's for our last dinner out before concluding our beach weekend getaway. We were so happy we did! This restaurant is located alongside a few other restaurants and shops and hosts a large gravel parking lot and a pretty turf lawn that I think has some games available to play. It was bigger inside than I expected and we didn't have any trouble getting a seat for party of 9 on a Saturday evening. Our waitress was Claudette, if I remember correctly. She worked very hard to keep all our drinks topped off and our food orders and specifications correct. She had a calm and pleasant disposition and I enjoyed chatting with her. We ordered a little bit of everything. To start, we had the pretzels and beer cheese - yummy! The cheese especially was delicious. I decided I'd be a little extra and order a drink; Claudette steered me towards Luna's Tropical Splash, which had mint, strawberries, and a coconut rum base. It was delicious and refreshing! Note that there are a few small pieces of mint and strawberry so if you like a texturally very smooth drink this won't be for you; I really enjoyed it! Love the blend of coastal and southern food here. It was a great pick for us because several of our party just aren't that into seafood, myself included. I can't remember exactly what everyone ordered, but I'll do my best. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and greens; sister-in-law and her husband got the same thing but swapped for different sides (fries and corn on the cob, I think). Other SIL got a burger and fries. Husband got the crab claws. My mother-in-law got a shrimp poboy and father-in-law got the wings and a salad. Baby cousin got fried shrimp and her friend got a salad and a side of hush puppies. Whew! Think that covers it all. Absolutely NO ONE had anything they were disappointed with. Well, okay, my husband misread the menu and thought he was ordering crab legs and not claws and that bummed him out; but that was his mistake lol. Sis-in-law loved her burger and said she'd eat it everyday. Baby cuz said she couldn't believe how good every restaurant I'd picked out for us had been, especially this one. FIL loved the wings. And me? Man, my food was good. I am also usually someone who'd swap for different sides as opposed to mashed potatoes and greens, but hearing the reviews about this place, I took a chance and figured the chef probably knows what they're doing. They do. The combination of flavors was spot-on. Salty, crispy, succulent chicken; smooth and creamy potatoes; the brightness of the collards and the savory pot liquor...WHEW. SIL and her husband agreed the fried chicken was amazing. Also, for the record, baby cuz's friend couldn't eat all her hush puppies so I tried one. Didn't get a ton of pimento flavor BUT that homemade blueberry pepper jelly was fabulous. I don't come to "the beach" that often but Luna's will be high on my list of places to return when inevitably I wind up on the gulf again! Great service and impeccable food! read more

We ordered takeout when we got there they acted strange and then told me my food wasn't ready yet. They started scrambling and one of the girls told the other one that this was on her. 30 minutes later I see the 2 girls run out the front door with the takeout bag that had been sitting on the counter the whole time I was there. Went to Luna's for lunch. The staff was friendly and courteous. The place was fairly crowded but we were able to be seated right away. They have a nice Bar menu with mixed drinks as well as an extensive Craft Beer selection that changes seasonally. At least 20 different Beers. I had a red Ale from Big beach brewery. Delicious. My buddies had different beers from different craft brewers and enjoyed them. The menu was varied and had more than one thing that I wanted to try. I enjoyed the Meatball Sandwich on a French roll with crispy tender Fries. One of My buddies had the shrimp and grits he said it was very good. The other had Blackened Chicken on a salad. He also said it was good. We each had separate checks which our server had no problem doing. Electronic payment right at our table. Food was good. Service excellent. Good atmosphere. The Fresh Catch was amazing! I'm dairy free due to my son's CMPA, and they were very accommodating. This is my first time trying Luna. It was very delicious. Our server was so attentive We started off with the beer, cheese, dip, and pretzels. That was so delicious. I decided on the tomato pie for appetizer for myself and it was so amazing. I wanted to bring some home with me. Our server Sedanny was really great. I had the mac & cheese with the grilled chicken. Probably up there with the best mac & cheese I've ever had. My son got the cheeseburger with pimento cheese and he thoroughly enjoyed it. The Nashville chicken sandwich and she liked it as well. The dessert of the day chocolate chess pie and we split it and it was also amazing It was a very nice atmosphere. There wasn't a wait which was great. This was one of the most economic meals I've ever had on the coast. Price vs. quality, Luna's is king of all beach places and it's right here folks. If you are in town and want a good lunch at a great price, here it is. We did buy the crab claws at MP of $26. Not a good value. They were unfortunately, some of the worst I've ever had. Tough to eat with low flavor. Meat was kind of "mealy", if that is a thing. Idk, I just didn't think they were good quality compared to what I have had before. That sucked. Oh well. Outside of that, the meals were great! I had the Blackened Redfish with fried Brussels and Grits. Gosh damn it was good. The Brussels were maybe the best I have ever had. I ate every damn grit on that plate along with all of the fish. $16. Damn. The Cobia special was only $12, I should have ventured out. The most beautiful bride ever got some kind of Deviled Eggs Pimento Cheese plate with all of the goodies man. She tore it up! It was exactly what she was looking for that day. Our waitress was pretty groovy man. She took care of us and made us giggle all the while. I'm not sure who was higher, me or her... The sign at the urinal in the men's room is the best I've seen.
