I never EVER yelp and try not to drag a business down. I know it's hard out there especially in NYC, but I just got the MOST PATHETIC slice I've ever had. $4 for a barely cooked Dorito sized slice. Literally. This thing measured 4 inches across the top and was literally smaller than one of those Manhattan dollar slices. I came here and had the pizza and it was good. It reminded me of the old school pizza I was raised on. It is a great spot to stop at to eat a slice. Cannot say enough nice things about elegante pizza. The owner and staff, such friendly people!!! We did a field trip with our 3K and prek students and they took us 9:30 am, set up tables and chairs for all the kids with dough, sauce and cheese as well as they let them all bring aprons home. Friendly staff. Nice and clean looking place. Garlic knot crust pizza was very good. Dry wings (with sauce on side) were just ok. We were the only customers and service was a little slow. Elegante is in a great location, a block away from the beach and a couple blocks away from the train station. I called and placed an order for pick up. I ordered one large cheese pie $20.00 , large pie 1/2 cheese 1/2 pepperoni $24-20 and 12 BBQ Wings $15.00. I was told my order would be ready within 30mins. I got there in 20mins. The pizza was ready. When we arrived at my friend house , the pizza was warm in the middle but hard along the edges. The wings were crispy but too much sauce. I use to love the food from this place however lately I've been very disappointed. Stuff shells was my favorite dish and the last few times I ordered it was undercooked and the sauce tasted like actual pizza sauce and the ricotta had no flavor before they use to season it. Today I thought ok I will try their Tracy salad it was so disappointing I definitely did not get all the fixing as described in the menu the lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber was cut into big chunks like no one cared to cut up the veggies they just took a knife cut here and there and throw it the bowl. I just found out that this restaurant is charging a " Processing Fee" for orders paid with cash. It's one thing to charge a processing or service charge for credit/debit card purchases but to charge a processing fee for cash is nothing less than THEFT. I also think they did this because my son is a young teen and wouldn't question the charge. I noticed it when he came home with the receipt. After moving from New York 18 years ago my wife and I have missed New York pizza bad. We've gone to many New York style pizza places and none of them compared. When we got back we asked the family where to go and they all said to go straight to elegante and we were glad we did! The pizza was everything we missed about New York pizza. I've been living out in Rockaway for 20+ years and I have been a faithful customer of Elegante since I'm out here I will never step foot into this restaurant again. Since they've changed owners, the service and the quality have gone straight downhill. today was the icing on the cake. I ordered my usual sausage and pepperoni personal pie would usually cost between 10 and $12. When I first started ordering from them it used to be seven dollars I understand food prices have gone up etc. etc. when the gentleman at the register told me $23 for the same pie that I've been getting for the past 20 years, he said oh you had sausage and pepperoni on it I said yeah and it never cost me $23. they brought the price down to $16 that was the last $16 I will ever give to this restaurant.Rant over,time to look elsewhere for my pizza!!! I should add that I usually order a dish and an order of fried calamari for my wife as well the bill is usually 35-45 dollars so figure 2x a month (on average) that's 80-90 dollars a month that will go somewhere else. read more

On a Thurs I thought I ordered pick-up in Rockaway where I live. When I arrived at 10 o'clock the Rockaway location was locked up and closed. I could only call Slice - not the restaurant directly. They told me the only option was to go to Brooklyn and get the $30 pizza. No delivery was possible, no credit nothing. I ended up paying $30 for a pizza I never received, wow. I decided to take my summer Friday and hit Rockaway Beach. I was enjoying some nice views/water when the trifecta hit me- that being hunger, tiredness, and the need to charge my phone because it was about to croak on me. Luckily Elegante served all those needs well. They are one of the only places that accepts credit cards (plus). They had a plug right by the entrance so you can sit and take in some scenery and charge the phone (plus). The service was also very nice and they bring the food to you after you order and you pay at the end. As for the food itself-I have to admit I wasn't a super big fan of the grandmas pizza, it needed an extra minute in the oven. The cheese pizza was divine though. The perfect ratio of perfectly baked cheese to sauce, greasy but not too greasy, the French fries were crispy and wonderful. And they had Mountain Dew Baja Blast. 5/5 will go again read more
