I was in JFK airport catching a flight to Puerto Rico. I was really hungry so my cousin & me decided to try this restaurant. We wanted a waitress & to dine in. This was one of the few places that had those options. I ordered a chicken parm sandwich w/ the marinara sauce on the side. It wasn't too bad. I feel like the chicken cutlet needed more flavor & was a little dry. It was pretty pricey as well. The marinara sauce had way too many onions for my liking. My cousin ordered a meatball sub & garlic bread for the table. The garlic bread was descent but a really small portion for the price. I was very surprised that the food here was actually bearable, but was turned off slightly by having to pay for your food before you even receive it. The best thing about this place is the food. Surprisingly, it was some of the best, if not the best, airport food I have ever had... for a price. It is located in Terminal 5 at JFK and conveniently located in the center of activity, although there is a cordoned off area protecting you from the masses and adjacent open food hall. The restaurant is primarily Italian food focused, which is fine. We were seated right away, but other than bribing out the food, the servers just stood around. What's very quirky and annoying is that you not only have to go through a QR code to see the menu but also need to sign up and join 'OTG' . So, you need to set up an account to order and pay! Ridiculous. A waitperson did come over and asked if we were having a problem and had a tablet, so there must be other ways to order (?) We were too deep into the sign up at that point. When the food arrived we were more than pleased. The quality was excellent, and the portions were quite adequate. We shared a salad, and I had a rigatoni that was delicious. Fresh pasta and well dressed with sauce. My other half had a chicken parmesan sandwich. We had a glass of wine, Merlot, at $15. each. The entire bill came to $110. We had about an hour to kill at Terminal 5 in JFK and decided to sit down and get some lunch. I was with my mom and my four-year-old, so we figured the more fenced in, the better, and opted to eat at AeroNuova. It was about as bad as expected, maybe a little bit worse. Service was terrible, slow and inattentive. It took about twenty minutes to get our food, which we ordered through my phone. A long time for what it was, and also pretty leisurely for an airport restaurant. I think the only times we saw AeroNuova employees were when we were seated and when our food arrived. We had no opportunities to ask for anything else. The food was okay by airport standards. We shared spaghetti and meatballs, a chicken parm sandwich, and a margherita pizza. The meatballs and chicken were dry, the pasta sauce thin and sour, but everything was edible and the pizza was actually kind of satisfying. I've had worse food within JFK. I have no desire to go back to AeroNuova, but I will if I find myself in similar circumstances again, with children to feed and an abundance of time. Julie seated us right away. You scan the bar code and order with your credit card. Our water was brought over right away. The calamari was better than most restaurants that I have had it before. Not oily and the spicy peppers were a nice addition. The margarita pizza was fair. Not bad, not amazing. Could have been hotter with the addition of spices to flavor it up. Pretty basic Italian eatery. Service is good. Wines are severely overpriced ($27 a glass, seriously?) and the glass I got was not good (as in they have kept the bottle open for too long and the wine was not fresh). Their food is ok but you cannot even get a side salad. Very inflexible for the high price you pay. Would not recommend unless (like me) you have a very long layover at JFK and nothing else to do. When we first sat down, we were the only customers so we thought we would be served relatively fast. Service was very slow. The pizza needed more sauce and more cheese. My partner and I were delayed on a flight with a mechanical issue and went here when we were told at Caribbean Kitchen that they weren't open yet. A very friendly waiter of Asian descent seated us with the advice that there was still 5 minutes to go before the kitchen was open. My partner is a big pasta fan, and I just wanted to sit down somewhere that wasn't a bar and eat something that wasn't out of a plastic box. She ordered some type of spaghetti: She was deciding between three pastas with tomato sauce. I got the burrata with mostarda and grilled bread--whatever didn't sound too carb-y that wasn't a salad. Her plate came first (I'd have preferred our plates come out at the same time, but we weren't given the option). My burrata was nice and luscious, and my partner liked her spaghetti. We got metal forks but the knives were plastic: I'd have preferred being asked whether we needed the latter in the first place, they are a real waste. Maybe serve metal ones in plastic sleeves if you're trying to cut down on dishwashing labor? My waiter took back our straws with gratitude when we gave them back as we left: These should definitely be optional at this point in history. Sitting down and being fed away from fellow passengers, having the time to enjoy ourselves can't be underestimated. This may turn into our default go-to when we're at Terminal 5 in JFK: Deep Blue Sushi I'm sure is decent, but it makes no sense to serve raw tuna and cooked shrimp when they're all overfished at this point. read more

The food was good here, but the service has an odd setup and could be much better. There are multiple sit down restaurants next to each other in the main hall of Terminal 5. You see a host to be seated, and they ask which restaurant you want. Then once you are seated you need to scan a QR code to order. There isn't an alternative visible if you don't have a smartphone or don't want to setup an account to pay. You order and pay online, then servers bring your food. I was brought the wrong order at first, pasta instead of pizza. (I think they had the wrong table.) When my margarita pizza arrived, it was quite good. Given that a single slice at the food court is $7, a whole mini pizza for $18 seems like a better deal. I also had lemonade, which wasn't great. When you're done, you are supposed to close your tab online. It could be easier to be sure you've done this right. It doesn't provide clear confirmation of a closed tab. They could really improve service here. The food is good, but the service is confusing and not great for the price point. read more

It honestly kind of sucks to be giving this place a low rating because Aeronuova used to be my go-to for food in Terminal 5 at JFK. It's been probably 2 years since I was last here and it feels like things have gone downhill in terms of how they run this place. My biggest problem is how it takes 30mins to crank out a pretty average breakfast at an airport restaurant. This place definitely won't work for those trying to catch a flight in an hour or so with how slow things go here. Service was actually pretty friendly but the sad part is how management can pretty much make one lady work the entire front staff service, from seating to serving to getting the bill and to cleaning tables... like I never saw one other person doing the job. Kudos to the lady juggling all those things but management needs to just hire more people. And it's not like they aren't getting business... in fact they had to turn away people from how backed up they were in flipping tables. Food-wise, it also was very average. This was my first time trying their breakfast, which would be a hard pass for me in the future here. Can't comment on the lunch dishes, which I've enjoyed in the past but don't know if that's also gone downhill since. I never want to settle for a mediocre to-go sandwich but that honestly would be a better pick than trying to eat here if you're in a hurry. More pricey than it should be probably because it's in an airport terminal. Ordered a Caesar salad & margarita pizza. Pizza was ok, not bad. The salad, which is one of their "most popular" items has old lettuce that was quite brown along the spines of the leaves. I took a couple of bites before I realized it and sent it back. Flavor was ok, croutons looked like basic Sysco fair, nothing special. When I returned the salad, the wait staff person tried hard to get me to switch to another salad or a dessert. It felt like pushback so a refund wouldn't have to be issued. Ambiance was about as good as could be expected with seating in the middle of the terminal foot traffic. Refunds for items sent back don't happen right away, you have to request on web page app and it takes a couple of days to receive it. read more

I know it's "airport food" but you have a certain expectation when choosing a sit down restaurant over a quick service one. $70 got a bottle of water, 6 mozzarella sticks, carbonara, and a chicken parm sandwich. Mozz sticks had no pull, tasted like cheddar cheese and I'd put money on the fact that they were microwaved. Props to the kitchen for trying to make it look fancy by putting the sticks on 10 pieces of arugula LOL but the fancy-ness was offset by the plastic to go cup holding the marinara. Carbonara was eggy, no salt, and definitely not pancetta. Sandwich was the funniest part, I was thinking to myself - why is only one side of the chicken breaded? It's because it was cut in half which means it was definitely not breaded in house. So a half breast... cut in half. Oh and one wilted basil leaf - for fancy-ness. Not bad for airport food! My husband and I had a layover in NY for 5 hours and contemplated leaving the airport to get some good pizza and Italian food. We decided not to go through the hassle of going through security again so we opted for something in the airport. After looking through Yelp and finding terrible reviews, we decided to try this place! Let me tell you the Bucatini Carbonara was awesome! Didn't love the bread that the chicken Parm sandwich came on and the meatballs weren't the best but it was better than we expected. First off, let me preface this by saying I'm not big on airport food. Nor do I typically have high expectations due to previous lackluster experiences. This place was an unexpected surprise! The service was great. The staff was very attentive and prompt in delivering any of my requests. I started with the garlic cheese bread which had big chunks of garlic (sorry passenger who has to sit next to me on the next leg of my flight!) and hot out of the oven melted cheese. Delightful! Next I had the Caesar salad which was nothing special except I was so happy with the freshness of the produce! The dressing was a traditional Caesar dressing. I finished with a meatball sandwich. The meatballs were made with veal & beef and were topped with a nice marinara and melted mozzarella cheese. If your travels bring you to JFK, and you've got time to enjoy a meal, I highly recommend AeroNuova! read more

This place is absolutely filthy, with dirty tables, dirty ripped seats and peeling wall paper. If this is the level of effort put into the customer facing side, I can only imagine the condition of the kitchen. I observed no attempt at even basic cleaning protocols between customers, which may not even be legal in NYC right now, so if COVID is a concern then avoid this place. Got tom the airport early this morning so had some time for breakfast. This is a sit yourself establishment so I grabbed a table. Our server was very friendly and took my order right away. Coffee, OJ, and Eggs Benedict. They arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The coffee was good but I prefer a strong cup. The OJ was very tasty. The Eggs Benedict was good but I found the hollandaise sauce very weak. Also came with a side of tater tots which was odd. Maybe Sonic owns this establishment. Tots were tasty though. read more

Writing this review as I currently wait for an hour delayed flight back to my hometown, Vegas. First impression, the staff seems very inattentive. There was only 1 bartender working at the time, who seemed to be the only waiter who was actually interested in helping anyone. I chose a seat at the bar & it was a good 10 minutes before I could get someone's attention to even be served a cocktail. I received my order of the bucatini carbonara about 10 minutes later. The wait for the pasta & food itself is what made their rating a bit higher than just a single star. The pasta was a bit bland, but after adding a heavy hand of salt, I was impressed & the meal definitely made me full. Will I come back here to dine when I come back to JFK in the future? Having arrived early for our flight to Cancún at the Jet Blue terminal (JFK), we stopped by this place for breakfast. During the day, they served Italian cuisine , but at breakfast they called themselves Piazza serving American breakfast. The decor is contemporary just outside to all the gates right after TSA screening. I had ordered the farmer omelette consisting of egg white, asparagus, chicken sausage and mushroom with a side of home fries and a biscuit. For food found at an airport, I was very much pleased. AeroNuova is just one of five restaurants in the JetBlue terminal located at the JFK Airport. That being said, it is a sit down restaurant, so for when you have time to stroll, this makes for a perfect call. Boyfriend and I decided on this restaurant and were sat right away. There are tables both in the restaurant itself and the area outside of it. We sat inside and the waiter came to take our order. Prices there are a bit steep for a bowl of pasta, but the portions are reasonable and you're at an airport. That in itself is not exactly cheap. I had the rigatoni bolognese, while my boyfriend had the orecchiette pasta. Both meals were delicious and quite filling. We accompanied our meals with glasses of wine to celebrate the end of a wondrous weekend getaway. He had a red wine, a Sauvignon, I believe, while I had some Prosecco. Both were hits and we were happy. Unfortunately at the end of all this, I accidentally spilled some water on the floor. I felt terrible as I'm not normally such a klutz. The waiter was on top of that like Speedy Gonzalez. He took care of everything. I was so embarrassed, but he made me feel better about the situation. Our server is running around trying to serve everyone and there are a forum of employees hanging around chatting at the front desk. My waiter had to ask someone 3 times to take my cash payment and I also had to ask. People are complaining left and right about cold food and bad service.
