What can I say about this place? When my husband and I first visited in April 2021 for our honeymoon, Duffy's was one of few places that was consistently open in Esperanza. Because of that, we spent a lot of our time eating (and drinking) there. It was always a great time! Great food/drinks, and the staff were enthusiastic, friendly, and provided really great service across the board! While looking for coffee one morning, we met the owners and discovered the wonder of their cold brew. Yes, the coffee was amazing, but the couple that runs Duffy's is an force of energy to be reckoned with! They value the hard work put in by their staff and are regularly on the floor, getting their hands dirty as well. They'll do whatever they can to ensure you have a great experience! Fast forward to April 2022, and we picked up right where we left off for our anniversary. Duffy's was our first stop after checking-in to our hotel. The island was noticeably more lively! People and music everywhere, but with all the charm we fell in love with the first time around! Over the next 9 days, we reconnected with the owners and formed new friendships with staff. My husband and I usually shared an arugula and mustard greens salad w/pecans, feta, tomatoes and onions and a sandwich. The tiger shark sandwich was pretty good. The spicy shrimp wrap was a bit too garlicky for us (that's just us though). They make excellent burgers and the Fish Tacos are great too. The restaurant is pretty busy during lunch and dinner. My party (3) went to Duffy's for lunch during our 3-day stay at Vieques since it was close to The Blok Hotel, right on "El Malecón". Service and staff were very nice and friendly, very attentive. They kicked it right off with offering us the special drinks and dishes of the day. Waiting time was no issue since our drinks and appetizers took 10-15 minutes. We had Nachos Grande for appetizers, which were very flavorful and crunchy. The chicken was very well seasoned, and the dish included some salsa sour cream, lettuce and refried beans. Very good for medium sized party. Our drinks were the day's special. At 4$ each, we had a mimosa and two Papi Smurfs, which was Piña Colada with Spicy Rum and Blue Curaçao. I had the Papi Smurf, which I considered had a great mix of flavor and great presentation. If you love spicy, I recommend the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, which had breaded chicken with bacon, tomato, red onion, lettuce, jalapeños, and spicy mayo served on a Kaiser Roll. This dish had great presentation and the spicy touch of the mayo and jalapeño made it super tasty. Chicken was well cooked, adequately seasoned, and lightly crisp. Veggies and Kaiser Roll were fresh. My friends had the white rice, red beans, and "tostones", one with pork chops and the other with Chicken "Canoa", which is a plantain filled up with chicken. The dishes had great presentation. The rice was soft but not mushy. The beans were very savory and, although my friends are used to different seasoning, found them very well cooked and tasty. The pork chops were very juicy, well seasoned, and thoroughly cooked. The canoa was very well seasoned and the plantain had great texture. Overall great experience at Duffy's. I recommend this place as a must-visit due to location, flavorful meals, and excellent service. read more

Duffy's is a great beach bar and for any beer fans, you will have a very good selection of microbrew (bottled) beers. In fact, there is no other place we found on the Malacon (or Vieques) that had any real beer choices. The food was actually pretty good in our opinion. Over the course of the few days we visited Vieques, we had the Burger, Mahi Mahi sandwich, cubano, two different salads and everything was always good (well above average for pub food). The bartenders we experienced were ok, but one stood out and really took care of us. He remembered that we liked glasses for our beers and always made sure we had a clean one for each beer. His name started with a "M" and he was Puerto Rican, we remember that. The bar is all open area, with nice views of the ocean and Malecon. We had lunch at Duffys and found the location and atmosphere charming. They grow their one greens so the salads are amazing. This is really a spot not to be missed. The view is spectacular and the beer is ice cold. We split a salad topped with grilled shrimp and a cubano sandwich, had a beer and several of their lemonades a concoction made of vodka lemons and cranberry juice. I picked Duffy's because there was quite a few people sitting there. I arrived alone and was seated rather quickly but took about 7 minutes before someone came and brought me water and checked on me. I believe it only happened because I made eye contact with my waiter. I ordered a Chicken Canoa and Curly fries and the canoa delicious.
