This review is for the pub food. We have not stayed at the hotel, so I can't report how the rooms are. The pub/restaurant is excellent. It's not big...less than a dozen tables inside, there is outdoor seating, and when the weather is nice I bet it's a great place to be on a warm summer evening. Right on the water, with views of the boats. Ilwaco itself is a bit of a dungy town, but this place offers some delicious dishes, and the ambience is cozy, & romantic. We were immediately seated, as we were the only ones at the restaurant on this cold, wet PNW day. We both ordered a cup of their crab bisque. Delicious. It really hit the spot, and warmed up our cold bones. What I really liked about it was it wasn't too salty! Both my husband and I added a bit of salt and that elevated the flavor, but I liked that the chef didn't over salt it, and gave me the choice of how much sodium I wanted to add. My husband wished he had ordered a bowl. It is delightful, flavorful and a decent amount of crab in it, as well. (I enjoyed it so much, I forgot to take a picture of it!!) The chef really knows his stuff and has a great flavor profile on the menu. My husband ordered the Helm Burger with tots. He gave them two thumbs up. The burger patty looked fresh homemade, as opposed to frozen bought at Costco. It was a decent size, & thick and juicy. With the addition of bacon to it, he was greatly satisfied. I ordered the Deckhand. Let me tell you, this was a delicious sandwich! The pork is tender and juicy, the sauce is sweet but not overly so. The picked added a wonderful crispy texture along with the sweetness of the caramelized onions....it was a tastebud explosion. So good. And so filling. I had to take 1/2 home and was a bit annoyed when I found my husband ate it the next day for lunch! I guess that just means I'll have to go back sooner than later to order it again. I'd like to also mention that the tater tots were perfectly fried and crispy! The waitress from friendly and attentive and the chef was sweet and so pleased with our compliments. Don't wait a moment longer. Get yourself to Ilwaco and check this gem of a place out! You won't be disappointed. read more

The atmosphere is really lively and cozy. Doesn't feel overwhelming though. The food was absolutely amazing! I had the highliner sandwich and from the first bite i knew id be coming back to this restaurant. My boyfriend had the mac and cheese with crab in it and I can confirm we both thought it was amazing. Its so hard to find good food on the peninsula, but this place ranks #1 in my books. The staff was also very kind! They were always checking on us and made sure we had what we needed. Even though they were swamped and It took a little bit to get food, it was extremely worth it. You didnt even know you were waiting so long because you staff were sooo kind, the atmosphere was soo peaceful. I could have sat in there forevor. And when the food came, its worth the wait!!! read more

We decided to drop by for an early dinner this last weekend (10/24) - getting there a little after 4pm we were first in the dining room. Very prompt friendly service, glasses of ice water (no straws - AWESOME), and wow, what a great little menu! Something for everyone. Listen closely to the fresh catch of the day, and you can order that fish with many dishes. I started with a bowl of the crab bisque, served with a side of tasty garlic bread. OMG this was the best! Next time I go in I'm a gonna bust into the kitchen and demand the recipe. I had the ling cod grilled, served on the 'big salad'- the Waterline Cobb - oh what a tasty surprise - fresh avocado, grilled asparagus, and super-fresh greeens with a tasty bleu cheese dressing. I inhaled it all. My wife and son loved their entrees (fish and chips, and fork&knife melt). Great job on the 'green rating' just a couple of minor single-use plastics (those wretched plastic cups were used for the dressing) - would love to see those be swapped for the metal ones. Great atmosphere, and the sole waitress kept up with everything as the restaurant filled up, great service. Reasonable prices. Oh yeah, get the Rose Lemonade. Mmm hmm. Highly recommend, will be back. Oh, and I am the one that added this place to yelp, prior to this, it was combined with the hotel, which is a mistake (when you look for restaurants, the Waterline did NOT appear in search results). read more

Had some of the very best food on the peninsula!! This is super high end food at a reasonable price. I had a tuna Ruben and the calamari appetizer. The tuna Ruben was awesome with a very large severing of tuna and the calamari was some of the best I have ever had and generous serving. read more

Second time getting the mac&cheese and I love it!! Almost has that rich, "beer cheese" flavor to it. A visit to the area and stumbled upon the Waterline Pub. Great menu, friendly staff (Tara) was excellent and recommended a great cider! Food was delicious, we had the steamer clams. Watching the boats come back to the docks and all the fish people had caught on the charters was a plus for the experience. I'm so glad a very kind Long Beach restaurant staff member referred us to the Waterline Pub. Celebrating a friends birthday with our dogs on a sunny day and we wanted beer and cocktails! Waterline set up tables outside for us, brought us waters - both dogs and humans --and delish cocktails and beers. Everyone loved the fish tacos and I really enjoyed my huge turkey sandwich. This is a dandy little pub! Very laid-back, but friendly and inviting. Some great choices on the seafood-forward menu. We shared a bucket of clams and they were delicious, well-prepared, and served quickly. Some great craft cocktails available as well as a hand-full of craft beers on tap. Not a bad wine list either.
