Look, you're going to die someday. That day will come just a bit sooner if you eat regularly at Big Boss Hotlinks, but oh what a life you will have lived until then! I tried this truck for the first time today, and my doors are blown off and my socks have been knocked off! The lady at the window was super friendly, and not in a fake, awkward way, but in a genuine, "I love everyone" sort of way. Anyway, I ordered 'The Duke' special, which is a lot of stuff I like: beef, hotlinks, caramelized onions, cheese, and green chile on a hoagie roll. She took my money, and I waited, thinking this was probably a mistake. I hadn't heard much about the place, but it seemed like with all those components, some of the weaker ones would bring down the entire sandwich. Boy was I wrong. The beef was beautifully cooked, with just a bit of pink showing, the hotlinks were smokey and delicious, the onions were soft and plentiful, the green chile had heat, and the cheese tied it all together into a beautiful gooey mess on a soft and inviting roll. I needed the extra fork she provided, as I 'got nasty' with it, caring less and less about what proper eating etiquette is, and more and more about getting it into my mouth as soon as possible. I'm not going to lie to you - this is not health food. Not even close. In fact, there really isn't anything I'd consider 'healthy' on the entire menu. If you're looking for something green, you've come to the wrong place. This food truck's menu is a carnivore's paradise, and it's going to cause long-term problems, but you know what? I live in the short term. It's greasy and brown, and just amazing. This would be the ultimate hangover food if I were hung over, which might just be the best compliment I can give the place. We tried Big Boss Hotlinks at the Winrock Fest this weekend. The smell was definitely calling us! It was a nice evening with plenty of people to keep them busy. The order was out quick, despite the number of people, so they were ready to get things expedited. We ordered the Green Chile Cheeseburger with hot green chile, grilled onions, and a side of crinkle fries. One of the burgers was missing a chunk of the patty. The other burger had a good sized patty. We were quite hungry so we went right in. However, the first bite was disappointing with no flavor. We were waiting for the hot in the green chile, but it never landed. And the grilled onions were quite sparse, also not giving it much more flavor. The crinkle fries were crispy and had some salt. But they did not redeem the meal. Nevertheless, the combo was quite filling. Overall, the food never met the smell that attracted us to this truck or the high cost, leaving us with a full belly but no flavor to speak of. read more

DAMN!! That was good. It was one of those petite sensible burgers (as opposed to a giant ridiculous burger) and it was JUICY. And even though it was not ridiculous size, it was just right for me. I finished the burger and my fries and I didn't feel like I was about to go into a food coma. If you have a chance, get one! read more

I hit up the Big Boss Hotlinks food truck for the Sunday chicken teriyaki special at the Brew Lab 101 location in Rio Rancho. Very friendly & personable owner delivered the meal into the Brew Lab bar. Good service. Checkerboard paper lined basket cradled a generous pile of chicken thigh strips well drenched in teriyaki sauce riding atop a good size scoop of rice & salad with ginger dressing. Thigh meat was extremely tender & juicy. Teriyaki sauce was punchy with ginger & soy sauce saltiness countering a quite sweet front end flavor. Salad was shredded iceberg lettuce. Partial demerit for not blinging up the visuals with contrasting color ingredients (think julienne carrots, red cabbage, red lettuce, cucumber, etc). Ginger dressing was good, but not earth shatteringly different or complex from such coverage typically found in any number of Oriental eateries. Partial demerit for the rice arriving a bit drier than I'd expect. Maybe a good thing to better soak up the tasty teriyaki sauce, but to me a small disappointment. Rice is so neutral tasting (vis-a-vis the strength of meaty, roasty, or spiced/herbed flavors) that it's texture rises in importance. Thus, this rice was a bit off the mark. I went specifically to get the chicken teriyaki special today. It was the raison d'etre for my trip out, so Big Boss sandwiches were not even on the radar in spite of online pics of the BBH menu showing them roughly in the $10 range. So I was mildly surprised at the $15 ticket for the teriyaki basket, a hair over $16 after tax. Maybe I haven't eaten teriyaki in too long, but the price point felt a few bucks north of what a chicken teriyaki lunch has flown at for me historically, in spite of the high quality & generous portions of the food itself. Next BBH round I'm aiming to try the sandwiches since they not only look hyper tasty, but also fall closer to my frugal lunch pricing schedule. read more

I decided to try this place after seeing it on Facebook and since it's so close to me. I was not disappointed. My friend got the St. Helen's bowl and I got sandwich. This is a lot of food. The sandwich was big and I had to squish it to fit in my mouth. My friend loved her bowl and even had a little leftover. It was super yummy and I will go again. They are at the Brew Lab on Southern Tues-Sun. And I hear there is a teriyaki chicken special every Sunday that I plan to try next. read more

This is a food truck serving Seattle style hotdogs and links. You can look at their Facebook page to see where they are each day. Today it was parked in front of Canon on Jefferson street. The ordering process was easy and Diane was very friendly. She recommended the Rainer Dog and also said the Seatown cheesesteak was good.i opted for the Seatown cheesesteak. you do need the fork she gave to eat it. I had to add salt but I usually do with most cheesesteaks I buy. It was very filling. One thing I noted was that she said you could text the orders and they can have it ready for you. I thought that was a convenient service, especially for the call center employees that were near the location they were parked today. I will go back and next time will try the Rainer dog! read more

This is the best food truck in the entire city and probably the best pub food minus the pub. He is located outside brew lab and will have an inside location coming soon. The hot links burger was to die for and the sausage and gravy was thicker than my girlfriends thighs. Honestly we loved this place and the owner/chef was great. I really didn't feel like cooking so we went to Ex Novo brewery in Corrales. Fortunately Big Boss was there. With their Seattle based menu. My husband loved the hot link chopped dish - I snuck a bite and it was wonderful. My cheesesteak was phenomenal. Perfectly chopped and mixed with the right amount of salt and pepper. Perfect amount of Chile's, too. Hadn't had one this good since leaving the east coast! Drea was a blast! Her positive energy, breezy manner and all around fun contributed to our happiness She talked us into the crinkle fried and they were among the best I have had in decades. I met this brother a few weeks ago when posted up at the spot on Paseo & Unser usually on Saturdays on the southwest corner where some of us vendors try to make an honest dollar. I tried the bowl and then we tried the Seattle Seasteak which was one of the best steak sandwiches I've ever had compared to other philly cheesesteaks I've had.
