We were back home to NYC for an event and staying at an AirBnB in Howard Beach. The owner suggested Gino's. And we went there immediately for lunch because we were dying for NYC pizza. Gino's did not disappoint. We got a small plate of bruschetta and cheese bread the minute we sat down, courtesy of the house. We got the special pizza that had meatballs, sausage, pepperoni, roasted red peppers, and mushrooms. We also got an order of spumoni. The 12-in pizza was more than enough for two people and filled with all the ingredients listed. I like sauce on my pizza, so I asked for a little extra on the side and it was so good I could have sucked it down without the pizza, which was hot and delicious! The small spumoni was a half scoop each of strawberry, chocolate, and pistachio ice cream. Not the official spumoni roll that I expected. The place was very packed and kind of noisy. The one thing that was noticeably lacking was the service. While it was efficient and fast there was no cordiality, it was just perfunctuary (no smiles, no kind words, nothing). Despite this, we would definitely recommend the restaurant because the pizza was excellent. We also welcomed the 20% lunch discount on the food. I am enamored with Marsala wine sauce, only wish to withhold the mushrooms and the sauce is not thick as I hoped. I intensely dislike mushrooms of any type, but oddly like Marsala wine sauce. Tiramisu - topped with abundant whipped cream as I prefer without but the actual cake is delicious. Customer service is very hospitable, warm, friendly and welcoming making my milestone birthday memorable conspicuous devoid of my beloved family members. My good friend / neighbor has been patronizing Gino's Pizzeria for decades with her family. Price is reasonable and business cards are available for grabs. I ordered an order of wings, fries and a pepperoni pie. Although the food was cold, it was still good. I'd still rate the food a 5/5. The delivery service is my rating of 0/5. Upon arrival, the driver said that because I was using Apple Pay to pay for my order (which I've done this before) he was charging an extra $3 on top of the delivery fee we already paid for and the tip I was giving. He was also asking for more tip after I had already given more. I personally think he was pocketing the extra $3 as a tip without me or the restaurant knowing. I brought this to the attention of the pizzeria when I called to verify that there is no extra fee to use Apple Pay. The woman apologized and said she'd notify upper management. The driver's name was Joel Martinez which I also relayed to the restaurant in which they said we could "ask to not have that delivery driver next time." I honestly expected some return call / refund of this extra fee but have not heard from anyone since then. It was ordered on Tuesday, 9/2/25. I'm happy to edit my review if I feel like it gets resolved in terms of service but other than that, if you're going to order for delivery, I recommend specifically to ask to not have this driver. read more

I've been coming to Gino's for decades. Literally decades. Way before the remodel. Way before they took over the second storefront. Easily 30ish years. Lately their food has been on a downhill spiral. Let me start off with this. The service is always great. Sinead and the others are great waiters. The kitchen staff pleasant as are the bus boys. The food. First off the complementary bruschetta used to be really damn good. The tomato mixture itself is delicious and flavorful. However lately they serve it on super stale bread hoping the juices will soften it up and mask the use of old bread. Here is a hint. It doesn't. This has happened lately on a regular basis. Fried calamari. Good. Freshly fried. Oil they use isn't old. It's fresh and hot. Sauce served with it is very good also. The entrees. My dad religiously gets the rib eye steak. Medium rare. The last few times the steak itself has been inedible and served with almost half the steak being a massive portion of fat. The temperature at which the steak is served is always off also. Medium rare will get you medium well sometimes. This time it was rare. I like a damn good rare steak. This steak however was not even remotely cooked right. Mom ordered angel hair seafood pasta. She got penne. Didn't want to send it back as it took us over an hour to receive our entrees and my kids had school the next day. Wife ordered some vegetable pasta with shrimp. No shrimp were to be found. I ordered the veal sorentino (spelling?). Consisted of veal with prosciutto, fried eggplant tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella cheese then broiled to melt the cheese. Veal was super chewy and not at all tenderized. The prosciutto was not bedy good and the eggplant tasted old. My dad looks forward to this place but after today and the $250.00 price tag for lackluster food he swore never again would he return. Last straw that broke the camels back. I cook carbonara at home. Fresh egg yolks, parm cheese, salt, pasta water. Fresh cracked pepper. Slab Bacon or pancetta if you have it. NEVER CREAM. My kids ordered carbonara. They look at this linguini and say dad what's that? We ordered carbonara. I hate to say I've raised little fancy foodies but this pasta was terrible. They refused to eat it. Sorry Gino's. Omg let me just say, every part of the pizza is the best I've ever had. We got a large cheese. The crust was perfectly thin and cooked crispy crunch. The sauce was so flavorful ( so many pizzas I feel they don't bother making the sauce have flavor, just taste like tomato sauce ) but I can tell they take time to make the sauce have flavor. And the cheese was amazing. You can tell they don't use cheap ingredients. The cheese stretched forever lol. They were so nice in there and it has such a nice vibe . I really loved their old time cash register too. Service was amazing and friendly. This is the old school pizzeria in the HB and despite the name, Joe is the owner and he's got one of the best pizzerias and restaurants in the HB for certain and I will even go as far to say in Queens. From his chicken Cesar salad slice that I have yet to find better in the 5 boroughs to a chicken scarpariello dish that I still try and make for my family because it's one of the best Joe and his family work together and his staff is like family because they have been together for 30 years! When ordering over the phone ? Not such a good idea, I placed an order, told the girl 3 times what I wanted, I went to pick it up, wrong, mind u I told her three times .. I call bk, same girl answered, I called bk 45 min later asked where my delivery was, another girl gets on the phone asked me what my ticket number was from the previous order, then she starts reading me off. What's on my new order I said that's not my order and wouldn't you know they deliver it and it was the wrong order yet once again, the problem is nobody listens and then tell you that you're wrong because it's what you said, I know what I ordered the first time and the second time. Came tonight to visit Gino's, it's always one of my go to places in Howard Beach. Excellent staff and excellent food. The waiter gave us extra bread when we asked and took our orders pretty quickly. My boyfriend raved about this place but him and I don't have the same taste for things lol. Restaurant was very big seemed very busy on the walk in so I was sure I was gonna be in love with the pizza but not quite. I tried the grandma slice and a white slice. The grandma slice was lacking salt and flavor overall I added chili flakes and garlic and that's all I felt I was eating texture was good it looked good but I really wasn't feeling it much. The white slice same no flavor and the crust and breading had a burnt taste to it which didn't make it better. As I looked around though everyone else was enjoying family style dishes so maybe pizza isn't their strength and actual pasta dishes are. The service was good welcoming and friendly. read more

I have to say I'm impressed! I have tried tons of places looking for the best pizza and decided to give Gino's a try last night. I must admit that I was starving when the pizza arrived and ate the Grandma slice and the Sicilian slice. The sauce is delicious and the dough has a great taste and consistency. So I just received my order via UberEats for the Shrimp Parm with pasta and these shrimp must be pre cooked or just over cooked and they cannot be the same size shrimp or quality that you guys serve inside for seated guest. It is sad when you have to smother the main item with sauce, breading and cheese all to bite down into a tiny overcooked shrimp that's also not clean. I've ordered from here a few times and it never disappoints, this time I ordered the cavatelli campagnola which is a pasta with broccoli rabe and sausage in a garlic sun dried tomato and oil sauce , I added chicken because I assumed it was going to be ground pork and not a lot but honestly the pasta had a lot of sausage a lot of garlic , basically alot of everything I love so I found it to be delicious!
