I love Duffy's! It is so fun and eclectic. The outdoor patio is amazing and has a river view. The food was excellent with big portions. It was a little pricey but everything is made from scratch. You need to call and make reservations! Service was top notch.

View off back deck. Not a house in site, mountains everywhere.

This place is awesome! Food is very good, of the made from scratch variety. Good beers. Great, friendly service. And the way this place is done up makes you feel like you really walked into a small pub on the countryside in Ireland. The outside patio is great too, weather permitting of course.

I love Duffy's, The whole place is just a great experience, The pub is owned by a husband and wife, who run it by themselves I stopped by with my boyfriend one day while we were driving through and decided to have lunch it was the best experience ever, we weren't aware that you needed to call to make reservations and kind of brought a big party table for she was able to accommodate us and who is super friendly. The second time we went was for my birthday October 30 I had called prior to make reservations as she had mentioned that the previous time we went, we brought about eight people and it was the best atmosphere she was so friendly and accommodating. The food was amazing!!! the drinks were amazing!!! the food is more then what you'd expect because it's freshly made that day!! the plates are huge!!! it's Homestyle cooking so you do need to let her know if you're allergic to anything, also called before if you're going to eat!!! I'll be going back many times!

Explaining why this place works is like trying to explain how Ron Jeremy ever had a career. "Quirky" just doesn't quite do it justice. It comes dangerously close to the hipster line without going over. This place is really in the middle of nowhere but when I passed by it the first time I noticed the wood stacked on the front porch and a sign advertising a Turkey dinner for Thanksgiving. Since then the girlfriend and I have stopped in at least a half dozen times when passing by and we've never been disappointed. Rarely is there more than a couple people here when we've stopped in during the winter months (favorite time to stop by). Normally the conversation between regulars centers on elk hunting and fishing reports. Every time I've been here it's been the same waitress who is friendly in a non cloying kind of way and seems to actually remember us. I would describe the food as "comfort food" and consider it above average. They take pride in whatever is made fresh that day and I usually follow their lead. The pie (homemade) and ice cream has never let us down and I consider it a fair price. While the deck looks nice (right on the river) we almost always stop here in the middle of winter so we've never had a meal outside. That brings me to my favorite part...all that wood stacked on the front porch is for the big ass wood burning stove that sits in the corner. During the winter that thing is nearly red hot and just waiting for a toddler to erase all of their fingerprints. I give them at least one extra star for having the balls to leave that bad boy out there without any kind of a guard rail. My tip of the day? When its cold and rainy the round table right behind the stove is the best spot in the house. Oh, and pie...always go for the pie.

What's for lunch?? Linguica, butter beans & dirty rice! Yum!

We stopped here last Saturday afternoon, just on a whim, to take a picture of their sign (my husband's cousin's maiden name is Duffy). We talked with the waitress for a few moments and quickly decided this might be a great place to stop for a late lunch on our way home. The day was clear and warm, so we enjoyed our lunch on Duffy's back deck, which overlooks the Grays River. Lovely! We shared an order of linguica sausage, butter beans and dirty rice - and totally enjoyed the shrimp in the dirty rice, the little extras on the plate (large, thin slices of raw zucchini, sliced Asian pear, tomato, a single lovely spear of asparagus, along with the standard garnish of a large radish rose in a lettuce cup. All was lovingly arranged on the plate, and was just as tasty as it was beautiful. The portions here are large - so it was easy for us to share one plate and go away full and happy. We'll definitely eat here again!

We are locals & stopped by when they first opened. Were very rude to us once they knew we were locals. Have not been back since.

It's not big...less than a dozen tables inside, there is outdoor seating, and when the weather is nice I bet it's a great place to be on a warm summer evening. Right on the water, with views of the boats. Ilwaco itself is a bit of a dungy town, but this place offers some delicious dishes, and the ambience is cozy, & romantic. We were immediately seated, as we were the only ones at the restaurant on this cold, wet PNW day. We both ordered a cup of their crab bisque. Delicious. It really hit the spot, and warmed up our cold bones. What I really liked about it was it wasn't too salty! Both my husband and I added a bit of salt and that elevated the flavor, but I liked that the chef didn't over salt it, and gave me the choice of how much sodium I wanted to add. My husband wished he had ordered a bowl. It is delightful, flavorful and a decent amount of crab in it, as well. (I enjoyed it so much, I forgot to take a picture of it!!) The chef really knows his stuff and has a great flavor profile on the menu. My husband ordered the Helm Burger with tots. He gave them two thumbs up. The burger patty looked fresh homemade, as opposed to frozen bought at Costco. It was a decent size, & thick and juicy. With the addition of bacon to it, he was greatly satisfied. I ordered the Deckhand. Let me tell you, this was a delicious sandwich! The pork is tender and juicy, the sauce is sweet but not overly so. The picked added a wonderful crispy texture along with the sweetness of the caramelized onions....it was a tastebud explosion. So good. And so filling. I had to take 1/2 home and was a bit annoyed when I found my husband ate it the next day for lunch! I guess that just means I'll have to go back sooner than later to order it again. I'd like to also mention that the tater tots were perfectly fried and crispy! The waitress from friendly and attentive and the chef was sweet and so pleased with our compliments. Don't wait a moment longer. Get yourself to Ilwaco and check this gem of a place out! You won't be disappointed.

Now, weeds growing up through the patio and paint peeling off the doors are what first greet you. Followed by a greeting of "sit anywhere", and so you choose a clean table that doesn't have the chairs leaned up against the table. Ordered from the over priced menu. Burger served over done, cheese cold - not melted. Shrimp had some strange oily sauce that was not the advertised lemon garlic. View of the harbor is still good, but not worth $100 for a barely edible lunch. Very sad.

I'll start this review off by saying that I love Cathlamet. It's a quaint little historic town…read morewith a rich history and really nice people. I've been visiting here a dozen times a year for four decades. There are a few eateries here. Many seem to come and go although there are a couple that have survived the test of time. RM38 is a newcomer... used to be in a small building with VERY limited hours. I gather their main biz was brewing craft beer for a very small clientele of businesses and the "saloon" was mostly a side hustle to help pay the rent. So I see they moved into new digs down at the marina. I won't take off any stars for the following since this seems to be their new business model: Offering uber-expensive, skimpy portions of not especially tasty food targeted to yuppies who have more money than brains. Suffice to say that you won't see many Bikers hanging out here. The good: Their patio has a nice river view and a pleasant breeze. Sitting out there enjoying a cold one on a hot Summer day is very pleasant. And during the Fall too so long as it's not raining. People complain about the lack of parking which is not an issue when you show up on a motorcycle. But there are LOTS of places to park although you may have to walk a few yards... you poor darlings. Staff is less than amazing but they are always courteous towards me. I suppose I am no more their dream customer than they are my dream hangout. But Bikers tend to be very generous tippers so they might want to keep that in mind. There's one long-established watering hole in Cathlamet but it's a dark, indoor venue. I like it there and it's more of a dive bar with very good food. The thing about Cathlamet is that if you are just an occasional visitor you have many options of where to stop for a meal and/or drink and never get bored. There's also a few good places at the other end of the ferry ride in Westport, Oregon. Hard to say how long RM38 will stay in business. I'm actually surprised that they lasted in their original location for so long considering that they were only open for a few hours during the weekend. It would be great if they quit pretending to be an upscale eatery and instead focused on providing a good value, tasty, filling meal for the money. Again, no minus stars for that but until new management comes along and makes some changes it will just be a pint or two for me and i'm on my way. Of course as always YMMV.
