Welp Yelp, hereee we go...
When they gave us the boat, the table was wobbly and seemed as if it was going to fall over the minute we got on the boat. Didn't want to make a fuss about it so just let it be. Well, low and behold mid cruise, our charcutteri board comes crashing down all over the boat. Guess why? The table fell over! After looking under the table, we noticed there was 1 measly screw (supposed to be 4) that was laying on the ground and this was the only thing holding up the table. Of course its going to fall out, as the table is designed to have four, and the boat place should have repaired this before renting out their equipment. We as the customer pay top dollar to rent equipment from companies, and the least they could do is ensure everything is in working order before renting it out time after time. If this place wasn't run by a bunch of 13-15 year olds, then my guess is that it would have been maintained, so that it did not have to be repaired. As a result of the table falling and the charcuttieri board (with all of our decadent meats, olives, cheeses, honey and figs) crashing down, the floor of the boat was messy. Not the prettiest site as all of that precious cargo was pricey to say the least, and was a pretty sweet array of delectable that unfortunately did not get eaten. Moral of the story, when we got back, of the course the Owner immediately went ballistic about the table being broken and their being food on the floor (tried to scoop up as much as we could and throw it overboard, but figured hosing it down, like they were going to do anyway, was the preferred option as we didn't want to spend our entire hour cleaning up foods that we paid for on a boat that we paid for.) Back to my story, Owner went ballistic, starting yelling at all of us on board (literally cussing at us, calling us names in Russian I think it was? and using profanity) and telling us she was going to charge us $380 for the mess and table. Uh what? The table was broken before we got on the boat! So much for being Mr nice guy and just letting it go in the beginning, not wanting to make a fuss LOL. Lesson Learned!
Back to the Owner. She was beyond disrespectful and the words/phrases she was using while insulting us was absolutely unacceptable. All of the folks waiting in line for a Duffy were extremely surprised seeing how the Owner treated paying customers. I believe a few of them even cancelled their reservations because they figured they would charged if they simply spilled a water on the boat! This Owner was so unprofessional, she absolutely should not be running a hospitality business. I have videos of her cussing us out that I would love to post, but I am not going to stoop to her level and post them here (unless she tries to rebuttal this review, then I most definitely will be posting all 4 of the minute long videos of her cussing out our entire group..).
In the end, she wanted to charge us $380 for the table and a cleaning fee. The entire boat trip was like $300! How is that even fair? You could CLEARLY see there was only ONE screw that WE saved for her to reconnect the table. The other 3 were simply non-existent. If she was going to charge me $380, I simply wanted a receipt so I could rebut the fee and deal with it later, not on my Saturday day off. Well, of course she wouldn't provide me a receipt. That is the law, and she would not do it. I found that unbelievable. Finally after a pain staking argument back and forth (exactly what I was trying to avoid) We agreed to pay $100 cleaning fee for the charcutteri board cleanup. Which was still not acceptable at all since it was her equipment that made the charcutteri board fall in the first place. We even offered to hose the boat down for her (Since that's all she had to do and was going to do anyway) and she got so upset, her head almost exploded. We agreed to pay the $100 just so we could get my card back and get out of this hell hole. Funny thing, she wouldn't even give me a receipt for the $100 charge! I was speechless and did not even know what else to say. Finally, I got my card back (which is probably against the law for her to hold captive i'm guessing?) and we got the heck outta there, never to return again.
This was supposed to be a fun, relaxing putt around the ocean but it turned into a nightmare because of how unreasonable the Owner was and her lack of understanding on why she should be maintaining the equipment she rents out. Very unfortunate. Wish her all the best, but really do hope that she learns to respect the customer, the person that is paying her bills and keeping her business afloat during these crazy times.
Moral of the story, go elsewhere if you have a choice. Highly recommend paying a few bucks more (probably don't even have to) to go elsewhere, there are tons of these places and they actually respect the customer and appreciate the business.
Welp Yelp, that's all! Till next time!! (well not here obviously) read more
