It's an airport; in NYC at that, so color your expectations with that first. You seat yourself, you order from an iPad type device at your table, the "waitress" isn't particularly friendly, and she doesn't make that table connection I come to expect at a restaurant where I spent $41 for appetizers. Your food comes when it comes (and not necessarily at the same time). The olives that we ordered with the the intent of eating with the Prosciutto de Parma board came at different times. While my husband ate, I waited for my meal--Brussel sprouts. The B.Sprouts were good. We're they $13.99 good? Well, it's an airport so that is expected. We asked for water and was given a glass with no ice. When we asked for a refill, the waitress put a bottle on the table with a $7 price tag on it. When we asked for a refill, she promised (twice) but never filled the glasses. I kinda felt like she thought if she waited us out, we would give up and drink the $7 tepid water. I eventually went to the bar and asked the bartender for a glass. She agreed and brought us a refill. And WHILE we are still seated at the table, the bartender/waitress starts sloshing a RAG on the table...yes, the SAME table we are presently sitting at! People say New Yorkers are rude. And that isn't a fair assumption, but they live up to that stereotype at this spot. For $13 you can go right next door and get a slice of pizza, a bag of Doritos and a Pepsi. We paid $41 for what was essentially just appetizers--I guess they threw in the indifference and lackluster personality for free. read more

Hey for a small terminal restaurant I don't think you can go wrong!! Warning you are going to be ordering from an iPad and pay for your bill from that too. But you know what; no pressure from having to place an order fast because waitress is in a hurry. I thought the burger was great. My coworker had the meatball sandwich he said it was killer. There are really limited options in terminal 2, so during a long layover, I found myself picking here because it looked like more of a sit down restaurant with real food. When I walked in, there was no hostess stand, so I started to seat myself, but then someone quickly directed me to sit somewhere else instead. There are tablets on the table that you can order with - they're somewhat intuitive, but when it came time to pay, my card didn't read in their slider. An employee came over and tried to help me and also had to swipe (aggressively) five times before it would even go. I ordered the carbonara, which was fine but not anything special. The pancetta wasn't very good, but I was hungry enough to eat it still. If you're expecting service, think again. They will drop your food off and never come back. Getting through TSA is an interesting experience. I think they tried to make the terminal appealing, but the dining options are limited. The only low end is a Wendy's and the coffee place. We looked at all of the places and decided on Due Amici. The hostess was nice and offered us a two top, we asked about a booth but it's for three or more. I even joked that we're big guys that could pass for three, and that made her nervously laugh...LOL! Our server was very friendly and explained what we must do. Okay, so how often do they clean these iPads? Yes, it's expensive for airport food. We ordered a half bottle of wine which was surprisingly good. I ordered the rigatoni with bolognese. It was decent, though the ground beef was flavorless compared to the pork. I should accepted more parmesean. Daveed's meatball sandwich was better and came with a small mixed green salad. The server even brought out more dressing for him. Although, his order came out about 10 minutes after mine. Overall, it's decent, though expensive. The only consolation about paying before hand is that you don't have to flag anyone down for a check. Another thing about the wait time, anyone who sits in the lounge areas with the iPads can order from any of the restaurants. So this explains the delay. Again, it is a decent option. Not overbearing but helpful. I ordered a Black Bean Burger. Yea, I know I was taking a chance. I was pleasantly surprised, the sandwich was very good. Especially, for an airport restaurant. I have to admit, that they were very attentive to my needs. They young lady with long black hair was very pleasant and she smiled a lot. Was interested in serving you . I'm not a fan of Airport food, but honestly, Due Amici was interestingly decent. With limited eating options in Terminal 2, (I felt) Amici pulled it off. Amici goes for the tablet ordering system- which is totally genius and made ordering easy! Tablet stands are permanent- however, some Tablets are removable and stands serve as a pedestal for a Pizza tray. But our corner booth's tablets were permanent and took away from table space. So in that respect, they were really annoying and not comfortable as we kinda had to rotate and pass plates over tablets to share with each other. It was really easy ordering and navigating using icons and language selections. Menu had a bit of everything and think I underestimated their quality. My Misticanza Salad with Shrimp was luscious. Mom and my hubby enjoyed their ham sandwiches and our Parmesan Cheese plate, was very good! Only time we came across an issue was "opening the tab" then trying to pay at the end. Which at that point, we flagged a server and assured hubby since our transaction didn't go through the first time in our Tablet- that she's canceled and would use another empty table's Tablet right next to us. I love airport restaurant yelp reviews. The short: this is one of the better airport lunches I've ever had. The longer: I had an hour to kill before my flight, so stopped into Due Amici to grab lunch. I was greeted by really kind staff and grabbed a seat towards the back. I ordered on an iPad, and my waitress came over to check to see if I needed help- I find ordering on an iPad to be pretty seamless. I got an arugula salad with grilled chicken & a side of olives (lol- why the hell not?). The plate of olives was HUGE for $6. My salad was on the pricier side ($20), obviously... since we are in an airport... but really fresh and delicious. The chicken was good, the dressing was yummy & the arugula was crunchy and fresh. Mushy, oil-soaked and mostly over-cooked, these "Idaho potatoes!" are probably cooked long before you ever show up, and then reheated. Army K-rations are probably tastier. Went here because I had a food voucher from the airline. Server told me to pay with my credit card and the manager would refund me. When the time came, the manager said the server was down and she could not refund me. She was stern, rude, and finally agreed that she would contact me the next day once she processed the refund. She gave me a phone number that does not work. I have not been given a refund almost a week later. Normally I don't write these types of reviews, but the manager's customer service skills were terrible and she lacked empathy and was harsh about the situation. The server was very respectful and remorseful about the situation, trying her best to correct the situation. But I'm very upset that my credit card was charged, and I can guarantee the manager also charged the food voucher. read more

Oh, it's not that bad. I needed some food to take onto my flight departing from Terminal 2, and after walking around the entire terminal twice, it seemed that Due Amici was the best option for "real" food. I asked for takeout and was directed to browse from one of the iPads on the tables. I quickly looked at all the sections of the menu and decided on a pasta carbonara, which was $20.95 I believe. The pasta was fairly good, and it came out in a reasonable amount of time. Hours later I am still waiting for the email receipt to percolate through the interwebs though, which is a little annoying because I need to expense it! read more

The short of it: They serve up $10 McNothing meals with a 300% markup. They won't actually take your order, all they do is bus your table and bring the food- and they expect 18% gratuity. I sat down at the bar, several personnel were about the area. I ordered my meal, via the IPAD, swiped my card and was done. No one greeted me, asked if they could help me or anything! Then a gentleman sits down, two seats away from me... and there's a waiter, all over him. Asking how he could help and even walking the guy over to another restaurant, that accepts cash! WTF? I asked the guy, when he returned, did my order go thru? He looks at the IPAD and says, "yeah, you're good". Really? I had the Arugula salad and a glass of wine. Before you see, or taste, what you order--your money is already gone. Furthermore, you have to TIP when you order as well! And the tip is mandatory! Non-negotiable! So you have to pay for your food before it is served to you and you have to tip the server before you ever receive any service. Not to mention there's scarcely even anything to tip for! This is glorified take-out! Whatever. Maybe all of this would be permissible if the food was stellar but, unfortunately, it was not. I got the breakfast combo or something. The american classic of eggs, bread, meat, potatoes, and juice. It ran me close to $20 just for the meal. I added green tea on top of that which, actually, was really nice and came in a cute little french-press-style tea steeper. Sadly, the tea was the only nice part of my meal. All of the food was bland, boring, and lukewarm. I won't be back here. Spend your hard-earned money somewhere else. If you're not aware, "Due Amici" means "Two Friends" in Italian. This will be the most bland and disappointing meal that you consume potentially for your entire life.* Two entrees a water and a sprite was an $85 meal. Airport food is always overpriced but they could at least make it taste good. Make sure that in any of these restaurants you're not paying for your neighbors meal with the card swiper. After all the poor reviews, I tried to just play it safe and not spend a lot knowing that whatever I ordered was going to be disappointing so I just went with spaghetti with added meatballs. Look it wasn't bad but that's also not what I really wanted. Listening to the people next to me they were frustrated that the main came out before their salad. When they brought out my wife's burger, it was drowning in cheese and some kind of unidentified spicy sauce. It also had a regular bun (she ordered no cheese, no sauce, and gluten free bun). It was as if Guy Fieri had personally made this culinary disaster. They then tried to bring the same burger back with a different bun (still with cheese/sauce). I was there at 6am and No one was there to greet or seat you even though there was two host standing desks on each corner. i went inside and asked a server where should I sit, she looked at me and ignored me, so I had to ask a sitting customer whats the deal. Basically there was a tablet which has food and drinks option and YOU HAVE TO SWIPE YOUR CREDIT CARD & PAY FIRST (including gratuity) BEFORE YOUR ORDER GETS MADE. It's completely unacceptable since the gratuity should be reserved for after-service and depends on how the service is. How can anyone pay atleast 15% gratuity before the order. It's like open tab system in bars. Once I put in my order, it took them almost 25 minutes to make an omelet but again it was different from what I ordered. I told the server (who was very rude and straight face) and she first didn't believe me and insisted that the cook made according to my order but when I showed my receipt, she angrily took my plate and went back to the cook with a slip of what's exactly written in my order. Then they made it correctly but they now served me with cold hash potatoes. I had my flight in 20 mins so i didn't bother to send it back again. The food was mediocre and not good. When I sent out the food back the first time, the server forcefully closed my tab and printed out the credit receipt, so that I am not able to reduce the gratuity that was enforced initially. This is bs. I could see some other customers also disappointed by the food and the service.
