There is not a lot of options at night in this part of the island. Other establishments close earlier in the evening and this is the only one open even late at night. Located at Esperanza, by the sea, Lazy Jack's has a bar and regular tables/chairs. They have TVs on. Service was okay. It's a bar and it can be loud here. They have plenty of drinks to choose from; we did not have any. I did not have high expectations. I was starving and the food here was filling. Lazy Jacks burgers were huge $18 half-pound burgers with tomato, lettuce, red onion and pickle. They came with a side (french fries, tater tots, pasta salad, or coleslaw). On the two days we dined there at night, they did not serve coleslaw because they ran out of ingredients (their supply/shipment did not arrive yet). The burger did not have any sauce and was not flavorful but it was big and filling.

Four years later, we found ourselves back at Lazy Jack's - enjoying Lime Coladas and tasty tacos on the deck. A beautiful view of the water, excellent service and fantastic food and cocktails. Especially after a day of exploring the beaches, this is the perfect place to hang out and chill while watching incredible sunsets in Esperanza.

Thanksgiving day and my dad and I had no nowhere to eat before our kayak excursion, so our ride dropped us off here as we saw it was open. Seating is outside and also by the bar, and we were served very fast. We let our waiter know that we were in a hurry, and he recommended what I can only assume is their signature item, Da Big Fish and Chips. I did not have high hopes for this, but this was genuinely one of the best fried fish dishes I've ever had. The fish was perfectly tender, and the fry batter on the outside was even, hot and crispy. The fries were perfection. I personally did not love my painkiller, but I think I just don't really like orange juice lol. There is a restroom available on site. I don't know if I would recommend this if you were seeking incredibly authentic Puerto Rican food, but if you were seeking a good time with a beautiful view of the water, this seems like a good option in the Esperanza area. We also ordered drinks, a beer and a painkiller cocktail.

Excellent location in town! The drinks were fantastic, and the food was delicious. I really enjoyed my piña colada, and the fish tacos were amazing. Our server was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Service was kind and fast. Piña Colada was made fresh and tasted good. They serve food here too, but I didn't try it. Lazy Jack's is definitely a nice casual bar to stop by to get a drink on a hot day and enjoy the beach nearby.

The service and food were exceptional! Prices were decent and I loved the vibe of the place!

I was craving a burger on 4th of July and my husband got takeout for me from here. I got the veggie burger and Italian pasta salad on the side. My craving was fulfilled. The veggie patty had a crispy exterior and creamy interior. The pasta salad had cucumbers and olives in them which were great. My husband also said the service was impeccable, multiple staff members came up to him asking if he needed anything. They're also one of the only spots open past 8pm on the island.

We went to eat dinner here before heading out on a tour of the bioluminescent bay. It was an open-Aires restaurant. We got seated right away and our waitress was extremely kind. She was very attentive. While we waited for food we were able to people watch, see the water, and also watch the TVs. Our food and drinks came out quickly and everything was delicious. Our only complaint was that there was no dessert menu we would definitely go back!

Great atmosphere and friendly service. Downside is the food and drinks. Expensive for what you get and very little flavor.

It is a disgrace that one of the very few well-known restaurants in the south side of Vieques…read morechooses to employ people who are clearly more interested in demanding tip money than in providing a respectful customer experience. Tonight I dined at La Placita with a group of friends, and the experience was absolutely unacceptable. Our waitress, an older white woman, brought the check to the table and then stood over us while we were trying to pay, refusing to give us even a moment of privacy to review and complete the payment comfortably. The second she saw the tip amount selected on the card machine, she aggressively grabbed the device from the table and said, "¿En serio?" ("Really?") -- ironically, the only Spanish she spoke to our table all night. It was an incredibly rude, humiliating, and uncomfortable moment. We were still leaving a tip based on the options provided on the machine; it was not as if we had entered an insulting amount ourselves. That interaction completely ruined our evening and changed my entire perception of the restaurant. I asked to speak with the manager, Katy, another white woman, and her response was just as disappointing. She was dismissive from the moment she arrived, repeatedly responding with "okay" while I explained what had happened, showing absolutely no concern for the situation. At the end, all she offered was a generic apology, with no accountability and no genuine interest in addressing the behavior of her employee. What makes this even more upsetting is that I travel to Puerto Rico frequently and have consistently experienced the warmth, kindness, and appreciation of local Puerto Ricans, who are grateful for any tip given. To encounter this level of entitlement was shocking. This waitress made us feel pressured and judged, as if we were obligated to leave the highest tip option available regardless of the quality of service we actually received. Tipping should be voluntary and based on the service provided, not something customers are intimidated into giving. Honestly, if this waitress cannot treat customers with basic respect unless they leave the tip amount she expects, then she should not be working in a position where her paycheck depends on gratuities. Someone with that attitude toward customers belongs in a job with a fixed payroll salary somewhere else, not in hospitality. A server who openly shows anger and resentment over a tip has no business working in customer service. This was one of the most uncomfortable restaurant experiences I have had in Puerto Rico, and it is truly shameful that a place with such a good reputation would allow customers to be treated with this level of disrespect.
